This is genuinely one of my biggest announcements of the year. Easily 3 of the best action RPGs ever made. It sounds from the description that they've really gone all-in on the remasters too. Updated textures, models etc for all of the games. All of the incredible DLC.
I'm certainly hyped. These games were by far my favourite thing from the 7th gen.
That will also be an insanely good value purchase. 3 fairly large games in themselves, and then an absolute mountain of story-DLC. Especially ME2 and ME3. They both got like 3 or 4 story DLC, which were all incredibly good.
Mass Effect 1 was such an incredible game but felt very dated in terms of its visuals and gameplay. So if they've seriously managed to get that up to the polish level of ME3, it will be incredible to replay it.
I also didn't actually play the final ME3 DLC. Citadel or whatever it was called. Which was apparently the best, and the biggest.
Heh, I'm about half-way through ME3 now .... I thought even 1 looked pretty good but I'm sure the remasters will look awesome! Will have to see just how much they want for them & if there's any discount for owning the originals on their own store
Insomniac will add a cross save functionality to a future update for Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4, allowing you to bring over your saves directly into the upcoming remaster on PS5. The update is expected to roll out this (American) Thanksgiving and will also add the 3 Remastered suits to the PS4 version (Amazing Suit, Arachnid Rider, Armored Advanced)

Started up Dragon Quest Heroes today. Surprised to find that the characters speak through the DS4's speaker, as not many 3rd party releases make use of the unique features (I think Kingdom Hearts III used it once too).
The plan for me is to get a PS5 next week with Demon's Souls and Spider-Man Miles Morales. I'm waiting for the physical release for DMC5 SE and I'm probably going to wait for a price drop on Sackboy, although I do actually want to check it out since LBP is one of my favorite PlayStation franchises and it doesn't look that bad, it just doesn't seem like a game I'm willing to shell out 90 bucks for
Other than that, the BC on PS5 with PS4 games will keep me well occupied after I beat Demon's Souls and Miles Morales. I'm thinking of starting a whole new playthrough of P5 Royal because I want to see how quick loading affects stuff like fast travelling around Tokyo or day elapsing
Melody of Memory coming out is also convincing me to go back into binging Kingdom Hearts again and testing those out on PS5.
@TheFrenchiestFry How exactly do you plan on buying an in-stock off the shelf PS5 next week? Or even next month? I can't imagine they're going to be available just like that....
That's an interesting though on P5R. I was hyped for P5 and was going to finally play it this winter after putting it off originally then waiting for and buying P5R.....but then I decided to get a PS5 and decided that P5R, basically a PS3 game, really does nothing to take advantage of the fact that I just bought $500 new hardware, so it'll go in the backlog for another year or 3. But were loading times actually iffy before? If so, maybe it's worth making that a PS5 "launch" game - that would re prioritize my whole year 1 of which console I use more between PS5 and XSeX.
@NEStalgia Oh not off the shelf. Best Buy's doing online ordering only until 2021 as is EB Games I believe, so it's not like I'm planning on going through stores or anything of that nature, just playing the waiting game. Besides I heard today in particular was pretty disastrous for anyone looking to get one who didn't preorder but they did promise more stock in time for stuff like Black Friday and definitely before Christmas, as well as more stock in general compared to the PS4 at launch. Considering I got my Switch around the summer 2017 season when they were virtually impossible to find I'm sure this'll go just fine.
In regards to P5R it's not terribly more intensive than P5 on PS3 or the original PS4 version, but it was updated in regards to presentation. The original game wasn't too bad in terms of loading times but I saw comparison videos that claimed when played on a PS5 the game takes like 4 seconds to load up a save file and I assume the same will be true for fast travelling or climbing up levels in Mementos and the like. The graphical touchups they were able to do were nice considering it's running on a revised Atlus in house engine that previously powered the Persona 3/5 Dancing games and Catherine Full Body. It definitely looks a little less washed out than the original PS3 release and I think it had 4K support if it was being played on PS4 Pro but I wouldn't know since I only ever had the launch console
@gcunit You only need to send your PSVR ID number, which is on the back of the breakout box. You don't need a PS5 (or PS4 for that matter, technically speaking).
The console keeps reserving EVEN MORE space in the “Other” category as I install more games. It’s up to 81.3 GB of “Other”. Which means I really only have 586 GB, and that will shrink even more as more games are installed. I’m literally down to 248 GB of free space despite only having 337 GB of games installed (which is only 5 games, mind you, and that’s with Astros Playroom uninstalled).
