Honestly, I've stopped even paying attention to new releases for PS4, it's mostly there for me to play the systems extensive back catalog at this point. Although, I am actually tempted to get Control... if I'd known about it earlier I would have budgeted for it. Ah well, hopefully it'll be like, 20$ or less by November. Probably for the best I'm not getting it at launch.

@Dezzy @redd214 Depends on whether PSX 2019 exists, if it does I could see this State of Play focusing on Death Stranding with 3rd party and PSVR stuff surrounding it.

@Grumblevolcano God I hope not. We've seen hours of DS in the last month or so, don't really see how much more they can go into. At this point I'd assume you're either sold on the weirdness or not already.

Tsushima was the only game Sony's showcased in the last 1.5 years that even interested me. If they delay that, and the last 2 years of PS4 ended up being a total hype/first party desert, Sony officially takes over Nintendo's late era Wii handling title of "how to steal defeat from the jaws of victory: World Champion."

So, what do they have left this year for first party releases?

I think just Concrete Genie, Death Stranding, Dreams, Iron Man VR, and the MediEvil remake?

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

redd214

@RR529 yeah thats about it from what I can see. May give Ironman VR a rent just to check it out and get some easy trophies but none of those others really appeal to me. Though the release and reception of Death Stranding is going to interesting to watch, no matter the merits of the game its going to be divisive for sure!

TLOU2 releases Feb and is looking pretty good. Q1 2020 is gonna be insane with this, FF7 and Cyberpunk. Never thought I'd say TLOU is my least hyped game that quarter, but it probably is. Lol.

Nothing else in the presentation really interested me. So someone else can post other stuff if they see fit I guess!

TLoU2 is a 2 disc game, what's the maximum storage a PS4 disc has?

At the moment, I think they only use single or dual-layer Blu-Rays, @Grumblevolcano .... So, up to 25 or 50 GB per disc. Not sure if they could just do a firmware update to add 4 layer ones, though I'm sure some here will be able to correct me if I'm mistaken

@Grumblevolcano As of now, 50 GB I believe. 1TB blu-ray discs exist, but I don't think anyone's ever used one for a PS4 game.

EDIT: Re: the comment above posted at the same time, it depends on the disc drive. If the disc drive is capable of reading more layers then firmware can enable that in the system. If the hardware isn't capable, that's the end of it. Also, 3 layer discs exist, but same issue there.

@Grumblevolcano

The standard discs are 50GB.

In other words, there's a butt-load of textures and butt-load of audio.

Yeah, that's what I'm not sure about, @link3710 .... I suspect the actual hardware probably can't do 3 & 4 layer discs but does anyone know for sure here?

This is apparently the box art for TLOU2. Ok then. Well that's a choice that someone made:

Always comical to me how bent out of shape people get about box art or icons. Some of takes over on PS are ridiculous lol

@redd214

Part of the appeal of buying the retail copy is just having the physical item in your possession. Obviously people prefer possessions to look attractive.

Lol I spent like a whole day printing out the alternative cover for FFXV on PS4.

@Dezzy That's got to be placeholder art, right? Right? I mean the real awesome art is coming soon, right? I'm not a fan of the genre of TLoU in general, but....as an outsider, everything about 2 just feels....off...from the first trailer on. Everyone will love it because it's Naughty Dog, though.

Looks about as lame as the majority of boxarts, lol. At least it's not the "main character walking towards the camera holding a weapon" type, I guess?

@PikPi You mean like this? Untitled
I honestly think the fan one is better, even still.

Lol yeah it's more like 'Young girl furiously braces for diarrhea attack'.

All the potential for a sequel, and they squander it on an exploitation film plot. Lovely.
