You can't play original DS or Wii games online as their online services have been closed. However, you can still play online with the Nintendo Network (Wii U and 3DS).
I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]
I wouldn't make a blanket statement about that. Any games that used Nintendo's online service will no longer work online, however there are games which didn't use it that may still work. You can only try and see!
Yeah i was playing goldeneye last night. Servers still up
If I'm not mistaken, Goldeneye was published by Activision, and any Activision games on Wii can still be played online (including the Call of Duty games).
Porygon did nothing wrong.

You may also continue to purchase DLC for any games that have DLC available. There are some exceptions where the servers have been terminated though, such as the DJ Hero, Rock Band, Guitar Hero and U-Sing games.

Cool thanks but can i play animal crossing? online? ps. thx for activision hint
Animal Crossing is a Nintendo game, so I doubt it. I think the Just Dance 2 DLC can still be downloaded - I think I redownloaded my content after I re-purchased it post-WiFi Connection termination.

No. Nintendo has terminated the "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection" service, which means that any Nintendo published/developed games for Wii or DS will no longer have online features. At present, the only way to enjoy Animal Crossing online is with Animal Crossing: New Leaf for 3DS.
