@Eel The Shantae game for Game Boy Color? I mean the original Shantae Game Boy Color game.

Okay, so i managed to add funds to my 3DS but i had to make another Nintendo account and then link it to my 3DS Nintendo Network ID account. So now i have two accounts with different sums of money on each account. And i also bought the Game Freak horse /solitaire game many people seem to recommend to get as a last minute purchase for 3DS. Pockey Jockey Club. no, actually Pocket Card Jockey. Oh well.

Another question: There are no regular Nintendo DS games at the 3DS eshop right?
I have not found any yet anyway.

And another question:

Is mighty switch force available on other consoles than Wii U? It is available on Wii U for 50 swedish krona or about 5 dollars and it seems kind of cool, kind of like a hand drawn high res mega man style game. But i keep thinking, maybe it is available elsewhere?

Also, i got Chasing Aurora for 65 swedish krona and Toku Toru for just 20 swedish krona (cute puzzle game) as two of my last minute purchases for Wii U. I think Chasing Aurora was mentioned as a cool Wii U exclusive in one of the Nintendo Life articles.

Other last minute purchases i made during the recent present (or recent past actually) was a few NES Games.

Bayou Billy
Might Final Fight
Street Fighter 2010

Another Konami game and two from Capcom.

I am not getting a lot of Street Fighter games since they are available elsewhere but i think the SF 2010 game might be only for Virtual Console, but maybe i am wrong. Also, i do not think the Mighty Final Fight game is easy to find either on Steam for example. But a lot of other games from Capcom and Konami are quite easy to find like the Castlevania collections..

As for 3DS, i am kind of lost. I used to play 3DS quite a lot around 2014 or 2015 and my 3DS gaming peaked in 2016 i think but after 2016 when i sold my other console, i have not even unpacked the 3DS i bought at a later date. I sort of forgot about it so i unpacked it just tonigth. Really last minute for the 3DS eshop right, but at least i am now a proud owner of the famous Game Freak horse racing/solitaire game.

I might need to get some more Nintendo DS games now for Wii U. I might not be able to purchase all the ones i want. I am also considering Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii U (Wii download software) but it is kind of pricey at 200 swedish kronor and my funds are sort of running out now..panic buying stuff is kind of fun (in a way, but also kind of stressful). I must decide if it is worth 200 for the game because it means i would not buy two DS games or three Turbo Grapx games.

If only they could give the Metroid Prime 2 echoes and Metroid Prime 3 Corruption games the same remasters as Metroid Prime. I actually own MP1 and MP2 for gamecube but i missed out on the third game. I could always get a pre owned copy, but..i prefer new games. Most people prefer new, right?

Definitely going to try to get Adventure Island 2 on 3DS VC too. Why is it only on 3DS and not Wii U? I would actually prefer Wii U because it has a bigger screen and bigger D-pad.

A long post guys, but it is sort of nice to document my panic buying shopping spree in a way.

Another game i might consider is Harvest Moon for GBC.... but i also noticed a newer Harvest moon game is on sale for only 40 swedish krona (4 dollars).

It is nice how a lot of the game boy and game gear games are available for only 30 krona (3 bucks). But they charge 100 krona for a lot of the pokemon games.. greedy. But it is, as i mentioned earlier, kind of tough with GB and GBA because we know a lot of games are going to get Switch versions soon. We just do not know which ones might get added to Switch in the next couple of months or the next year. But i guess the best tactic is to try to get the more uncommon ones.

Speaking of tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics for GBA is another game i am thinking about getting. I could buy it for 70 bucks and sell my pre owned copy of the cartridge for a lot more, i do not like pre owned games anyway (but having a printed box and manual is always nice of c).. and then i could "make up" for some of the very costly last minute panic buying shopping spree i am on now.

@Eel Cool! Thanks, then i skip Shantae for 3DS now. And get it for Switch tomorrow perhaps.

