@BlackHoleStorm How would you propose they should have used them, so they wouldn't be classified as gimmicks?
@PopetheRevXXVII Megaman 9 was bound to happen eventually, Capcom sucks that IP dry. And to be honest, it seems quite bland. Also, note how I said almost always.
Edit: I really don't feel like continuing this extremely petty argument with you. Enjoy complaining~

I love it that people constantly bring up how nintendo makes the same games over and over and how bad it is, and still, stuff like Call of Duty, Fifa, Assassins Credd and whatnot are the best selling franchises there are and nobody seems to care that these are practicly carbon copys of themselfes each year.
Granted, nintendos franchises exist for far longer, that doesnt mean that they should completely chage the formular. "If it aint broke, dont fix it" As simple as that. Nintendo tinkers with their major franchises quite a lot. We had our 2D Marios, 2D Yoshis, 3D open level Marios (64, Sunshine), 3D linear Marios (Galaxy, 3D World) and the only thing that these games have in common are the general theming and the cast. These are all different games.
Regarding the "innovation, creativity and gimmicks": What exactly is a not gimmicky innovation ? How could the ballance board ever be used without beeing called gimmicky ? For example, it did the best it could with PunchOut Wii and still, it was labled as gimmicky. Motion controlls are gimmicky ? Have you ever played Metroid Prime 3 ? From the pointer aiming to the use of the grapple beam, everything feels natural. Its not nintendos fault that nobody cared to spend a little more effort when it came to their control schemes.
The biggest problem arent the gadgets themselfes, its the whole business. Games need to be in the "safe zone" There is no room for experimentation anymore or else they might sell just 6million times instead of 7...
So, there is little time spent experimenting with new ways to control you game, just stick with your old control schemes "If it aint broke, dont fix it"
But here lies the problem. You cant simply invent something completely new and expect it to be perfect from the get go. Nowadays, console FPS arent shunned anymore, because the control scheme and the controlers themself had a decade to evolve. They could become what was needed. If every new invention is threated as "bah, gimmicky, do not want" this sort of evolution cannot happen anymore. You need at least a whole console generation to implement such a thing. I still remember how people first reacted to the analog stick, how my best friend couldnt use it to save his life and simply sticked with the DPad whenever he could. Nowadays, its a bad thing if your device only has a single stick.
People need to give certain things the time they need to evolve. No one i know still thinks that the second screen of the DS was a stupid idea. By the time the 3DS came around, the second screen was a given.
If people back then would have had the same attitude than people now, we would still use single button joysticks...

Atari paved the way for gaming today. Nintendo didn't.

Alright this is when I stop taking this guy seriously. Do you remember the video game crash of 1983?

The first game is why I have an N64

Also Sin and Punishment wasn't released outside of Japan. Unless you went out and bought a Japanese N64 to go play a Japanese game.

Edit: Oh wait these are two different people...

DS they had Lost in Blue, this could have been furthered by having to make your own flints for the bow and arrow by tapping the screen to break the flint.
With Zelda, you could have drawn on screen to use the spells (like in Zelda 2, LttP with its medallions and OoT)
With Mario they could have had you wipe the screen with the stylus when shooting fireballs to change the strength at which he throws them.

Wii
Swordfighting, similar to the mechanics in Skyward Sword, Wiimote as sword, Nunchuk as shield
Adding the mechanic to Zelda games so you hold the Wiimote as the bow, then pull back with the Nunchuk as the arrow, they could have even made that into a game itself.
Picking up on how much your hands are trembling so in horror games the camera gets affected, by shaking, tinting the colour or even both and in stealth games making it so you have more of a chance of getting caught.

Wii U
That system is IDEAL for a Silent Scope game, by holding the controller up to the screen it shows your zoomed target, while keeping the screen as an overview.

As for Mega Man being milked, far from it. They cancelled 2 and instead just support fan made games, which I actually respect but at the same time find it kind of lazy.

Don't forget that was the early days of consoles. Yes Atari made duck moves, but they learnt, got past them and went on creating consoles then eventually went into game development only.

What I meant by they paved the way was that a lot of what they did moved from system to system and is still being used today, or adaptations which have come from it.

EDIT: Made it clearer what I meant

I stopped playing Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed because they went Annual. That Point is moot on me. Microsoft too, all they have is Halo, Gears of War and Fable.... D4, Quntam Break anything else on XBOX one... 5 years nobody will remember them and the cycle begins anew and it'll just be Halo.

In a few posts I mentioned I'm not a Nintendo Fan. As a company I hate Nintendo.

At least you understand that they are a company, profits and all that jolly good!
Decisions made by the entity you hate, preserve the longevity of the "fun" you embrace.

Being hot under the color about decisions made by Nintendo could just as easily make you a fan. So I don't really accept that.

Blackhole and I aren't the same person. Blackhole is a friend of mine though. Though it doesn't help my case that I agree we're overdue for a new Silent scope
