I think Nintendo will appeal to everyone this gen. GCN was hardcore, Wii was casual, and now the Wii U has the right amount of hardcore and casual to cater to both.

To the OP. I agree to an extent about how people like to complain, just to complain. Some is deserved, some isn't.
Honestly, I don't see much point. i.e. If you don't like what a company is doing, but you like what another company is doing, just don't even bother with what you don't like.
Aside from that, the Wii U, has tons of 1st party games coming out. That by itself is a good thing, and will no doubt push sales.
I think Nintendo has the install base in the bag, but they're gonna have to do more than that once the XBox and PS show up.

I honestly think Wii U will be able to handle most of the multiplatform games. Sony has already required remote play for PS4 games, that already guarantees any multiplatform port for the GanePad to be used with, w/o Nintendo even lifting a finger to do anything.
We all know the other consoles will have the graphics, but they aren't that big to begin with, IMO.
Just compare X to FFXV. They look pretty close visual wise to me, then add that X has better gameplay. That's just me though.
Anyways, I think Wii U will be fine. The only reason why Nintendo is getting so much crap, is because they're the first ones out, and don't match the expectations people have from the other next consoles, YET.

This is true about so many things; not just games. Everybody, take note.

To be fair, the insecurity people like that have is to a large degree the fault of society and what is somehow deemed as "normal" by the public. The insecure people are just doing their best to fit the standard, lest they are ostracized.

@WaveBoy I like the way those parents escorted their child away around 00:19.

I know that many games I enjoy will never be embraced by the mainstream. So what? Play what you like and don't worry about others think.

The "kids these days" comment is nonsense, it has always been there and always will be. At some point or another smoking, drinking, leather jackets, long hair or loud music have all been part of the same thing. It's just that now gaming has become as socially accepted a media to "express" your tastes as music, fashion and movies that it's also a part of it. Someone who plays video games isn't automatically a "nerd".

Wow! I don't know exactly where to put this, so here's a good a place as any.

I've just saw the biggest anti-Nintendo troll ever (on YouTube, no surprise), called BLACKB0ND.

He has a 5 minute rant video talking about how the "Scam U" is a bigger rip off than the Xbox One, and the biggest scam in gaming since the Panasonic 3DO, lol.

Another 7 minute video trashing the Nintendo Direct.

Also, a 2 minute video scrutinizing X, and how it's going to be average at best (genuinely confused about what people see in it).

"Sony has already required remote play for PS4 games, that already guarantees any multiplatform port for the GanePad to be used with"

Please tell me how another system guarantee's any multiplatform port for the Gamepad? What your saying no makes sense, as remote play works totally different from how the Gamepad works with its console.

This should make it clear,

"The GamePad itself isn't anywhere near as complex as even the most basic Android tablet - essentially it's a standard game controller, with a touch-screen and a WiFi card, paired up with a decoder chip for the incoming video stream. Controller inputs themselves are beamed back to the Wii U via the same WiFi channel (180 times per second no less), in contrast to the Bluetooth employed by the Wiimote"

The problem with the Nintendo trash talk is that it isn't based on solid arguments. You can "legitimately" trash talk Xbone because it contradicts what most people want from a game console. The Wii U's alleged "lack of power" isn't as much an issue as the time and effort it would take to port games. If you question the Wii U's power, look at the trailer for Monolith Soft's upcoming X game, or Bayonetta 2. The companies who claim to not want to develop games for the Wii U because it isn't powerful enough are truthfully just lazy companies. Other companies don't want to because the Wii U install base is low. Ironically, the third party companies are partly at fault for this. Nintendo has admitted that their marketing efforts weren't good enough, but the lack of third party games cannot be blamed on Nintendo.

Another thing I hated was when people said "wii U's name is so confusing I don't get it wah wah wah" Microsoft calls 3rd Xbox Xbox one and no one thinks its weird, the reason why everyone is pressuring nintendo at the moment is because people want them to make the best console

So, the Wii U. I have it, and love it. It's tons of fun. the worst thing is that there's only a good few of games for it. (Which is to be expected, as it just launched.) Now, people blame Nintendo for this, but Nintendo is practically the only one who seems to be making games for the Wii U! People like Activision and EA almost refuse to develop/port games to the Wii U. Now, I couldn't care less about EA and Activision games, but, the fact that they're not making games means that the console is a "no-go" for fans of their series. Which means less sales, which means companies won't make games for it.

It's not EA or Activision's job to make the Wii U a success, it's Nintendo's. They aren't supposed to build up the Wii U, third parties come in when it's profitable for them, not Nintendo. If the Wii U fails, yes it is in part due to third parties, but is primarily Nintendo's.

Okay, lets go into something different. People were really upset about how the PS4 and Xbox One didn't have backwards compatibility. I wish there was a console that had full backwards compatibility plus a service where you could buy previous retro games.... Oh wait. The Wii U.

But it's only backwards compatible with a Wii. The game's most of these people are interested in playing are on the PS3/X360.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

You know that Sony has first-party to rival Nintendo's right? What is this business about Sony not making games for its systems?
You only need to pay a yearly fee to play online on PS4. All things like Netflix, and all of the social services don't require you to have PS Plus.

The Wii U GamePad's off tv play and remote play is exactly the same as using a PS Vita to do the same thing. That whole bit about not being as complex as a basic Android... It doesn't matter, because the Wii U does the processing. That explains nothing, because I already knew that, and it doesn't matter for what both devices are trying to do.
The Vita gets the video, controls, and audio streamed just as much as the GamePad when using remote play. This guarantees multiplatform ports for the GamePad, because any PS4 game in development requires remote play, which the GamePad does.

@Jaz007
I have no clue where you read that Sony has no first party games in this thread. That was a pretty delusional post... Also, remember that PS4 is supposed to be a gaming system. No free online after doing so for a long time now, is a shot in the foot for Sony, especially since that was part of alot of PS fans arguments for years. That argument is completely out the window now, since Sony is now charging for online gaming.
