How to clear Expert 100 Mario Challenge:
(This list will also help you make better designs for 100 Mario Challenge)
1. Always hold down the - button as the course loads before it even starts. This will let you view the course before anything can hurt you. Skip it if there are any immediate dangers that you would have to instantly dodge or any hint of unfairness like that.
2. Skip any course that punishes most mistakes with instant death. Look for ones that actually provide power ups for you to fight enemies and ways to go back if you miss a jump or something. If it smells at all like troll, skip it immediately. Hit an invisible block when attempting a jump or have to find a well hidden invisible block to proceed? Bad design! Skip! Good designers don't abuse invisible blocks.
3. Skip any course with a title that suggests that it's unfair or really hard. This is actually super useful... many people name their courses things like, "try and beat it," or, "tricks and traps." Skip anything with a title like that. You probably will not miss out on anything good anyway. Also look for clues in the titles, sometimes the title tells you how to do the part that you're stuck on.
4. Abuse clouds, clown cars, propeller hats, and spin jumps as much as possible. Apparently a lot of people don't realize how easy it is to steal a cloud and cruise through the rest of the course so I've gotten through a lot of expert courses that way. They also don't realize that some parts are actually really easy if you just spin jump. I have also many times gotten a propeller hat, went to the highest point possible, jumped, spun, and then kept spinning to stay in the air as long as possible while heading to the right. It's a risky strategy but it's worked more than not and I have skipped a ton of awfulness that way. Always remember that clouds and clown cars can fly above the screen if there's nothing blocking them. Many trolly clown car set ups can be very easily bypassed this way. You can fly under the screen as well but it's easy to accidentally die that way so get used to it before doing it in 100 Mario challenge.
5. Avoid doors and tunnels as much as possible. It's really sad but true... more people abuse them than not in expert courses. Do not use them unless you absolutely have to and if there's any hint that the designer is unfair still don't use them, just skip!
6. Never get stuck trying to clear a course because you like it! 6 lives is probably the most I would spend on a course and only if I really like it a lot. Star it, skip it, and go back to it later with infinite lives.
7. Look for hidden stars and power ups. If that's how the designer got through the course to upload it then it's a terrible course but if you can find it for yourself you can exploit it like they did. I wouldn't try too hard to find them but sometimes you notice a shooting start bouncing in a pit with a ton of enemies or something. That star is how the creator got through the 10 Bowsers they stacked at the end.
8. Make sure you know all of the game mechanics! Some courses are rated expert because they use Yoshi's floaty jump or require a spin jump or a spiky helmet or you have to throw an item upwards in SMW, for some examples, and lots of players just don't know the basics of playing so they die.
9. Collect those coins and green mushrooms! I barely need them in a normal Mario game but they are very important in Expert 100 Mario Challenge.
10. Skip cheetah speed auto scrolls. I'd say 90% or more of them are intentionally cruel if not trolling.
11. View the comments that people leave! Sometimes they are by unskilled players and aren't very accurate but if someone posted, "troll level" at the beginning or, "warning: unfair," before a certain section or anything like that, chances are it's correct. Many people are willing to give a bad course a star just to warn others but you have to view the comments to receive the warnings. Sometimes the creator leaves comments telling you what to do and it's rated expert because most people play with the comments off.
12. Look for courses that only 3 people have played. That means that the system decided that the course is Expert far too soon and chances are you're a better player than those three people. Many of these courses really don't belong in expert and won't stay there after more people play them.
@AdamLikesNintend: Regarding number 4 (abuse clouds, clown cars, etc) I totally breezed through a level with a clown car avoiding everything the creator had put up for an obstacle. They made a winding passage out of spiked balls you were supposed to steer through but didn't realize you could fly up out of the visible screen area at the top and avoid the entire thing. I still hold the record time because I bet most people don't realize you can do this either.
@Ding-Dong: Hahaha yeah, I've done that many times now. It's amazing how many people apparently don't know you can do that. The thing that gets me the most is the propeller hat. Did they really not know I could use it that way? Because there's often NO obstacles up there to stop you and all this horrible crap down below.
You might be the greatest Mario player in the world, but you will need more than that to clear this challenge. You're gonna need LUCK (a lot of it). The title says it all. Put you skill and luck to the test and try not to RAGE! Good luck! https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/08AC-000...
Well, for some reason none of the levels I bookmarked in the hospital are showing on the wii. I will go back through and find them. I did beat the new panga level today though.
I think he's really underrated, and his level design is fantastic. Not as eccentric as Val's, not as... Pangaey as Panga's, but really tight, fair, and often quite imaginative. His more recent stuff has strayed into what I regard as super hard territory, but some of his older stuff is more palatable for those not wishing to sink hours on end into a single levels. He's got a small following composed of some of the Japanese Kaizo Gods, but fewer people in the English speaking world.
To celebrate Daisy coming into SMM, here's my Sarasaland Palace level I made a while back, inspired by the SM64 Peach's Castle I saw once on GameXplain.
Feedback's appreciated — I want to do something different with the music block room but will need to think a bit about what I can do. I guess now that Daisy's actually coming into the game I'll have to get rid of the little bit at the end of the stage as well.

Yes it was the ADGQ level, it's actually a fairly easy level, it took me under an hour to beat it. It was a very fun level though. I bookmarked a couple of the others and will probably follow the creator after opening one of them, thanks for the heads up. I'm always looking for good kaizo style levels as well as people to share my own with. I'm working on my third "dangers of shell jumping" level now. I think they have gotten easier as I went along.

A played a level called alteration cavern or something like that, I don't remember who posted it but I bookmarked it here, it was a fun level.
I also played the battleship level someone shared and it was a very well made level with a clever idea to it, I got bored of looking for the exit but I saved it for when in in the mood to try again.

I was apart of another 12 item FB challenge. This time we could only use cannons, clown car, pipes, spineys/helmet, fire flower, stone bricks, mushrooms, doors, hammer bros, saw/bumper, thwomps and arrows/checkpoints
Here's another 1 screen puzzle I came up with. It's not as hard as my other levels but might take you a few tries. Enjoy!
Finally finished and uploaded my third and probably final level in the "dangers of shell jumping" series. I worked really hard on this one and it's the longest level in the series.

I have been playing a couple of his levels and they are great, I was just going through my own bookmarks and looking at who has beat and starred them and noticed he beat one of my shell jumping courses. Is he on this forum? It can't be a coincidence. I just finished my newest course that I posted and now I'm going to go back and try to clear them. I got right to the end on the one I was playing and then died.
