So many good games, so many sales flops.

As long as the company can keep staying in business, I personally prefer that to the reverse.

The thing is the company can't stay afloat if it keeps producing sales flops.

No, that's not the thing at all.

I hope a lot of people in the U. S. buy it because I'd like to see Platinum and Nintendo do well. But I will not be picking this up. It looks too pervy. I would be embarrassed to play this around my family or female friends.

I thought Bayonetta was the poster child for how terribly big companies are run when a game sells over a million copies and is still considered a flop because every game has to sell 3+ million in order to be profitable, even with tons of DLC and unrecorded digital sales.

Nah that's every Platinum game.

Am I the only one who thinks Smash Wii U might meet the same fate? I mean, look at the facts. Home consoles are practically dead in Japan, they are most likely content with Smash 3DS (whereas in the West we're more likely to double dip), and Smash Wii U will probably release super close to Pokemon ORAS.

@IceClimbers Yeah, I don't think Smash Wii U will fare well in Japan, IMO.

Smash Mains:
N64: Captain Falcon
Melee: Mario
Brawl: Sonic
Project M: Link
Smash 3DS: Captain Falcon
Smash Wii U: Ganondorf

It's Smash you're talking about. Super Smash Bros. has always done a lot better in Japan than Europe, that's for sure. I don't think it'll be any worse than the sales of Smash in Europe.

Aren't the seasons different in Japan? Maybe this is an April Fools joke.

No, I also think it could flop but only if there's not characters/stages in the 3DS version that can only be unlocked if you own the Wii U version. But I'm not just thinking Japan only but rather worldwide.

Of course it did.
The game bombed as a multiplat on 2 consoles where there was actually an audience for the game, so its pretty much a guarantee for the Wii U.

Its still a day one purchase for me though and one of the major reasons I bought a Wii U.

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

Smash Wii U will sell about 75% of what Mario Kart sells. It's not as popular as MK but it's still a major game in every region.,

I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.

I'm not sure imo, Mario Kart sold more on the Wii and Smash sold more on the NGC. I reckon the Wii casual audience were more likely to go for Kart than Smash but with the Wii U users being Ninty fans & gamers I can see it being just as strong. The major difference between Smash & Kart this gen is people would buy a Wii U for Kart but are less likely to buy a Wii U for Smash due to it being around on the 3DS, I can't see a reason why existing Wii U owners wouldn't get it.

Melee only just beat Double Dash despite being released over a year earlier so to be honest you can essentially consider that another win for Mario Kart.

Eh, how exactly can a game that didn't sell as many copies as another beat it?

Yeah, it sold less with a larger installed base...
