DefinitelyMega Man I's boxart. @wiiplayer - wow, that is some weird boxart. I'm interested in Valis III. I watched Valis77's Let's Play on YouTube, admittedly.
In the tradition of Master System covers, there is the Konami's Best release of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for the DS. Instead of just adding a "Konami's Best" label to the original cover art, they used a photo of the original case. They also reprinted the ESRB and Konami logos, even though they were still perfectly readable from the original cover.
Seriously, Mega Man's box art is such a typical answer. Now if we're talking recent crappy Box art, then this takes the cake. What a bland, colorless crappy cop out cover which appeals to the Soccer Moms and videogame newcomers
It's safe to say that the Sega Master System had thee' worst Box art designs of all time. Mega Man's is golden compared to those ugly depressing bland pieces of trash
@Starfox That is a pretty crap-tastically made video, not even any elevator music.
@Donatello Actually, when i first saw the Mario Kart Wii box art, i loved it. I thought it was refreshing, almost avant-garde. I liked how it really showed off the hardware in a very simplistic was, instead of trying to have fakey action-packed crashing and "hardcore" lettering.
What always got me, even more so than some of the old NES covers, is the box art for PC games/console games that were in the "fifth" generation when 3D first came into play. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corpse_Killer
maybe its just me, but everything about this cover is poorly done, not just the bad CGI (the lighting alone it terrible, this came out 4 years after Terminator 2, wasn't CGI for games at least better than this? at least force a better mock-up for the box art).
of course, nothing beats the NA cover for Ico, which is just sad when compared to the artistic Japanese original.
Mega Man 1 (it's so bad, it's not even funny, unlike the other ones).
You forget - Mega Man as a series and as a character had yet to reach the recognition and popularity it gained later. Back when the art was produced, it was just another regular game. Now sure, as Mega Man art, it is clearly the worst of the whole series. But at the time it was originally released, there was a lot more bad artwork than that.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
