Hey guys do you prefer to buy your games digital or retail? I prefer retail because i like to have games to display and put up on a shelf. Which way do you guys buy games?

Digital. I'm a minimalist in terms of possessions and so I don't like objects laying about unless it's an art piece lol

...Wasn't there a thread for this already?...Ah whatever, depends on the game for me. Tomodachi Life I got physical because it's a new series and I knew very little about it. Smash Bros. 3DS I'm getting digital because we all know that game will basically steal my life once I start playing. lol

Although I will say this: if I could have a "nostalgia" room, it would look like a super cluttered 80's nerd's room with clunky 80's tech and kitsch

Digital, because i hate having to go to the WII U to change disks. However, physical copies has its own benefits too, such as: selling the game if you don't like it, making a collection, can find cheaper prices on online stores, and its not tied to the system (no unified account yet, correct if wrong)

The risk of losing all your digital Nintendo purchases is too great for me most of the time so I stick to retail where possible.

Kids just busted my Lego City Undercover disc, but at least if that breaks I just lose one game instead of my whole collection.

Only Wii game I ever had get destroyed was Brawl but that game was a pain to get to read properly and I think I broke it trying to buff out scratches I couldn't even see. Wii U games don't seem to scratch easily like Wii games in my experience. My Lego City game had the entire disc cracked from a kid trying to take it out of the case improperly. Plus you cant loan games out when you buy digital.

It depends on the game. I generally prefer retail but I also don't like swapping disks.

I prefer retail for games that you can beat, have a story, etc since I tend to only play one of those at a time until I'm finished. For example, I prefer having retail versions of Zelda games. I prefer digital for games that I can easily hop in and out of for a few minutes and for games where I don't have to remember what I'm supposed to do next if I haven't played them in a long time. For example, I prefer having a digital version of Mario Kart.

Well technically with playstation plus, isn't that loaning specific games until the membership fee expires? Other than that, great points made

I prefer physical copies for two reasons. A) I like my game shelf, and B) I trade games online because the used game market has diminished. Sometimes I'll buy a digital copy of something if I'm lazy. Also, virtual console.

I go for physical whenever I can and I will continue to do so for as long as it's supported. I love the benefits of physical over the benefits of digital, and I simply just don't like digital for most things.

I prefer both. Digital is convenient and easy, while Retail adds to my collection and i just like physical copies. One problem I had with digital occurred a few months ago. I had my SD card with Animal Crossing in my computer, and it was accidentally stepped on and broken by my brother's girlfriend's daughter. So basically I lost my Animal Crossing and had to redownload it and start over. But i guess it was my fault for not being careful enough

Yeah, there's plusses and minusses to each. i do like the ability to just play a game on the fly w/out having the disc.

I'm somewhat of a collector, so i don't mind the discs, but they can be a pain if you are moving the system (i take mine to my GF's). It's pretty cool to be able to at least have a few games electronically available. So, besides indies, I have Wind Waker (got this bundle), NSMBU, Duck Tales Remastered (got it on sale) and Wii Sports Club

I prefer retail over digital, but I do like both. It just really depends on the type of game for me. For games that generally require a lot of time invested in it (EO or simulation games like HM and AC), I like to have it digital, just so I don't get too lazy to swap carts and never go back to the game. Haha. But since I love physical copies (I like to collect things!), I do tend to double dip for simulation games.

DIGITAL 4 LYFE BABY! (Where are the jpg's that used to be associated with this great principle).

I don't like the Fan Noise on the Wii U with a disk in. (I have physical copies of Sonic Lost World and Mario Kart 8 but I am going to get rid of both and just get a download of Lost World which I still do like playing other than the fan noise).

Before I decided that I was going to go entirely digital for the Wii U I looked at my 3DS activity history and noticed that regardless of how much I like something if it is digital I end up playing it lots more. (The amount of extra enjoyment I seem to get is more than the extra cost anyway).

3DS carts are ok for stuff I plan to play once and then never again. (I just change carts when I finish something cannot be bothered carrying them around).

classic question, to me Retail wins unless digital is a lot cheaper that's how I'll go until the day retail games don't have boxes anymore, since manuals are long gone(I hate what game manuals have become)

of course if we're talking about the WiiU only I can't say for sure, don't have one and I've heard digital is faster on home consoles because of optical drives being slower

Digital, Physical is too risky. I don't want any of my pets getting into my boxes and I don't want to have to find a place for the cases, plus all the dust. Digital is nice and easy. Everything is backed up on my account so if my Wii U ever breaks I just have to contact Nintendo and get all my games back. I also enjoy the unique games available only as Digital

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

If it's a game that I'll keep, then I'll buy digital. If it's a game that I'm not sure about, then I'll buy physical

Retail for me. It is easier to keep track of how many games I have and which ones. Besides the usual trading, lending, selling, collecting that only physical allows.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

MsJubilee

I pick both, but for me it depends on which game im buying to buy it on retail or digital.
