Probably kids nowadays who only play FPS or think retro games are bad are the ones that might think that. I've always found Zelda games to be the best.
Wanna know why I hate games like Halo? Well, what the plot? OK, plot is: "Kill all." great All characters are monsters/soldiers or something. Places are stypid. Everything is stupid.
Halo has a pretty involving plot, actually.
See that is my point.
I don`t hate halo games, personally. The story is bland and boring, but the gameplay is pretty fun. And it`s got some of the best multiplayer around. But halo does even compare to the glory of Zelda.
Zelda as a whole is pretty great, even if it has been pretty weak recently. I found Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass to be pretty poor and Twilight Princess to be kind of meh. (I did enjoy Spirit Tracks, though)
Honestly, I think the franchise is in danger of becoming stagnant.
"The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion."
No one "hates" Zelda games. Many people simply have too short an attention span for games like this. Regardless, there is a huge following, otherwise the series wouldn't have lasted.
However, the lack of attention spans is what killed the point-and-click. Too many people want things to happen, not to sit around and think. They'd rather kill monsters than solve puzzles.
I like the Zelda series because it gives me stuff to do when I'm stuck on a dungeon or whatever.
The only people who hate zelda and retro gaming in general are the young gamers of this generation who only play Modern Warfare 2 and Halo. MW2 and halo are both great games, but I fell sorry for the kids today who did not grow up with the classics.
I have to say, I disagree. I'm 21, I've been playing games since I was real little (my first game was Little Mermaid for NES, and that's from '91). I played the Zelda games. I enjoyed Link to the Past, but I can't get far anymore because I simply get bored. As a kid I always just messed around in Majora's Mask (running around in masks, and why the hell did I think dumping insects on Anju's desk was so hilarious?) and spent most of my time replaying the Pirate Fortress because I enjoyed combat.
I can't do it anymore. Even just messing around. I'm tired of the too similar storylines rehashed repeatedly and I simply don't enjoy puzzles or being confined to temples. It's not a matter of my attention span (which is enormous) but simply personal preference. On the other hand, my brother who is ten years younger than me adores the Zelda series.
Of course even though it was a part of my childhood every time I say I don't like Zelda (I don't hate it though) people jump down my throat, and try to tell me I'm wrong for having an opinion, but what can you do?
Well, not to Link. Zelda makes him Go on this Big Advencher, To Save the World, And at the end of all this. She Sent him home, like it never Happen.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I was never a fan of Zelda, I remember trying the first Zelda on the NES, back then I had no game manual or subscriptions to Nintendo Power or Internet Just the cartridge and the system. So to say, I quickly got bored because without the manual you have no idea how to play it. Ever since I stayed away from it until last year.
My girlfriends little brother likes the series. So I figured I give Phantom Hourglass a try. Since it was my first entry into the series I would say it was pretty fun little game and took no time to beat it felt like. I have bought most of the other games since then so when I have the time I can give them a go. I recently tried the follow up TLOZ: Spirit tracks, It really is a dumb down version of Phantom Hourglass and I got about 75+% finished before just giving up in boredom. Now I'm back in a slump with this series as mixed reviews are the norm and I have tons of other games I find myself wanting to play instead.
Since my re-entry into gaming I find myself really enjoying all the Metroid's and Kirby's of old and new which I never played. Maybe after these I'll lean into Zelda's Hyrule realm once more.
As for Halo, I played the first one on my PC, looked great for its time and It was fun for awhile. Around 80% into the game become too long and tedious to keep me enthralled. I ended up doing what I hate to do which was to enable God mode just to finish the game quicker to see the ending. Now thinking back, I cannot even remember the ending. When that happens, whats to keep me coming back into the series?! It leaves me with a empty unsatisfied feeling. The next game that gave me this feeling was F.E.A.R
If zelda wii wins GOTY over halo reach that would be the ultimate slap in xbox fanboy`s face.
Zelda isn't definetely coming this year (though Nintendo still seems to be trying to convince us it will.... so... maybe). Besides, it doesn't matter, because Galaxy 2 is going to win.
"Oooh, yes I said it! I said it! I said it 'cause I caaan!" My Backloggery
If zelda wii wins GOTY over halo reach that would be the ultimate slap in xbox fanboy`s face.
And if Halo Reach wins over Zelda that would be the ultimate slap in your fanboy's face?
Please could some users on this site stop starting fanboy-threads which have always the same conclusion: Xbox owners are the dumbest persons in the history of mankind, Wii owners are the most intelligent result of human evolution. It's really ridiculous. I wish some of these fanboys would finally place a console without a Nintendo tag next to their Wii. Maybe some would realize that there are many great videogames on Xbox360 or PS3, too. Enough talk, I have to continue playing Red Dead Redemption.
PS: Zelda is one of my favourite videogaming series. The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past is on second place in my personal TOP5. (Day of the Tentacle will always be number one)
I think people hate zelda because of the length of time you have to play the game before you can beat it, much less get to a good part. It took me 2 months of playing LttP before I got to Ganon, then 2 more days to beat him.
