I'm fine with it, but the game better be perfect on launch. The Witcher 3 was a disaster, and so was Thronebreaker. It's inexcusable if the game is still riddled with bugs and glitches at launch.

I am calling it now. It's going to get delayed again, till next year. For sure, Projekt Red wants those next gen versions up and ready with the rest.

Poor workers at Projekt Red. I bet that studio is like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. And the atmosphere must be tense.

The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

So apparently the game already went gold a while ago (which makes sense). So it's being printed as we speak. This delay is specifically for the day 1 patch. So either it's unplayable without the patch, or they just want to make a good first impression. Either way, this is the final delay. They're not going to shelve several millions of games for weeks.

@MsJubilee just tagging you.

I doubt they'd print the discs if it was unplayable. It's probably just like Skyrim was on day 1. Plenty of random bugs that show up maybe once every few hours, but nothing game breaking.

Or maybe it's more like Breath of the Wild, where there are just same major frame rate problems in some places. That was a bit of a nightmare at launch, especially the Wii U version.

I didn't play Witcher 3 at launch so dunno what that was like. By the time I played it, it was pretty much perfect.

@Dezzy TW3 was like Skyrim at launch. I think to this day there is an unplayable side quest due to a bug.

Thronebreaker was bad as well. The game would freeze every hour or so, and there was a point in the game where you could literally get stuck. It happened to me, and a lot of other people. It was a mess. You either had to restart the game yourself every other hour, or it would crash and do the restart for you.

@Octane

I played Skyrim religiously at launch. Probably played it for about 2 weeks nonstop. I didn't actually experience any of the bugs myself. I just saw loads of other people reporting them.

Breath of the Wild frankly bothered me more! The framerate issues on the Wii U made me wait to get a Switch before I finished it.

@Dezzy Well, I've never played Skyrim at launch, so maybe TW3 was even worse in that regard. Which I didn't play day one either mind you, so it probably already experienced quite a number of patches when I played it. TW3 definitely got a lot better over time. Thronebreaker was day one, and that was the worst experience I've ever had in terms of glitches. It was nigh unplayable. When it worked, it worked, but the amount of bugs and glitches was just ridiculous. And I've never seen my PS4 crash so many times, I can't even recall another game causing it to crash.

So you know, I actually don't mind waiting a couple of months so they can fix the game. Going by their record, it will be a better experience a few months down the line. And maybe they will release a next gen version with all the patches installed. That's what I'm hoping for. I can't see them not selling the game in stores.

@WaveWitch

Dynamic 4K isn't 1 particular standard. They can do it with any lower bound. It's just "if framerate is struggling due to GPU" then "slowly reduce resolution as far as X-times the original", where X is something like 0.6 or 0.8, depending on what they choose.

The official teaser site for Final Fantasy XVI has been opened. It offers new details on the story, how Eikons/Summons factor into the main conflict as well as brief bios for the game's three central characters.

Hey, does anyone know if they've patched Marvel's Avengers into a good enough state to play through yet? I have no interest in the endgame loot grinding or whatever, but I do want to at least play the story.

I imagine in addition to being pre-order bonuses the suits will probably be unlockable in game as well, at least the ITSV suit

Copied from my post on Push square about the dualsense:

Impressions:

-heavier than the dualshock 4,feels much more "premium" and solid. About the same weight as a switch pro controller

-it's actually not totally white as it looks in pictures. It's actually a really really light grayish hue.

-buttons are all very colicky and the triggers don't feel as mushy as the ds4 ones

-sticks are a tad bit longer from what I can see and they snap back to center much quicker than the ds4. They have a textured grip on the edge which will definitely help out in fast paced games I reckon.

-doesn't interact at all from what I can tell thus far with the ps4. I tried direct connection, thru remote play on my tablet/phone/laptop and nothing. Connects fine over Bluetooth pairing but doesn't do anything.

-I did play some Xcloud with it (how ironic lol) feels great to use. Tried it on Forza and Halo and works as expected.

-obviously have no way of trying the next gen features of it but from initial impressions I'm hopeful. They made some improvements over all for sure. Can't wait to be able to get an all black one though!

EDIT: some settings were wonky on my pc but I now have it working on remote play with a wired connection.

@redd214 You already got one? That's fast. I wonder why they're already sending them out.

@Octane the moved up the release day for accessories in the US to today for whatever reason. Already have the headset, controller obviously and dock should arrive this afternoon. Pretty much all retailers in my area have most of the accessories in stock for purchase. Was at Walmart with the wife early this morning and they were putting out controllers, I'd say they had 20 or 30 they were putting in the case for sale.

@redd214 I wish they did that with the consoles as well. Three more weeks to go...

Looks like Sony's definition of backwards compatible is that you can load the game, not that it's necessarily functional. More titles that aren't proper backwards compatible have been found.

@Grumblevolcano Games must strictly pass the "WWBD" test. What would Bethesda do.

@dezzy i played skyrim on 360 at launch. I got to that first city that you get the horse.... Whiterun? I clipped through the floor brush and got stuck in the ground, clipping through everything from below. Completely unplayable. I started loading prior saves and getting back to the same spot only for it to keep happening. All of my saves from the beginning apparently had the same problem. I put the game away and didn't touch it again until PSVitaR

Got the free adapter for PSVR. They're shipping it in a week or so, so it may even arrive before the PS5 itself.

Well, the Mass Effect Trilogy is coming to PS4 & 5 next spring .... Will that be good news for any of you?
