Halo (absolute bore) Portal (good, but not as good as some say. Disappointing) Chrono Trigger (Seriously Overrated. Its ok, but not nearly as good as everyone makes it to be. I lost interest in it after a while)
Halo series, overrated mediocre first person shooter. Final Fantasy, not a turn-based RPG fan at all. Mass Effect, is it a third person shooter, or is it an RPG? I'm not sure, but they don't do either well... World of Warcraft: I have a policy about investing in games for eternity just to see a new flashy item every other week. By the way, if your like me and don't like to pay for an MMO you've already paid for at the retail store then I would Suggest Guild Wars.
World of Goo and Halo and GTA san andreas (well I liked but I actually just reinstalled vice city after getting it because it is just waaaay better ) and probably quite a few others
Even though I've never have or never would waste my money on this series but I've been to plenty of other people's houses who insist on playing this series, but probably the worst "fad" game on any system from the history of video games and I'm surprised nobody mentioned it:
Guitar Hero series. And Rock Band. Great Music does not make a great game.
Grand Theft Auto series Ghost Recon series Call of Duty series Tekken 4, unfortunately Wii Sports and Wii Fit Resident Evil 4 & 5 (4 was good, but NOT as a Resident Evil game) Quake 2 and 3 Outtrigger on Dreamcast Unreal Tournament The Legend of Zelda Windwaker, not because of the graphics which i liked, but travelling by sea is BORING. Zelda are games in Hyrule, period. Mario & Sonic sports games Defender 1 & 2, boring Street Fighter 2 on the Snes & Megadrive; awful conversions due to the low resolution and processor power of the consoles. Daytona USA and Sega Rally on the Saturn, see Street Fighter 2 for the Snes/MD; due to resolution and power issues. Ecco and Vectorman games on Megadrive. Return to Castle Wolfenstein on PC and consoles Broken Sword games in 3D Tomb Raider Legend Final Fantasy XII for PS2 Mortal Kombat 1-3's awful arcade conversions to the 16-bit consoles. See Streetfighter 2 Red Faction 2 and Guerilla Sega Rally 2 for Dreamcast due to low frame rate and level of detail.
Anything with Final Fantasy in the title. Not my cup of tea. Horrendous voice acting and bad plot/dialogue doesn't help either.
Oblivion. "Look at our great wide open world!" Yeah, well, it didn't help that you'll encounter the same environment, buildings, monsters, etc. wherever you go. Combat was pretty sucky. Fallout 3 barely squeaks by due to the VATS system. Without it it would feel similarly clunky. Traversing Oblivion's menus could be quite a chore, too.
Burnout Paradise. Open world racing. Such a terrible idea. I don't even want to find out what the Need For Speed MMO will be like, which seems to be an even worse idea.
Super Smash Brothers franchise: button mashers extraordinaire. Bleh.
Mario Kart Wii: unbalanced and unfun.

You couldn't be more wrong about the SSB franchice. Melee and Brawl offer one of the most deepest experiences I've come across, and I consider myself a pretty big fighter buff. I have a huge feeling you've barely played either of them. Just because there isn't a huge list of moves as seen in something like DOA, Soul Calibur or VF doesn't mean it isn't deep. It's all about dodging, when to block, when to air dodge, double jumping, deflecting items ect ect, there is just so much to it! To call it a button masher is ridiculous.
This.
Anyways, I'd say Street Fighter, Gears of War and Pokemon. I've only played Street Fighter 2 and 2 Turbo (god they milked this game), but I find that no matter how good you are, some nooby just mashing buttons can still beat you. That, and playing it solo is boring as all hell because the computers just spam special attacks.
Gears is just bland and boring. The gameplay is nothing special at all, the graphics are terrible (they're highly detailed, but it's all brown and gray and looks dreadful) and the stories nothing special. The only redeeming factor for me is John DiMaggio. Man I love that guy.
And Pokemon is just sooooo repetitive. About halfway through I just give up on fighting and try to avoid every trainer. The combat is just boring as sin.
The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
Whenever I turn it on it makes me realize that I could be having more fun playing IX, VII, or even XII.

SSB's fighting is deep, agreed. Anyone who thinks it is a button-masher isn't playing properly, simple as that.
As for Pokemon, combat is certainly not boring. I guess its a matter of taste, though, so not worth arguing. Like SSB, the battling in Pokemon is very deep, and like SSB, if you find it repetitive, then you're doing it wrong
Maybe not boring, but I wouldn't call it deep. I guess it's just because I hate turn based combat. It's the most ridiculous and boring thing ever conceived >: O

Ocarina of Time. 1. The Frame Rate and Targeting are very primitive. 2. It's obselite compared to the newer ones. 3. I don't usually judge games based on difficulty, but this is insane. 4. The Items are bland. 5. Navi has to distract you EVERY 5 SECONDS. HEY HEY LISTEN LISTEN
