Topic: For the love of Metroid

Metroid's Japanese 25th came and went.
NES Metroid was released a year later in the US.
Maybe Nintendo will do something this year, and I hope they do, for their sake. Because if they don't, I will personally shinespark over to Nintendo's WA headquarters, shoot down Reggie's door, and threaten to lay a Power Bomb if he doesn't give Samus the recognition she deserves.
(I would go to Iwata but he's a bit far)

@MetroidMasher17 You're being surprisingly realistic about where you can travel considering you're talking about shinesparking and laying power bombs.

Wouldn't the nintendo ninjas stop them.

1. Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA)
2. Metroid II: Return of Samus (GB)
3. Metroid 3: Super Metroid (SNES)
4. Metroid 4: Metroid Fusion (GBA)

There isn't anything else left to put on a Metroid compilation anyway.

However, it is not needed... With Prime Trilogy, Other M, and Super Metroid on VC we already have the best to play on Wii. Plus the original Metroid on VC too. Still, I'd love to have Zero Mission, Return of Samus, and Fusion on Wii as well.

I think Prime Trilogy and Other M were released a bit early. Nintendo 3 years ago: "Hey, we're working on two of the best Metroid games for the Wii - a brandnew direct sequel to Super Metroid called Other M, and a compilation of all Prime games called Trilogy. The best thing is, we release them NOW - for Metroids 25th anniversary in 3 years".

Just forget Mario's, Zelda's, and Kirby's anniversary. Metroid's anniversary was the best!!

Im thinking nintendo isn't giving metroid the respect it deserves, I mean look at other m why would they let team ninja ahhh I don't even want to talk about it

Don't forget Kid Icarus! (It's 26 years old this year [2012] so it kinda got a 25 anniversary game)

Besides Samus being a bit emo, I really don't see why so many people like other M. I like the Primes better personally, but I like other M as well! The story really isn't that bad.
Though it does kind of suck it leaves some things unanswered.....avoiding spoilers here...

Josh my biggest problem with other m was that it was way I mean waaaay to liner. Go to point a to point b and yeah the fact they made samus into a brat didn't help much either. Sad thing is it could have been a great game if it was done by either nintendo or retro

But the problems with other m were the story which was done by nintendo. And it probably wouldn't have been a great by retro as its really different from the prime games.

The lack of any music and lack of exploration were also complaints.

Yeah. Well, like I mentioned, I do like the Prime's better. I like to be able to really explore for myself and find things (even though scanning at first felt more like a job then interesting). I just think people are a little bit too hard on Other M. I'm really hoping for something similar to the Prime games for the Wii U....realistic looking too....I'm not real big on the idea of how Nintendo likes to go a little extra cartoony with some series like Zelda, when they can look so good in a realistic world; though at the same time, I do understand that the Wii is limited with it's 'realistic' graphics anyway, so I do see what they are trying to do.

Yeah though I'm nit sure the exploration one is a real complaint. I mean fusion is one of my favorite games and that's pretty linear.

It's not even that it's linear, after you complete the story, the game shows you where the rest of the secret missile expansions/energy tanks are, which destroys the exploration part of the game. (Which is what every Metroid game is all about.)

retro did donkey Kong country returns and look at how that turned out retro would have done a way better job than team ninja I think they understand what metroid is all about and if you're like me growing up playing the original metroid and super you should understand. Even though prime was first person it still had that metroid feel to it. Other m was still a good game just not as good as the others. I think other m main problem was how liner it was and yeah the story was bad but i didn't expect much from it, what i did expect was to have a little freedom to explore and kind go of the beaten path but could not and i was let down by that big time

see i didn't care much for fusion either. To me nothing will top super, prime was the only thing that came very close to do so

I would love to see how retro would do a classic sidescrolling metroid

Why wouldn't that be a utter waste of their talents and the point of the studio.

Kid Icarus hasn't exactly been active in the past 26 years though, and its only had 3 games now. 2 not counting the new Kid Icarus Uprising and 1 if you don't count the one only released in America. It really hasn't been a series until possibly now.
