I don't know why yet but I just don't like them. There is something with them that I just have no interest in.

Indeed.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

I've never met anyone who hates Zelda. I can see how it might not be some people's cup of tea, with all the puzzles and dungeons and all. Some people also don't like exploration, surprisingly. Personally, I think it's the best franchise in gaming, but I get why some might not appreciate it.

The only people who hate zelda and retro gaming in general are the young gamers of this generation who only play Modern Warfare 2 and Halo. MW2 and halo are both great games, but I fell sorry for the kids today who did not grow up with the classics.

People I know don`t exactly hate the franchise, they have just never played it, and if they did they would hate it cause they "didn`t know where to go." They mostly play shooters.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, would you kindly?

I don't think people truly hate Zelda games. There are simply better adventure games that have been made using the "Zelda-formula".

OoT was the first Zelda and completely out of this world. Majora's Mask was so different it even turned some people off despite it being incredible. Wind Waker was cell shaded and had a completely different environment and atmosphere. Twilight Princess went back to OoT standards - standard style 3D with land exploration, random monster duels in Hyrule and dungeon quests. Those are the only four 3D console Zelda's. Whoever is complaining about the series getting stale has probably just heard that said a few too many times from other people who have never played a Zelda game and don't know what they're talking about, and now they let themselves believe that argument because they're dull minded and can't actually analyze facts all by themselves. Zelda in itself is a concept. It is, basically, what it is. Those of you hoping for something completely different for the next Zelda game can't possibly be a true Zelda fan. Those of us who are - those of us completely and utterly engulfed by what the Zelda formula has to offer within its universe - don't want something completely different. A boat is different enough. Transforming into a Wolf is plenty different, just enough to not shift the foundation that Zelda was built upon. If you want something different, play a different game.

Only add me if you've gone through puberty and you're not an anime freak.

I don't hate Zelda but it is not my type of game. I don't like adventure or rpg games.
I don't like FPS games but I do admit to being easily bored or frustrated. I prefer linear games, I can cope with a game getting tricky as long as I know where I'm going and what I'm doing.

Wanna know why I hate games like Halo? Well, what the plot? OK, plot is: "Kill all." great All characters are monsters/soldiers or something. Places are stypid. Everything is stupid.

Such as...?

Sometimes I get tired of Zelda games because they feel a bit repetitive, but there is no question that they are quality adventures. From the first NES adventure to the most recent DS game, it's a great series.

People I've met who claim to hate Zelda tend to fall into two camps: console fanboys who hate anything Nintendo, or immature people who automatically hate anything that doesn't immediately gratify their personal preferences. (I can totally understand why people wouldn't care about Zelda, or how they might hate the excessive praise from Zelda fanboys out there. But that's different than hating the actual game.)

Yeah, I feel like the formula is getting stale too, but it's still fun. The first Zelda game I played was OoT, and whenever I play another Zelda game it just fails to blow me out of the water like that one did.

Nevertheless, after I get over that initial dissapointment, I'll find I played for 8 hours straight on a Saturday, only realizing I played that long, because I got really hungry. I complain about the puzzles being too easy, until I get to the 2-3 in the game that stump me to the point I want to throw the controller at the screen. It's sort of nice to not feel the need to resort to codebooks anymore. I'll never enjoy any of the games as much as OoT, but I'll still enjoy them a hell of a lot, so I've learned to accept and enjoy.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Who hates a Great Game like Zelda.

The only way can say Zelda is a Bad game, if your some jerk who never played Zelda, and just trying to sound cool by saying it sucks, like some 3rd Grade Kid who only played Games that Disney Makes......

the answer to any variations on the question "why do people hate/like xxxxxxxxxxxxx" is simply: different people have different opinions.

If zelda wii wins GOTY over halo reach that would be the ultimate slap in xbox fanboy`s face.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, would you kindly?

Maybe some people hate the series because of it's fanboys...?

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Halo has a pretty involving plot, actually.

I don't "hate" them; I just don't like playing action-adventure games that go on for weeks (keeping in mind I only have 60-90min. of game-time a day). Twilight Princess definitely had its moments, but I felt the main story was a bit too long and would rather have had a shorter core story experience with exploration and side-quests to lengthen the experience for the die-hard fans.

Having said that, I'm certainly curious to see what the new Zelda game is going to be like because I was impressed with the level of storytelling in Twilight Princess. It really stood out as a "maybe games can offer a narrative as compelling as that of a film" moment for me.
