It used to be Gold, Silver and Crystal, but the remakes on DS, HeartGold and SoulSilver, are done so well, those are my favorites now. They really add much more to their originals than the FireRed and LeafGreen versions did to Red and Blue. It also corrects many issues in the original like removing Viridian Forest, which is back now. And the new things from Crystal are in it, too.

It really is the best Pokémon game made even better.

1. Crystal
2. Yellow
3. platinum
4. Emerald

I like the special ones best because of the extra features. Crystal is my favorite because I can play as a girl and because you have two areas and two sets of gyms.

I'm probably going to be the only one to say that Emerald was their favourite game.

gold/silver/crystal but probably about to become heartgold/soulsilver
@infernape Emerald is good, but the new pokemon were underwhelming for the most part. However, it did have the better battle frontier imo.

For me, it's easily Gold/Silver. Gold was my first pokemon game and I played it, literally, to death. After countless hours of playing the game just broke!

Crystal. somehting magical about that game. just enough new pokemon outside of the original 151 to keep things interesting, without seeming forced. it was magical. things just started getting strange after that game and lost their appeal.

I don't like pokemon anymore, but I did like emerald alot when I was younger. Currently, the only one I own is Rumble, which I enjoy.

Just let it happen.

Fuzzy

I played Blue heaps when I was younger, and a little bit of Silver. I might try and track down a copy of Leaf Green and give that a go, because I spent so much time on Blue. I loved it.

2nd gen and 1st gen will always be the best but my absolute favorite would have to be Crystal because it was Gold/Silver but more polished.

I'll never forget those nights I spent trying to beat Whitney's Milktank with my underleveled Croconaw. Ah good times

Then wait till you see HG/SS, it's gonna be even more polished. And Miltank is as hard as ever.

Pokemon Snap!

I've never been one for turn-based yawn-ness, so an on-rails shooter was a really nice surprise. I play it quite often on VC, you can upload your shots to the message board now, so as to spam friends. Heh.

Noire

Platinum right now, though SoulSilver will take the spot once the games are released here in North America.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