(If i have any money left after tonight )

Trust me.
Older Harvest Moon games from SNES, N64, PS1, PS2 era are already outdated and very tedious. Also, you just only play as a boy farmer to get married from several girls.
On modern Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons, you can play as boy or girl , you can wear different outfits and have different looks, you can marry with opposite / same gender.
Modern Harvest Moon games have more efficient way of farming so once you can harvest your crops very quickly from Pioneer of Olive Town, you will not thinking to revisit older Harvest Moon games with tedious way to harvest the crops.

Yeah i trust you but i kind of want to explore the beginnings of Harvest Moon and sometimes the simple gameplay in retro games is kind of nice (like blades of steel or ice hockey) as a change from more advanced gameplay in more recent games. I actually own a Harvest moon game for gamecube and i also have access to stardew valley on the X game console (game pass). I have too many games and the harvest simulator sub genre is a genre i have not played very much of, partly because the games seem a bit "much" and hard to get into. With "much", i mean complex and deep. Which is kind of nice but it could also mean a steep learning curve.

Plus, Harvest Moon for SNES was one of the games i missed out on when i was way younger so buying it now seems kind of nice. Nice to finally get some games from the past before the eShop closes.

A Harvest moon collection with a lot of older titles would also be kind of sweet.

@Simon97 the closest thing to DS games on the 3DS eshop would be certain DSiWare titles, like Brain Age Express, Plants vs Zombies, Puzzler World XL, and Electroplankton.

There’s many DSiWare titles that were parts of full retail DS games being sold as individual pieces. In some cases the entire game.

My Nintendo at some point had a digital version Wario Ware Touched available, and that also ended up being DSiWare once downloaded.

(Full discloser: I'm an American and unsure if this applies outside NA) I came across a $1 game today called Otosan that shows potential. It's an Earthbound-esque game for the 3DS and Switch that hasn't been created yet. However, to work around the eShop closure, the developer released just a small dot of the game now for $1. When the game's finished sometime in the future, he will give the game an update so that those who pay a dollar now can play the full game in the future. If you want the last "future" 3DS game, it may be worth it, assuming it's in your region. In case you're interested, here's some info on the game: https://www.gonintendo.com/contents/17440-otosan-dev-releases... 😀

Presumably the 3DS Theme Shop is affected by this too. Went on there just now to look at some themes, but the browsing system is so slow, so instead I'm pulling the whole of the European themes from Google drive - 1.54gb - who knew it would be that big? Don't think I'll install all of those on my 3DS at the same time.
Edit: Oh boy. No joke; about 50% of the 1.54gb total are Hello Kitty themes.

I am not too familiar with the theme shop actually. Is it available on 3DS eshop or is it some webb/internet-based shop on the regular internet?

Simon97

@Eel Ah i see. Then i definitely need to go for Wii U eshop to get the Zelda games, Yoshi´s Island DS and a few others.

Unless they eventually appear on Switch Online, but it seems like a longshot.

I should check out the DSiWare stuff too of course. Right now, i am looking at the utility softwares on 3DS. I got pokemon bank and the badge arcade thingy.

Well it would be kind of cool in a way to get the last of all the games released on 3DS and a dollar is cheap. If money is still available i might get it but there are some 3DS pruchases for about 1,5 or 2 bucks i also think look cool. Some japanese train games and other stuff.

@Nickinator Thank you for posting about this game. I had never heard about it until now and ended up buying it after checking out the Otosan website. A $1 turn based RPG sounds like a great deal, especially when one only has $1.44 left and doesn't know what to use it on.

Hm there is at least one Wii U game demo i could not get even if i wanted it. Maiden of the black water trial version.

I think my white Wii U has around 8 GB memory, the system takes up a few GB. The demo is about 9,9 GB. One freebie i might not get. I could with a hard drive though. I guess technically i could reformat the 2TB Xbox One drive to Wii U in the middle of the night but who knows what is on the hard drive besides just games? (At one point i uploaded pictures to my Xbox One)

I can not check now either because my Xbox One is currently not working.