I ordered a 1 TB external SSD for PS4 games. Since I sold most of them the other day and only want to install the dozen or so exclusives left that aren’t on PC, I figure 1 TB should cover it. But holy moly do we need that NVMe expansion update. This is insane. When everything’s said and done, there will likely only be 500 GB of actual usable space on this thing thanks to it reserving more and more space out of the 667 GB.
That aside, I like the console. Fast and snappy like Switch.
I just hope that developers keep this in mind and keep their file sizes low. It's possible, but if companies like Activision don't give a jack and put out 100+ GB games, and if people keep buying them it won't change I guess.
@Octane
Well, Switch games aren’t 100 GB on average, and physical games don’t install to the system by default. And expanding is crazy cheap. People have lasted years on $20 micro SD cards.
Not only is the default storage going to pan out to be about 500 GB, with Spiderman at 100 GB, FFVIIR at 85 GB, etc etc. there’s no way to even expand the PS5 storage right now. And it’s going to run about $450 for 2TB, which will barely be enough to house just the PS5 exclusives this gen.
The saving grace, for now at least, is the fact PS4 games can be played from an external drive. I spent $175 on a WD Black External SSD that does 1,000 mbps, which isn’t as fast as internal but it’s still blazing fast. I didn’t want an external drive hanging out the back of this thing, but, seems there’s no other option. Will have to upgrade the PS5 internal storage with a 2TB NVMe as soon as they patch in the ability to use the expansion slot. Seems Ill be spending a crazy amount of money on storage again. Twice as much as I spent on the Switch, but half as much as I spent on my PC SSD storage.
I’m just dumbfounded nobody is talking about this. All those articles about “it will only have 667 GB usable space” and it turns out it’s more like 500 GB.

Is it possible to delete the bulk of the data for a game off the PS5, but keep the updates and stuff? Because that'd be my solution. It just doesn't take that long to install data to a console from a disc. It's the data that you have to download that ends up being a nuisance.
Storage is genuinely becoming an issue. The SSD is great, but it doesn't improve my internet speed, so if you can't keep the patches, it's going to be very annoying after a while. I mean, why isn't there an option to delete the oldest non-digital games from your system once it's full? I already find it annoying I have to manually delete stuff from my hard drive every time I buy a new game.
I'm just hoping to upgrade the PS4 storage to a big SSD some day, so I can install every game I have and not worry about it ever again.
Final Fantasy VII Remake (86 GB)
Monster Hunter World Iceborne (58 GB) Spiderman Remasrered (54 GB)
God of War (47 GB)
Ghosts of Tsushima (42 GB) Spiderman Miles Morales (39 GB)
Persona 5 Royal (39 GB)
Bloodborne (37 GB) Demon’s Souls (33 GB)
Shadow of the Colossus (14 GB)
Persona 3/4/5 Dancing (24 GB)
Bolded games are PS5 games. The rest are PS4. And I’m out of room. So I’ll have to wait for my SSD to arrive to move the PS4 games over (345 GB total of PS4 games installed) and install the remaining games I don’t have room for right now.
Uncharted Collection
Uncharted 4
Uncharted Lost Legacy
The Last of Us
Kingdom Hearts Complete Collection
And if I still have some room I may also install Infamous Second Son, God of War 3, Gravity Rush 1/2, Days Gone, and The Last Guardian. Of course, I still have some other PS4 exclusives I didn’t sell, but none I really care to waste space on installing. Trying to limit it to the best 1 TB of games I’ll actually potentially play.
We need that NVMe expansion patch. We NEED it.
Man... I wish so much PS5 games would include gyro. I really like this system. It’s quiet, my Switch/PC headset with USB-C dongle works perfectly with the USB-C port in front, the controller has a mic which rocks, rumble is improved (though the demo in Astro’s Playroom rolling things around in the controller wasn’t quite as impressive as the marbles in 1-2 Switch, it’s better in other respects such as a wider range of rumble feedback, either way it’s an improvement), it also has really good gyro with the added magnometer to keep it oriented without drift, load speeds are fantastic... I really do love this system! But without gyro, I’m not gonna play any multiplat games I could instead play on PC/Switch with gyro aiming. Which limits its usefulness. The $60/yr online also limits its usefulness (had to sub to get my MH World save data off the cloud), as I don’t want to have to pay that much any time I want to play MH online. But if all the games had gyro aiming, I would permantly subscribe to PS+ and start buying multiplats on PS5. Then again, even at 2 TB expanded storage, that wouldn’t be nearly enough. My 10 TB SSD on PC is down to 3 TB due to my Steam library. So, maybe moving back to a traditional console for more than just for non-shooter exclusives is just a pipe dream.
