In Regular Battle and Splatfest, players of similar skill will be matched more often.
Rainmaker Adjustments:
Added prohibited areas in Walleye Warehouse, Saltspray Rig, Arowana Mall, and Flounder Heights in Rainmaker mode.
When players enter the prohibited area while carrying the Rainmaker, the amount of time they are allowed to hold the Rainmaker will decrease faster as a penalty.
Stage Adjustments:
Arowana Mall: Adjustments will be made to prevent users from taking certain shortcuts in all modes.
Port Mackerel: Adjustments will be made to prevent users from taking certain shortcuts in all modes.
Flounder Heights: Adjustments will be made to prevent users from taking certain shortcuts in all modes.
Museum D’Alfonsino: Adjustments will be made to prevent users from taking certain shortcuts in Rainmaker mode.
Battle Fixes:
Fix the issue in Rainmaker mode in which the countdown moves more than usual when a player gets the Rainmaker in the air.
Fix the issue in Rainmaker mode in which the bombs’ blast waves inflict damage on the Rainmaker shield even when there are obstacles between the bomb and the shield.
Fix the issue in Rainmaker mode in which Splash Walls placed near each other by the same team take damage when one of them blocks an ink splat.
Fix the issue in which bombs that are thrown near a wall do not fly straight and makes contact with the wall.
Other:
Adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.
@jariw: That's a big update to just come out of nowhere.Surely we're not getting 2 new maps tomorrow?
Correct, the maps will be released to the players gradually as usual, but the maps are within the content of this new update (as shown in the video presentation of the new maps).
The last couple of updates, Nintendo has changed their strategy regarding the new maps: instead of data miners leaking the content, Nintendo presents the new maps in advance that are available in a download patch, before the new update goes live.
I don't think there has been any announcement yet on when the next map will unlock.
@jariw: And I was just thinking "If they added just two more maps, then I couldn't possibly ask of more from them." This makes me happy, and bounces me back from the depression I was feeling when I thought that we had gotten all the stages already. They look like cool new maps! That Indoor Skatepark looks like a bad place to use a charger!
Just watched the new video and noticed on the Ancho-V Games map you can raise a platform by spraying the propeller thing like in single player mode. This should add an interesting twist to things.
@jariw: I'd like to see the sponge blocks, but it would be hard to imagine the rails in a map. Those were designed to help section-off the parts of the single-player mode Super Mario Galaxy style, but they might be hard to incorporate within the context of an online battle.
@Nicolai: Yeah I agree, the ink-rails wouldn't be very useful or practical. But the sponge blocks could be implemented for another level that requires advanced skill, similar to Museum d'Alfonsino (moving platforms) and Mahi Mahi Resort (a lot of water, timing the jumps to avoid drowning).
I'm surprised that we already get another set of new levels, but that makes it even more awesome! Can't wait to play on Piranha Pit and Ancho-V Games.
I thought Ancho-V Games was an indoor skatepark (with the name being a vague reference to X Games), but now that I've seen the video, I don't think it is anymore. There are Jellyfish at computers. Is it a video game studio? In a warehouse?
@Nicolai: I kind of thought it was offices inside a warehouse or factory. But the name doesn't suggest it is.You could be right about it being a game studio.
