In the last 3 weeks I've had one hour each week to play my PS4. In each of those weeks it's taken an hour to update either the game or system and I've given up trying to play anything. It's not even like theyr'e new games I've been trying to play- Bloodborne and Madden 16.

Whatever happened to the ease of console gaming?

(Of course I haven't had this problem with my Wii U).

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

@Octane: Where'd you get your numbers? Are they including digital sales?

Just asking you why when Nintendo get 3 & 4th place in the SKU sales in a month and one exclusive in the top 3 overall it's a "small cause for celebration"?

Well, because I believe it is a small cause for celebration!

Like I said, it is always great to see a Nintendo game in the top ten, let alone two very different Wii U exclusive games. If Twilight Princess HD was sitting at the top of the NPD software charts and Pokken sold almost half a million for example, then that would have been a big cause for celebration!

As for Ratchet & Clank, I am curious to see if it beats the opening month sales for their best selling Ratchet & Clank game in the US, which is 'Up Your Arsenal' on the PlayStation 2 back in November 2004; sold a shy over 207,500 in three days.

@Octane: I personally wouldn't use VGChartz as gospel - their numbers are all over the place, especially considering they never match the figures when Sony provides a milestone (in sales), or when Nintendo release their official numbers during their quarterly investor meetings.

Only 24 more days to go for Uncharted 4. Oh, I cannot wait!

@Peek-a-boo: I don't, but it's the best we have when it comes to sales numbers. They're not always spot on, but they're close enough to draw comparisons. If VGChartz says Pokkén sold 341,725 copies during its opening week, we know it was about 340,000; It could've been 320,000 or 360,000, or even 300,000 if they're way off, but we know that it hasn't sold a million, or ''just'' 100,000 copies during its first week.

Also, yes, Uncharted 4! I'm eager to see their first game build for PS4. I'm impressed with The Last of Us, and Uncharted 4 looks even better. And just seeing their progression on the PS3 with UC1, 2, 3 and TLOU makes me wonder how much better the game after UC4 is going to be.

@MrGawain: yeah that's something that seems to have gone under the radar with this gen. I must've turned my PS4 on dozens and dozens of times this year already and last and I'd say it's at least 1/3 of the time that something pops up that needs downloading/updating, never mind the need of 99.9% games for installing and then the inevitable day 1 patch. It's funny hearing people at Christmas who buy their kids an Xbox/PS only to not be able to play the blasted things for another 24 hours, who don't understand the state of the industry as it is now. Oh and of course the subscriptions for online, that's been a rude awakening for a lot of people who thought it was as simple as buying a console and Star Wars Battlefront and being ready to go straight away.

Unfortunately those games are long gone it seems.

Not sure how much I want the NX honestly. I don't think I'll be getting it within a year of launch like I did for the Wii U. The first two years with that thing sucked big time. And right now I'm loving all the games coming out for my Ps4. The only game I want is Metroid to tell you the truth

Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

@EdJericho: Uncharted 4 has reached the point where I wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed again but this time to post-E3.

Grumblevolcano

Octane

@Grumblevolcano: Nah, that's pretty much impossible. They finished the game a week or two ago and they already send a copy out for mass production. Don't see how anything that can go wrong can cause a two-month delay.

This PS4K or 'Neo' as it is codenamed has been revealed, although they cannot stress enough that these specifications can (and most likely will) be changed when the final model is out of the gate, similar to how Sony went from 4GB DRR5 of RAM to 8GB GDRR5 on the PlayStation 4.

Untitled

The best news about this is that AMD and Sony are pursuing the new Polaris technology which, going by their official numbers, is generally twice as fast and twice as good. This means that the PS4K will be more than just a 'halfway house'.

If Sony can release this at $399 like the PlayStation 4 did on day one, whilst reducing the current PS4 to $249, they will have a hit on their hands. Perhaps they can go one better and bundle the PS VR with the original PS4 for $599.

