I recently bought an original NES and also a Game Genie and a couple games (SMB / Duck Hunt dual and Spy vs Spy).
Problem: When I play games directly on NES I have no problems. But if I use Game Genie I get exactly 32 pcs of vertical lines (might br more if they are outside visible screen) on my screen...
The lines also move with screen on some occasions, ie. when I start the dual game, in the very beginning (= game selection) when top part of screen moves horizontally to one direction the lines also move with the screen and the same in the lower part of screen where the image move to the opposite direction horizontally...
Already cleaned NES, GG, games. Also bent the connection GG and NES... No effect...
It's hard for me to think of a reason other than a connection problem.
Not unless there's some weird game-specific thing (like I heard the GG firmware messes with Mega Man 2's sound engine. Like that game expected some kind of pre-initialized state of the sound hardware.)
Hello,
and thanks for your reply and opinion... Yes, I agree, that it was the main thing I also thought would be the problem... but I allready did straighten the pins, hhhmmm... maybe did not do it good enough..
I'm not sure, but think I've seen images of two hardware versions of GameGenie. The newer looked to have 1 traditional capacitor, I would assume the older has more, maybe they have leaked or dried up or something...
But would not like to ruin the GG sticker etiquette (screws are under it) by opening the GG...
Maybe will see again the pins of both GG and NES...
