I'd like to see Star Coins (or some sort of proper secret area reward) too, but I'm not sure how they should be implemented. One option would be to to include a permanent 'Star Coin Medallion' next to the basic 'Clear Flag', but I feel that would somewhat take away from the simplicity of the game and leave normal players who simply want to get to the end feeling like they were insufficient. Another option would be something like the ability to use a special stamp/gold trimmed message box after finishing the level, so you could show off to the creator/other players that you'd got all the star coins on a particular run. Alternatively, getting all the Star Coins could increase your maximum 1-Up supply in 100-Man Mario to 4 or 5, instead of the usual 3.

Does anyone have any thoughts?
Considering the fact that it's now very difficult to get stars anymore, it could be partially rectified by allowing players to 'earn' stars by collecting all 3 coins in a level. But you can only do this once per level, so there wouldn't be any "farming" levels. Obviously, there'll still be levels that make this easy, but the fact is, people can give (or not give) you a star for any reason, so I don't think this would break the system. Also, this would reward players who take the time (or have the skill) to do so.
Of course, levels that had the coins would be identified as so, and you wouldn't be able to upload it without having to clear the level, and get all 3 coins at the same time.
Amiibo have to have some purpose... unfortunately.
@FattyWhale_42: The idea behind the stars is that better creators will be able to add more levels than people who don't make very enjoyable levels thus improving the whole experience. Of course it's already a very broken system and I have near zero respect for it but still, letting people earn them by playing would actually be a very radical change and would completely alter the purpose of the stars in the first place.
For reasons I'll divulge later, I've finished a hard level I'd been tinkering with before my Mario Maker hiatus. Because of said reasons I shall divulge later, I had decided to finish it and upload it for all of you to try your hand at. And thus I present to you the first hard level I've ever made.
Just played through it. I reckon that qualifies as 'Insane' on the Nintendo Life Mario Maker scale. Okay, so not Kaizo-level Instanity, but I reckon it's a damn sight harder than most of the levels marked as 'Hard'.
I generally liked the design and the route it took you on, but I had a lot of trouble with the first set of single block jumps. It seems that to have enough height to get from the final block to the wall jumps, you need to do a triple-jump off it, but there are four jumps in total, so the triple-jump naturally falls on the penultimate block. I spent a while dying before I realised I could cancel the sequence by twirling during the first jump, which then reset it, meaning I could get the triple-jump on the final block. Maybe I was doing something silly, but I had a lot of trouble with that.
Anyway, I was having fun enough to stick through it!

True, but I don't think there's a large gap between the people who are good at creating, and those good at playing. Which, that's the thing, creating and playing are two sides of the same 'coin' (see what I did there?), so it would make (at least a little) sense to be able to earn them both ways — especially since the system is already so broken.
Also, I saw you played/starred/commented on "Enemy Training Rooms" but I was just about to (and now have) upload a new (and better... I think) version of it! So thanks for the star, and sorry you no longer have the best time.
Finally finished and uploaded the next in my shell jumping serious. If you enjoyed the first one, or like the kaizo/panga style levels but want to try something a bit easier check this one out! This series is hard and requires some perfect kick/jump skills but is way more forgiving than a panga level, this one is even more so because I added 2 checkpoints and most of the jumps let you keep trying if you miss rather than start completly over. I would love some feedback since I put a lot of time into it. It also has 3 one ups in it to try to find and get.
Hey guys, I'm new here. Just joined up recently. I've been discouraged at how few people have played my courses. Any of you willing to take a look at them? There's two that I'm particularly fond of. Both are made in a traditional Mario style.
I named one "Boo Village". The ID for that one is C741-0000-015F-742D
The other I named "Journey to the Great Tree". ID 2419-0000-0160-CE2C
If any of you play them, I'll return the favour and play some of your levels. I might even give some of them stars
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I played your spike trap levels when you first posted them and didn't really care for them, just not my style is all. even though I love doing speed runs, i don't like levels that force you to get through mazes really quick like this before your star runs out. They just aren't fun to me, and the difference between them and speed runs is that in speed runs I like figuring out the best course to the finish and when to jump (what enemy's to jump on or over etc...) stuff like that to get the fastest route to the finish. I just checked out the 8 doors level and quit after my first death, running all the way to the right and then all the way back to the left of the course with no obstacles was boring and I don't care to do it again. Sorry I had nothing positive to say about your courses, just not my style I guess.
There's a maker called Layne that I came across a couple of days ago at the bookmark site.check him out everyone.I really can't recommend him enough, his levels are fantastic. He has over 30 uploaded and I've played them all except 3 or 4 'version 1' levels he has since remastered. So much creativity going on in every one of them.
He's been putting out 1 or 2 a day the last few days. This is his latest one ,not his best but still really good.
@99mushrooms Thanks for playing! I'll check out your levels right now. By any chance, did any of you find out what old man Hammer Bro was hiding in his house as he urged you off his front lawn
@FattyWhale_42 I'll check out your courses. I like challenging courses and personally plan on building a trick jump course in addition to my usual traditional styled levels.
@dizzy_boy You've got some great courses man. I must've checked out 5 or so. I'll play the rest today.

Thank you for going to all that trouble of making, filming, and uploading it. I actually have an almost identical contraption at the very end of the level, just before the goal. It uses blocks instead of cannons, but I think in every other respect it's the same.