Plenty of choice coming our way later in the year! I best start saving now...

@Peek-a-boo I will buy it, but as a early adopter i do feel burned. It irks me that someone who buys the console in a later stage of the console cycle is rewarded while i was the one who pre ordered the PS4 when it got announced. However, if this helps games like the witcher ( which im currently playing) getting a performance boost im all in

To be fair, nobody foresaw this happening when the new consoles were (first) released.

I also don't really understand this whole 'burned out' thing folks talk about.

The way I see it, as someone with an iPhone 5s, I openly acknowledge the power and performance difference of the iPhone 6s, but at the same time, I do not feel any urge to buy a more expensive and slightly quicker and better performing iPhone.

Would I like to play a game in a higher resolution and with a better frame rate? Sure thing. Do I feel somewhat compelled to to buy the new PS4K? Yes, I do.

Do I need it for the same reason that I am happy with my iPhone 5s, knowing that a better model is out there for me to buy? No, not really.

If we are talking about being 'burnt out', I feel a little bit let down that the Wii U won't even be able to have its fourth Birthday all to itself, knowing that the NX may well be on the shop shelves by then.

At the end of the day, you are given a choice, similar to the iPhone example I have shown above.

In the end it looks to me like trying to keep parity between the PS4 and PS4k will hold the latter back big time. Those specs really don't blow the PS4 out of the water, and they couldn't afford to do that really. The fact that game devs will need to make their games playable on PS4 as a priority will be the main issue, if it goes beyond making a game look slightly more pretty, then that will be a can of worms well and truly opened that very few publishers will want to take. Rumours are already saying that a lot of 3rd parties aren't happy with this direction, due to the extra workload it requires.

And all this is from the company that basically took the PS Vita (as well as most of its other 'add-on' products to its main systems) behind a shed half a year after its launch and shot it dead, buried it and then hid away the shovel. I don't have confidence at all in Sony due to that.

But hey I'm broke so I'm glad it's very uninspiring!

@Sanquine:
That is the price we pay for being early adopters though. Granted this is a bit different than what we've seen with iterations in the past, but as each gen has gotten more 'complicated' (for lack of a better word), the iterations have also evolved over time. Last gen we were getting consoles that had some features added, some taken out, bigger harddrives and in the case of Xbox 360, the later models had wifi built in which the launch model didn't. This is just another step in how companies 'refresh' their consoles and I think MS might be doing something similar. We'll all have to get used to it or find a new hobby. Not sure which way I'm leaning yet. There's still plenty of games I like but there's a lot of bs also and creativity in games, just like movies and tv shows is at an all-time low.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is delayed, again (just 2 weeks though), and Horizon probably won't make this year either. Are we going to see even more delays? Any games you hope will make it this year? I think I'll survive if Gravity Rush 2 and The Last Guardian will still come this year, but Horizon was one of my most anticipated games, it's a bummer that it got pushed back.

Octane

Gamer83

@Octane:
I'd take Gravity Rush 2 above all others, I've expected since the start that Horizon would be a 2017 game so while a delay would be disappointing, it wouldn't be like it comes out of nowhere, at least not to be. The Mirrors Edge delay seemed like a surprise at first but is it possible they just want to get a little further away from Uncharted 4 and Doom?

Gamer83

Shinion

@Octane: Persona 5 is getting some sort of 'announcement' in a couple of weeks, and with good reason people are expecting a delay. That is people in Amercia who could reasonably expect the game this year, us Europeans are still waiting to hear how the game will release over here, never mind when.

Shinion

Ralizah

@TheLastLugia: Atlus launched a website to do a countdown. There's no way they're doing something elaborate like that to announce a delay. I expect May 5 is when we'll finally have a solid release window/release date for the game.

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

Yeah I think Persona 5 will be out in Japan this year but America and Europe will have to wait until 2017.

I also fully expect Horizon to be delayed. I think Gran Turismo is the only IP Sony has faith in during November-January.
