@Jacknotty59 I found that once I'd gotten beyond the first gym money started coming pretty thick and fast.

I found I had to ignore the Mart at first because I didn't have enough money, and the little I had got wasted using Poké Balls that didn't capture the Mon I tried for. So instead I just had to grind until my Mon were levelled up enough to beat the first gym.

After that there's loads of trainers dotted around you can part from their cash. I soon had more money than I could be bothered to spend. Unless you decide to save up for a bike of course

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

Don't bother saving up for a bike.

If you run out of trainers and treasures to get money from, you can always rebattle the elite four, or teach pay day to one of your pokemon.

Hopefully you didn't lock yourself out of that one city you need to buy tea to get into.

I would reccomend just going back through a bunch of old routes to fight trainers. You likely skipped a few!

I do stupid stuff on youtube.com/mysticbros, so check it out if your bored or whatever.
Or don't, it's your time after all.

You can't buy the bike. If you notice, it's actually a dollar than you can possibly have.

@MysticGengar Tea isn't in Gen 1. Though it is true that you have to buy a drink.
That and Safari Zone at the only places in the game you HAVE to spend money to proceed. So, hopefully you have some money to spare.

Yes, that means at Safari Zone, DO NOT run out of money. Save-scum if you get low on money for affording the Safari Zone as there are two items inside that you MUST collect to proceed. Gold Teeth and HM03

You don't really need money to enter the Safari Zone in Yellow, if I remember correctly.

They just let you in with less safari balls if you're short on money.

The only renewable ways to earn money in Yellow were the move payday - which is painfully slow - or re-battling the elite 4. There is no way to re-battle regular trainers and no respawning items you can farm and sell.

No. There are lots of ways to get money, even when you defeat all trainers.

You can battle Elite Four forever, and it always gives money.
You can use Pay Day in a battle, and it will give you money. It's level-up move for Meowth, but it also can be learned from TM16 which Pikachu can learn.
You can earn coins in the Game Corner by playing, and sell the prizes. It's hardly optimal because it takes 3300 coins to get 2500 money, but hey, you can.
You can move items from another game (even one that you just began) using Pokémon Stadium 2, and sell them in-game.
Also, it's possible to abuse glitches.
Hope that helps.
Thanks

Most of those hints are limited in usefulness, especially for a single-player game without link capabilities.
(something that seems like it wasn't well considered during the first two generations. I mean Gen 2's capabilities for farming money were there but still kind of weak. Not to mention getting evo stones in Gold and Silver. LUL )

Battling Elite Four doesn't help if you're still playing the game to get there.
TM16 is on an island which requires Surf which doesn't help if you went broke before you could get it from the Safari Zone in Fuschia, but then you also have to beat Koga as well to use Surf. Also, Meowth is Blue exclusive. (surely it was specifically removed from Yellow because it was a "Team Rocket" Pokemon in the anime, and Yellow was clearly a limited attempt at an "anime" version).
