Lieutenant Commander of the Lesbian Love Brigade
There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
Favorites: 2D platformers/action adventures (Super Mario Bros, Castlevania), turn-based strategy (Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, Civilization), board/card/logic games (sudoku, solitaire, chess) ... last but not least: pinball
Least favorite: JRPGs (bleh!), fighting (my reflexes suck), simulations (boooring), party games (shovelware extravaganza)
I dislike genres, as they are pigeonholing and hinder creativity. Also, educational games can be fun. Age of Mythology anyone? However, I do hate games that force entertainment on you (Spellodrome, Maths Invaders) etc., expecially because the people who buy them have no clue about gaming and think they're actually fun/cool. So yeah, I like games where the developer put in a lot of effort and it paid off, and dislike games where the developer is simply taking advantage of the consumer. They are the only two genres I think you should have.
Tought question. I'll have to go with the "more than one in each section" method to give you something resembling an accurate answer.
Favorites: RPG (mostly JRPG, with very few western ones mixed in), action-adventure, platformer, adventure (the good ones, like SBCG4AP, Sam & Max, and Monkey Island).
Least favorites (keeping in mind there are exceptions to every rule): Sports, racing, sim, uber-complicated strategy, FPS.
Biggest middle-ground (due to wide variety of sub-genres): Puzzle. I'm not as likely to enjoy a falling-block puzzler (again, with exceptions), but I do quite like stuff like Cuboid, Cloning Clyde, and Lit.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
