Elephant in the room..splatoon players of all ethnicities /regions are gettin' HOTTER!..
meaning better on every level of this game!.we are superb as well.5 or so months ago it did not matter how good or bad your teamates were.if I was not able to dominate or rally with other superb players it was still somewhat even. Win or lose U had a sense that everyone gave thier ALL. Now?..more & more..
we'er seeing the balance shift towards a new normal for this title.seems to be a concerted effort to ruin the fun this game had by a myriad of players screwin' with multiplayer honor system.. do your best no matter WHO IS ON YOUR TEAM.those whom play for fun.. or competitiveness, see that the game has changed radically! One noob..one slummer..one squid not pulling his/her weight results in many a lost match.
Not a big deal when u see everyone iz' trying. When it's intentional?..tough to explain to an 11 yr. Old..

Oh wow, the improvements to the special abilities make them REALLY good.
Also, teams win fewer points when disconnects happen to opponents...but there is no mention about the losing team. If the losing team doesn't lose fewer points, then what the hell is the point of winning fewer points?

@shani: hey shani..we have time Warner cables premium plan.. ethernet adapter for both wii us and the geek squad log in support blessed us with the high techy adding of both systems to our routers sub root mask etc.forgive me I don't know all of the jargon. not experiencin' somethin' doesn't mean it doesn't HAPPEN.we thought it was coincidence & happenstance as well until we looked it up on reddit youtube etc.--and saw many others having similar experiences. Lately squids in our plaza have been commenting on these issues via miiverse in game posts as well. We are in upstate NY. .bless you for being in a joint that's obviously closer to the splatoon server..& open you eyes sis..think bout' it..if u played that looooonng? Uve seeeen somethin'! @hinkuleez: No I know, I've seen those posts too! I'm just saying, from what I've experienced and generally know (I was the go-to tech guy for a lot of people in our dorm and still am for friends&family), they most likely (not 100%) stem from bad internet. But not everyone who's complaining knows that, because in fact, a lot people don't know anything about tech but like to complain (like damaging their phone and then blaming the phone company for that).
You on the other side seem to know your stuff, even have the ethernet adapter already (I was hoping that could help) and the router set up. I don't know how fast time Warner cable premium is but I'm assuming it's fast enough and from my experience cable provides a good ping and fast connections.
So now that these two things are ruled out, I'm running out of suggestions.
You might already have tried this, but maybe put every single device in the house offline (who knows, there could be a botnet running without you knowing) for a short period and have only the Wii U go online to see whether the issue still occurs. Unless you already have tried that.
Otherwise, one could try playing Splatoon somewhere else, maybe at a friend's home, to see if the issue occurs there too. If you haven't already tried that, I mean...
The thing is, I'm not trying to blame this on you nor ruling out that the issue is on Nintendo's side. There are a lot of factors that can have an impact. But even if your internet connection is fine, it's still likely that the lag shouldn't occur so often when the Wii U goes online at a different place. Of course this is no solution, only narrowing down the probably cause.
It just makes me sad to read that the five of you enjoy this game so much and then get hindered from playing it because of these issues. So I hope there will be a solution one day.
@shani: also other online games feature regional matches as well as sporadic..never had a problem w/ finding matches quickly in destiny, battlefront or other titles that feature either option.Another kid centric game..plants vs. zombies 2- have regional match options..NOOOOO probably gettin in matches in 30 secs-1 min. or quicker.no matter the time my kids play.if this title was'nt hot I wouldn't expend the energy trying to advocate for a hot experience by all involved.. not just u and others whom responded. I've posted on 3 forums so far w/ similar results.(except reddit)
People whom are'nt experiencING this tend to put the onus on tech, isolated case or some type of subtle hints at "poor man..sooooo ignorant".go to youtube and type splatoon lagg and u'll find several(probably more now) vids detailing what SOME of us are experiencing! ALL we are asking is that nintendo get serious about supporting this title for ALLLLL purchasers..not just the lucky cats closer to the server(s)

@hinkuleez: No, I know what you are experiencing, as I mentioned I also experienced it when I played at a friends house (who's known for having terrible internet/router) and during my stay in Berlin. The lag was insufferable and took the fun out of the game.
But I'm not saying bad internet is what's causing your lag. Actually, as I mentioned in the edit to my last post, there are a lot of factors that could be causing this. Even if your internet is fine, playing at a different location should still have an impact regarding the occurence of the lag you experienced.
One other possibility:
I don't know Time Warner but at least here in Germany it's not unusual for internet providers to provide you with a bad router. There were several reports on this from all the IT sites, a lot of fritz boxes that the providers give you are actually very insecure and have a lot of outdated security vulnerabilities (like having the standard pw saved in clear text somewhere in the router) that can be easily exploited by hackers.
And I've seen it a few times that friends of mine just had a crappy standard router and their connection problems practically went away when they bought a different, better router.
I just hope you guys can enjoy the game again some day, whether through a fix from Nintendo or a solution that you will find. I believe in you.
I had that after the 2.0.0 because I set up a manual DNS on my Wii U. Changing it to auto fixed this for me.
Oh and regarding the other games: Every game has a different netcode. Splatoon is mostly based on P2P, while most online games that I know use dedicated servers. The way the connection works is very different, so while other online games run fine, it has no relevance for another game whatsoever.
Some people come to these forums seeking more than quick fixes & tips.need actual help getting the message out that there are SOME PEOPLE that this product has left behind!
Don't judge.. help us get word to nintendo to support the unsupported in regards to this title.glad u're not experiencin' what we r. Great for U. Sad for us..whomever reads this. Please post support..not platitudes & "NOT HAPPENING TO ME ism".. maybe even call nintendo support 1-877-803-3676 on our behalf .suggest server support for the east coast ..again.. not a tech wiz..but savvy enough to know when somethin' needs improvement. HELP US OUTski..PlEasE...

Tried various routers --and even major electronic competitors/chains-- admitted that time Warners' latest router iteration is,bar none, amongst the BEst (if ya' can believe that)..I've had certified tech wizards deal w/ all schematics & minutiae of my router/wii u from hooter to tooter for weeks with the same results.in fact our other consoles & games have rendered marked improvements (metal gear online suffers a lot as well-- to be fair) our cable provider scoured and retrofitted our home to assure optimum connection variances for pc, cable & gaming formats.
Minamized electrical interference & the whole nine..we didn't even tell em' that the impetus for ALLLL of this work & expense was mainly to help splatoon work better.. because our fam & neighborhood youth LOVE THIS DAMNED GAME! Hands down game of the year in our truth..not opinion..when it works..
we've been able to use splatoon as a "keep good grades & do your chores" incentive..not only for our household but neighbors youth as well! Somethin' about this game resonates w/ folks of various age groups.even elders turned off the Republican debates & watched in glee @ the machinations of this GAME.
So give me a break!. we're losing another tool to help keep youth on the straight narrow & studious path-here! HELP US OUTSKI. PeAcE. Hinkuleez
