I would start selling to laypeople those lovely jackets I always see Nintendo employees wear at IwataAsks.

Untitled

also, I would ask employees not to wear wigs.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

I'd give myself the day off.

No, wait. I'd pay somebody to dress up like mario, then I'd pay a bunch of people to dress up like Goombas. Then I'd pay the Goombas to let the guy dressed up like Mario, hop on their heads.

Then I'd give myself the day off.

Let's see someone top this!

I would ensure that Dragon Quest X for Wii U and Dragon Quest VII for 3DS hit North America.

Also Monster Hunter 4.

Fire everybody in charge of marketing. Fire whoever who thought the second NSMB game in a year was a good idea. Fire whoever thought minigame collections (Wario & Party U) would help the system. Make sure that everybody realizes that if you're going to get exclusivity agreements for games, make sure people will want to play the games.

Buy the franchise from Namco and make a new Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiidgeeeee Raaaaaaaaaaaceeeeer! (We can all dream )

Let's play hypothetical CEO of Nintendo. What would you do to improve Wii U sales?

Here is what I would do.

First, I would buy the rights to Megaman from Capcom. Megaman is a classic NES title and I believe would be a huge acquisition to the Nintendo lineup. Second, I would pay Konami to either sell the Castlevania IP to Nintendo or to make an exclusive series of Castlevania games for the Wii U/3DS.
Third, I would announce three new games that would be delivered in episodic content. These episodes would not be like Half Life Episodes. Rather, they would be shorter in duration and would come out much more frequently. (Half Life episodes take roughly 5 hours to beat. These episodes would be roughly 3 hours). Each episode would be released as frequently as possible. If it is possible once a month. Each of three episodic series would be sold at about 8 bucks an episode or you could subscribe for 24 months worth of episodes for something like $99. Game number one would be a Metroid game, game 2 a Megaman game, and game 3 would be the long awaited but never made game about Julius Belmont...the last Belmont who finally defeated Dracula (none of this Lords of Shadow nonsense). Each of these series have cult followings that would bring people to the Wii U.
Fourth, I think I would also announce a Megaman inspired fighting game. You could choose from Megaman and unlock a wide variety of bosses that have appeared in the games over the years.
Boom, I just saved the Wii U.

And that's why you should never be CEO of Nintendo pointless amounts of spending and stuff that no even a ceo could make happen.

1. Hire a whole new advertising team and raise the advertising budget by 200%.
2. Sort out all this content ID rubbish on YouTube going on at the moment.
3. Ensure Star Fox, Metroid and F-Zero titles are being made on Wii U.

Oh lord

There would be a lot of changes on future console development, that's for sure. It wouldn't be cost effective to just restructure everything and start over, but I'd push the company in a direction to where it actually competed with other consoles.

Opposed to being the ridiculed and neglected step child of the console competition.

I think Nintendo needs to take the gloves off and compete directly with the ps4 / xbox 1. Nintendo acts as though they're not in competition because the others are making entertainment devices and Nintendo is making gaming devices. Fair enough, but we all know that they really are in competition with each other. Nintendo needs to talk directly to the playstation / xbox crowd and give them a legitimate reason to buy a Wii U. While also convincing Wii owners to upgrade to the Wii U. I think it's possible to do more than one thing at a time.

Being the incredible business man I am, I'd make all sorts of decisions that would save probably ruin Nintendo. Of course, since it's only for a day, Iwata would resume control and spend the next 6 months undoing the damages I accidentally caused in my hype. Though I would put GBA games on the 3DS. Then Nintendo would have one more money printer

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

Make Club Nintendo Australia decent.

Or more realistically, I'd just order a party... I think that's the only thing I would think of and could realistically do if I was suddenly turned into the CEO of Nintendo for a day.

Most of these posts are "how to make it worse"....

1. Get a marketing team that knows what to do. (You know, the same intense montage used in xbone and PS4's advertisement[s] )
2. Make SEGA an official second party (maybe just 2.5nd party)
3. Talk exclusives with Konami and Capcom.
4. Claim that a "big game" is coming "soon". It works for any form of media. Even "Something. Coming Soon." Would work. it's a general and non-committal statement. Even if the game isn't coming soon, it would work.

Since that's a lot for a single day, I'd retire to my humble abode to sleep.

I'd fire the whole marketing team and then hire the folks that wrote the Old Spice commercials. Then I'd have some words with the folks that decided "Wii U" was a good name for a console.

I'd spend the rest of the day speaking with some major third party devs, trying to reach an agreement of sorts.

I still don't understand why people think Wii U is such a bad name. I think the way Nintendo presented the Wii U was the trouble. People don't seem too confused with the Xbox One name.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

They made it clear that the Xbox One was not an add-on.
If they had at least called it the "Super Wii" or something, people would have known the difference despite the crappy marketing.
