Peek-a-boo

I'm just trying to figure out what this 'D' word is that's so terrible!

Anyways, I am happy to say that that Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is AMAZING.

Who knew that chasing after and fighting a boss made up of hundreds of little Pac-Men could be so fun?

The avatar and theme is a nice surprise too.

@Octane You really should consider to start playing Bloodborne ASAP!

@Peek-a-boo I just started playing The Witcher 3; Need to finish that first. I know I'm postponing it, but I really want some time without any new releases to play Bloodborne; that's likely not happening until Spring 2017 unfortunately.

@Peek-a-boo I'll give you some hints.

Dat lip doe.

Now, with the power of the internet, you too can experience mid-2000s American politicians (Republicans). Enjoy that.

@Ralizah Ah, now I know.

Is it really THAT terrible though?!

A photo of Donald Trump would fit rather nicely with those three.

I play a first person shooter / walking simulator where my only buttons are shoot, walk, and reload, maybe then we can start talking about "meaningful interactivity."

And I think whether you should buy TLoU Left Behind comes down to your taste in walking simulator's. It's got a playful interpretation on the game's mechanics as well as some standard shoot-and-loot with infected, but it's mostly a 2-hour walk-and-talk with some more excellent cutscenes.

Nothing you just wrote makes sense. I don't even know where to begin. Maybe I'll just ask this: what is a walking simulator? I mean, by your definition. Not the commonly accepted definition put the general gaming community, as well as the developers of Walking simulators, since you clearly don't follow that.

Also: What is your definition of "interactivity"? Again, it's apparently a word you've defined yourself, regardless of common usage, but at the very least, I'd like some context here.

@Peek-a-boo It would, but I prefer not to insert my political biases into unrelated discussions (we'll leave the fact that I deliberately found an ugly picture of Cheney to use aside, thank you very much)

(inb4 someone snarks about it being hard not to find an ugly picture of Cheney)

It's alright. Now I have a legit reason to refer to Cheney as He Who Must Not Be Named.

@CanisWolfred Games that slow down to have longer dialogue or pure walking sequences—especially mechanically light ones—start to feel like walking simulators, I find. It's about how developed the mechanics are: No Man's Sky is a lot closer to the walking simulator end of the scale than something like Deus Ex, etc.

Do you better understand what I wrote now?

D...dude, that would make Paper Mario a "walking simulator." That's not the right term. The term you're thinking of is "slow-paced". I get what you're talking about, now, but just for future reference, you know?

No, I mean "walking simulator-y." I'm trying to shame lethargic game development, not encourage it to be even more lethargic!

And what part of Paper Mario are you thinking of?

Oh. That did not come across before. "Walking Simulator" is an actual genre, so using it as a perjorative...well, I guess there isn't a good term. I usually just call that a "bad game" and call it a day. The part at the beginning where you questioned the legitimacy of "meaningful interactivity" didn't help, either. If anything, the lack of "meaningful interactivity" is what you're calling "walking simulator-y". Except I'd argue that the former is faaar more self-explanitory, and perhaps more conducive to your point...unless I'm still missing something. Maybe I should've asked more questions before, I really didn't understand a single sentence. I had an inkling after the first and last sentence, that was it.

[Ugly crying] It's— It's so beautiful!!! It's everything Sony left out of their TGS press conference!

Everything about Gravity Rush 2 looks perfect.

For real. Final Fantasy is getting a hard shelving once this comes out at MIDNIGHT.

Peek-a-boo

As much as I like Sony's first party line-up across all four PlayStation generations, it really does bother me when they don't even show Gravity Rush 2 at their 'big show' conferences and events.

Instead of that Day's Gone trailer at E3, this could have taken its place. Instead of leaving it out out of their own Gamescom sizzle reel trailer, put something in, even if it is just a two-second glimpse at the artwork and logo. Instead of showing the artwork and logo at Tokyo Games Show, show the blooming game!

I don't get it to be honest. Both Gravity Rush and Tearaway were two of the best games on the PS Vita, and come the remastered re-releases on the PlayStation 4, neither were barely mentioned let alone shown.

A sad state of affairs.

:EDIT: In other news, Resident Evil VII has got its first 'proper' trailer that lasts a shy over three minutes. It is going for the The Hills Have Eyes and Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibe, which the 'dinner time' scene shows in abundance.

Spooky...

The release date is still on track for the 24th of January too!

What if that Gravity Rush trailer was being completely literal and the big twist of that game is that they actually turn the world 180 degrees vertically, turning it upside down?

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Octane

@Haru17 I could see that happening, lol.

Okay, here's what I don't get about the new game; at first it was supposed to take place in a new world (you know the one that is 2.5 times bigger than the original game). And now they're revealing that the first game's setting will also be a part of this game. That means that 1) this game is huge and 2) this will truely be the last entry in the franchise; No Gravity Rush 3. At least not as a direct sequel.

Anyway, it's good to know that the game will try to make some sense. But it's a bit of a bummer that we had to wait an entire game to know the what up on the tower. That should've been in the first place.. Complaining aside; Still looks amazing, I can't wait to play it.

Octane

Haru17

@Octane Why does pulling a Gold & Silver make you think that this'll be the last game in the series? That's not to say that I don't—the entire marketing campaign (or lack thereof) and the tone of this trailer especially say as much—but I don't get how you're connecting those particular dots.
