Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman, is getting ready to leave Ubisoft. The man recently protested Ubisoft’s decision to delay his latest project, Rayman Legends. According to sources in the french media, many developers from the Ubi Montpellier studio could follow his move after Legends gets released. Gamekult reports that this imminent departure is not the result of Rayman’s delay, but more of a cause. Differences in philosophy between Ubisoft and Nintendo in regards to the promotion and distribution of Rayman Legends are also cited as a probable cause of the game’s move from Wii U exclusive to multiplatform status. This could potentially be bad news for projects such as Beyond Good And Evil 2, if the rumor does turn out to be true.
Oh no, and I thought this whole ordeal was ending :0

I read that he will be tied to Rayman or something like that
Actually, I saw that too somewhere. No idea if that's true but even this is just a rumor so far. Honestly his talents would be better elsewhere from Ubisoft, so long as he can take Rayman with him... Otherwise I have mixed feelings.
Also, I honestly don't blame him.
Feel free to add me on the Nintendo Network: ShadJV

Nintendo had something to do with the Rayman delay it says. I don't think he'd be joining Nintendo if this is true. Which I hope it's not. Not only does that mean Nintendo is significantly stupider than I already thought, but hey, this guy's gonna have to find another job. And who knows what could happen to Rayman.

I thought it was some stupid policy of Sony's? Where a Multiplatform game had to be released at the same time or something. (or maybe it was Microsoft, can't remember, lol)

Keep it PG-13-ish.
People have been assuming the fault lies with a Microsoft policy, but there's no real evidence this is the case.
I think someone of Ancel's stature is better off on his own where he can exercise more control over his projects. We'll see what happens, but I wish him all the best regardless.
If he IS going to jump ship, now would be a great time. Last rayman game reached the hit phase of sleeper hit, next rayman game was moved to be buried by several super games... He's very employable for the next few months, but could become a marketing victim if he sticks around too long.

Well Ubisoft says that the base of units of WiiU consoles was to low, and that makes that a mayor game didn't get enouch sales. Could be ACIII, could be ZU, and because of that they make it multiplaform. The delay, that's a different matter and the MS policy of multiplatform date releases has to be the obvious reason.

I'd like to know these "differences in opinion". Didn't Nintendo plug Rayman as one of the must have games on the console? Demo units? Prominent E3 space? Was this not enough for Ubisoft or were they actually looking for less exposure?
