Hello everyone, I'm Justin.

I just got this game less than a week ago and I am IN LOVE! So much fun! I've made 8 levels so far and most of them resemble your standard Mario platforming with a couple different levels thrown into the mix.

If anyone has time to play a few of my levels and give me some advice or criticism that would be extremely appreciated.

My Levels!

Here's my "Zelda: Ocarina of Time" series. I hope you guys like it. Give it a like/stars if you enjoy it. I'd love to know what you think. Enjoy!

@Littlebigblox: That was super super fun. A really nice platforming level with just the level of challenge I like. I spent like 10 lives making it (more than I would've liked but that's my fault). A bit of theming would have been nice, but it was still very fun. You should try my levels "Mechanical Fear" and "The Misery Machine". You may like those. I will be checking your levels from time to time. I also tried some others, that i liked.

@mrichston: Your level felt good. I can't make it but it wasn't frustrating, Everything's in plain sight so if you can't, you can't, but no pressure. I still had a really good time trying to figure it out. I may give it another try later, as I'm sure I'm missing something on trial two (don't give me any clue though, I want to figure it out)..

@Justicewarrior88: I just finished your 8 levels. It felt great. The pacing is spot on for levels meant to be played in a row. The difficulty goes up gradually without any part feeling unfair or misplaced. Maybe the fight with Bower Junior in the clown car might be a bit tough for beginners, but apart from that, no problem.

The platforming was also pretty good. It is very satisfying when you managed the jumps, even the easy ones. Everything is fluid and makes sense. Once again, the level has its natural flow that never breaks.

The only minor negative might be theming, which can ba a bit weak in some parts, especially in your overworld levels.

I had a blast. You level are very fun. That's the most important part. I want more, and I'm following you. I might not check your levels all the time, but I'll come back to them eventually.

Please take a look at my levels too. Don't hesitate to try a few, they can be pretty different in size, type and difficulty.
If you want an idea of what I do best, check "The Old World", a heavily themed level that I changed recently to add checkpoints.

Have fun, and welcome to this forum.

@Hanakane: I tried you part 2 of the water temple and it is just as fun as the first. I got trolled by the boss's appearance, but it's all fair since there is the checkpoint. Not much else to say, just a repeat of everything I liked in the first: beautiful theming, fun mechanics. Nice level. Must have needed a lot of time.

@DanoLefourbe Thanks man. It did indeed take a while - over two days of designing, playtesting, tweaking and re-tweaking in fact!

About the boss. Sorry about that. I normally don't have enemies falling from unseeable heights, but there's a couple of reasons why I did it in this level. First, it's supposed to be a remake of the battle against Dark Link in the original Water Temple from Ocarina of Time. In that battle, you walk into the room and it's empty. But the second time you return to the tree in the middle, Dark Link suddenly appears behind you and takes you by surprise.

Second, I tried to replicate that by using rails and having the boss spawn in that way, which would be more controlled, but there appears to be a glitch where enemies just fall off screen and die once they fall of the rails. Pretty weird. So the only way I could replicate that feeling of walking into the empty room and have the boss surprise you was in the way that I did it.

Like you said, I put a checkpoint and a mushroom there precisely for that reason, in case you got hit by the falling boss, to try to mitigate that. Nevertheless, it's not a perfect solution, but it's the closest I could get to producing what I want. Thanks for the feedback, and especially for the drawing on miiverse!

How are you guys taking those screenshots ?

@Chandlero: Putting wings on anything that's in a track will make it go faster. There's basically 2 speeds (normal and winged) but I saw a "glitch" that can make platforms go a little faster. Here's the video:

Anyway, I had to put wings on my platforms to make thw flow of the level a little nicer. I've played really long levels that use normal platforms and they feel waaay too slow.

Btw, I'm so glad you liked my new level!

Check out my super awesome Super Mario Maker levels.

A new Yoshi themed event course just got released with a wolf type character egg a a reward. It's a tough long course that could really do with a checkpoint, but a well designed satisfying one to complete.

@Freeon-Leon: I have noticed that of all the stars I've gotten, 95% have been from non-Japanese players. (This is an assumption based on Mii names using the English alphabet versus mii names using the Japanese alphabet.)

As for Kaizo Mario... I just watched a video of a level like that on Youtube, and no part of that looks enjoyable to me. If that's what they want, they can have it.

After many days of designing and playtesting, I am proud to present my latest level... "Intricate Adventure". It is composed of 2 full areas, with 2 checkpoints. Gameplay elements include precision platforming, challenging puzzles, high levels of exploration & discovery and of course, Yoshi! There are no cheap tricks. This level is 100% authentic, hard (not kaizo), and made with love.

If you decide to give it a go, please do let me know what you think. I spent so many nights and days designing this level. I playtested it for just as long, tweaking and making adjustments along the way. I am confident there is no cheese or soft locks. I am always interested in feedback. Thank you.

'Intricate Adventure'

Welcome to Intricate Adventure. Precision platforming & mind-boggling puzzles await you. Team up with Mario & Yoshi to take on a challenging adventure through dangerous lands and puzzling undergrounds in this expansive level. Discover helpful items & secrets along the way. Keep an eye open for a special reference. Good luck!