But getting the free stuff before it is unavailable is kind of nice too, as well, i guess. Why not? As long as it does not take too much time to download. Downloading stuff on 3DS takes some time. I have not used 3Ds for a few years but i remember waiting a long time to download some game, i think it was a Monster Hunter game, once. It took maybe like an hour. (Granted, it takes time to download games to Xbox or Playstation as well, especially if they are 50 GB - 100 GB game files. Wii U and Switch is actually a lot better at such a perticular thing, even though hardware is not quite as strong.. and on Wii U you do not even need to install if it is a disc)

I am actually kind of enjoying it, going through the eshops and looking at what to get in the final hours before eshop closes, it sort of feels like a quest to get the last games. But not cheap, but it is a one time thing. (Unless the Playstation 3 or 4 store closes next month. Maybe the PS3 store is infact closed even.)

I mean, I am personally done with my Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U. I think that even if I did buy any games on either systems, I would never end up playing them. And buying games just so I have them just in case is a no-go for me.

I'll confess to having spent some hours yesterday and today grabbing a lot of games, and I'm not even the type to go on shopping sprees! Like your situation, my Wii U couldn't carry everything I wanted to download. What you can do is temporarily delete games. Deleting games off your 3DS or Wii U will not prevent you from redownloading them after March. Nintendo made it clear that the closure only affects purchases, not redownloads. As a result, I deleted some of my games and was able to purchase more than my Wii U can carry. Now I can just delete and redownload as needed. 😀

You access it via the Settings button in the top-left corner of the 3DS Home screen.

I still haven't decided whether to buy the Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii U. At £17.99 for the three games, that's a bargain. But it's still £17.99 I might not get use from, and I'll need a USB drive expansion (I think I have one spare).

I was keeping an eye out for a used Wii physical version, but that's probably going to shoot up in price now. And we might get remasters of the second and third on Switch.

I managed to buy ALMOST everything i wanted for the Wii U eshop last night, except for a few DS games and Turbo Grapx games. What happened is i started looking at which DS games i owned and tried to find (!) them, to not buy things i own as a cartridge and it took some time and when i went back to buying, it seems like they stopped accepting my credit card at the internet site where you either redeem codes or buy "eshop money" with real money.

Now when i try to buy more eshop money, It says when i try to buy:

"Error Code: 9001-2470
This credit card cannot be used.

For more information, please contact the issuer of your credit card."

And later on in the night last night it just was not possible to even get on the eshop because of "maintenance" so ifigured they had closed the eshop and went to bed.

And now (early evening on 27/3) i am to my surprise at least able to access the 3DS eshop again, but the credit card problem remains.

I also tried buying some eshop codes to redeem at the nintendo life site but it did not work either.

As for 3DS eshop, a lot of stuff i did not get to buy unfortunately, but i should have started trying to get stuff a bit earlier and not thursday night for Wii U eshop and last night for 3DS eshop.

But if you still want to buy something, at least the 3DS eshop seems to be open still,w hich is surprising.

If only they could wait another month and let us buy all the stuff we did not have time or money to buy?

I might have spent a bit too much money but it was the whole "last chance" thing i guess. Oh well, it was only a few hundred euro. Not too much money in the grand scheme of things really. But a lot of money on games in a very short time period! I got a little carried away, but i am quite satisfied about how much i was actually able to get at the last minute for Wii U. I even got a few things for 3DS.

After the money issue last night, i even downloaded a bunch of demo games for Wii U and 3DS, at least being able to play the first level of a game is kind of nice.

Now, time to sell some physical games to make up for the cost of buying digital games.

If you still have money and access, i would go for it. Especially if you do not have any of the prime games. For me, it is a harder choice, slightly harder anyway, since i own MP1 and MP2 echoes on gamecube.

Yeah i actually used the tactic to delete games to gain more space for buying other games on Wii U last night. The Virtual Console games do not take up too much space, except for the Turbo Graph games which took up about 300-700 megabytes. In comparison, some of the NES and SNES VC games ranged from 15 MB to maybe 70 MB. I guess maybe Turbo Graph games were a lot bigger than NES-SNES cartridges back in the days if they were on floppy disks or cd roms.

But as for the Project Zero game, the file was bigger than my entire available space on the Wii U console because the file was like 9,9 GB and Wii U (white console) only has like 8 GB of storage (and almost half of the 8 GB is used by the system for system updates and such things i think).
