You couldn't be more wrong about the SSB franchice. Melee and Brawl offer one of the most deepest experiences I've come across, and I consider myself a pretty big fighter buff. I have a huge feeling you've barely played either of them. Just because there isn't a huge list of moves as seen in something like DOA, Soul Calibur or VF doesn't mean it isn't deep. It's all about dodging, when to block, when to air dodge, double jumping, deflecting items ect ect, there is just so much to it! To call it a button masher is ridiculous.
This.
And Pokemon is just sooooo repetitive. About halfway through I just give up on fighting and try to avoid every trainer. The combat is just boring as sin.
SSB's fighting is deep, agreed. Anyone who thinks it is a button-masher isn't playing properly, simple as that.
As for Pokemon, combat is certainly not boring. I guess its a matter of taste, though, so not worth arguing. Like SSB, the battling in Pokemon is very deep, and like SSB, if you find it repetitive, then you're doing it wrong
Maybe not boring, but I wouldn't call it deep. I guess it's just because I hate turn based combat. It's the most ridiculous and boring thing ever conceived >: O
It is deep. Deep meaning complex and intricate. If you actually get into it, there's tons of stuff to fiddle around with. Still, if you don't like turn-based combat, you're not gonna find it fun.
Ocarina of Time. 1. The Frame Rate and Targeting are very primitive. 2. It's obselite compared to the newer ones. 3. I don't usually judge games based on difficulty, but this is insane. 4. The Items are bland. 5. Navi has to distract you EVERY 5 SECONDS. HEY HEY LISTEN LISTEN
It's cool if you don't like it, but these reasons are terrible.
The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
@Mickeymac Indeed, turn-based isn't for everyone. I generally prefer real-time myself, with the exception of Pokemon and Paper Mario.
Very true. Personally, I prefer turn-based games, since action-RPGs can become very repetitive, yet I never tire of commanding minions to do my bidding.

I hate Combo based fighters....There's zero fun in mesmerizing a ton of random buttons and directional arrows. It's unsatisfying if you ask me. Virtual Fighter is the worst when it comes to this. I like fast paced kentic action, like SSB Brawl and Street Fighter. They are the complete opposite of button mashers. I also can't stand those mediocre DBZ fighters either, bluh.
Very true. It saddens me so, because the new Mortal Kombat looks awesome, but I know it's going to be one of those combo mesmerizing games

I'm not going to say I didn't like Pokemon, because the original GB game was the bee's knees, but that's the only one I've actually played. They come out with a new one (or fifty) every year and I still don't care. I stopped caring after they added 9 million Pokemon to the originals.
GTA... this is going to sound weird but it's too open. I will get Retro City Rampage though. Hmm, and most FPS. Somehow I developed minor motion sickness in the last 3 years. Just randomly showed up while I was playing Metroid Prime. I kinda forced myself to play Prime. I got headaches and felt disoriented but I needed to finish it. I really want to enjoy Prime 2 and 3 but... Does motion sickness start from you are born or does it develop? I also need to wear glasses which I don't, could that be another factor.
It got great reviews but I never heard anything about it by word of mouth. If I wasn't obsessed with video games, I probably wouldn't have even heard of Final Fantasy 11 or 12. I have FFXII but haven't played much of it yet. My friend says it's the best one since VII
It has its fans, and it is a good game in its own right. It just deviates from the classic gameplay so many of the core fans of the series tend to shun it before they've ever given it a real chance.

I don't think you need to be obsessed with games that have gotten rave reviews and sold millions of copies worldwide. If you do, than what am I, since I've played games none of you have ever heard of?(if you know what Live-A-Live and Summon Night are, then you're officially part of the club )
@Mickeymac You only think that way because you take for granted everyone knows about Final Fantasy, but even if someone had heard of Final Fantasy before, FFXI and FFXII are two more obscure titles in the series.

Please, just because it's not talked up constantly like FF6 or 7 doesn't necessarily make it "obscure". Besides, I'm just saying that there's "having genuine interest" and being "obsessed". Trust me, you're no where close to being "obsessed".

I didn't say it was obscure, I said it was more obscure than the others in the series. I'm not trying to prove my obsessiveness or try to "win" by knowing more obscure titles. And trust me, if you ask Joe Schmo on the street, most likely the only reason they know Final Fantasy XI or XII even exist is because they heard about Final Fantasy XIII. I have a few friends who have an interest in video games and they didn't even know it until FFXIII came out. All I'm saying is, they're not exactly well-known titles, outside of certain circles. You might be surprised how few people have heard of the Final Fantasy series.
@KaiserGX " I also need to wear glasses which I don't, could that be another factor." I'd say so. Your brain doesn't like moving out-of-focus images on a screen X_X
I hope so, I'm suppose to have an appointment soon.
Bionic Commando Rearmed - I was never ever crazy over the original either, and this remake just annoys me.
Lost Planet 1/2 - Clunky and boring...Another game with flashy graphics, unintuitive controls and sleep inducing gameplay. Like many shooters, Sony's Move would change alot of this for the better
Halo - Generic, Overrated, nothing special....Alot of people(and the trailers) act like it's the coming of god, our savior, like a momentous occasion that you nobody should miss. * Sonic the hedgehog - Mediocre sloppy platforming, With moments of speed that you basically watch instead of play. Sonic Rush is even worse for this. Sonics speed gimick in the Genesis days won me over, but as soon as the SNES came out with Super Mario World I was blow away and tossed Sonic to the side.
Guitar Hero - No....just no. There are so many tweens who master this game who think they're Rock gods that can actually play a guitar. Zombies, dance games and Guitar Hero are becoming so casual it's sickening....But I still love Zombies! In Resident Evil for the most part.
Dead Rising - Yikes....It gets extremely boring after 20 minutes. Just shut off your brain, pick up various objects and weapons and hack the undead! Yawn. Lost Planet and Dead Rising are complete Next Gen duds if you ask me.
Oh yeah, Final Fantasy XII was another game which i didn't like. It was just boring string of endless battles mixed with uninteresting plot, forgettable music and dull characters. After parts VII, VIII, IX and X which all i loved, this game was just utter dissapointment.
I must say halo, Personally a first person shooter has to be I don't know .....ENJOYABLE!? After twenty minutes I ran back home to GladOs,Faith and Samus Aran.
I actually prefer pokemon to other RPGs. The battle system is fun because there are so many different attacks for your pokemon to learn as they level up. Also, your party doesn't have to have the same characters the entire way through. You, the trainer, depending on your tastes, can catch whatever pokemon fits your tastes and/or needs. My favorite part, thought, has always been evolving. That's so freaking awesome!
