It's surreal to think KH3 will be out this month. I haven't felt hype for it half because I'm incapable these days and the other half out of a desire to remain skeptical until it's in my hands. I can't wait to see how it'll be.

So here's a weird thing. I still have my KH3 LE PS4Pro on order....but...my beeper....stopped beeping.... I did some rewiring and rearranging of stuff, got rid of my stand/controller-charger platform because the chargers were broken (after months, and I never use Move anyway.) The X1X has been hanging out in the middle of nowhere since I got it because the PS4 and a ton of cables have been hogging the whole area next to the rack. I needed to rearrange it to get the two consoles (and HDDs (and PSVR box hooked up again...)) Thus i was able to flip the machine so the front faces me instead of the rear. Still standing vertical as before, just on a regular screw-in stand. And suddenly (knock wood) it hasn't beeped. Maybe writing this will jinx it, and I don't intend to cancel my ultra rare KH3 LE. But maybe I can keep the raritanium KH3 sealed in the box indefinitely!

@CanisWolfred 99GB, 2 hours of installs, but where else will you get your fill of equine shrinkage?

@BigMac1204 It depends what you want out of Steep. It's weird. I quite enjoyed playing with it, but the "campaign" is odd. I had the most fun with the Pyeong Chang 2018 expansion but it was very brief. IMO the game would be better if it were not a shared open world....as an event series it would have been better. But there's definite fun to be had if you can ignore that the open world really has no purpose.... in a racing game like The Crew you can drive back to the start points to play. In Steep...you can only go downhill....so you can either spend in-game money for airlift tickets....or just fast travel on the map to events.....which is what you'll really do. They didn't think the whole open world thing through in a game about using gravity to go downward....

@Zuljaras "I can't wait to buy it on PS4 or Xbox." Good luck with that, both versions( i have beaten both versions) are broken. Bethesda left those versions to burn and die while giving you paid DLC.

@Ralizah "There was a time when their games seem neat and revolutionary" I don't know about that. 90 percent of the games they published have been made by other people. The rest that are actually made in house are simply terrible.

The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

@MsJubilee Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion were pretty revolutionary in their scope and depth, and the amount of interactivity and content in the world. Those were pretty special games. Starting with Fallout 3 they kind of lost their momentum. IMO they really didn't need the Fallout license....they couldn't handle both TES and FO at the same time and both series have now suffered greatly for the attempt.

There are quite a few hardcore Elder Scrolls fans who feel that the series have actually been less ambitious since Daggerfall, as they've noteably streamlined multiple systems and have worlds that are smaller and have less expansive, albeit with the explicit intent of widening it's audience and improving the core gameplay experience. Which, I'd certainly say they were successful with. Heck, Skyrim is still the only entry I've enjoyed. I don't think them having to make multiple dev teams has impacted them much in terms of what they want to do with the Elder Scrolls brand. It's more the fact that streamlining the games has made them more successful, so they keep doing that.

You can say this for pretty much every long-running franchise. There are always those old loyalists who think it's no longer like it was in the good old days.

Just defeated Krystalinda and obtained the sixth orb in DQXI! I was planning on juggling this and Smash, but I haven't booted up the Switch in nearly a week now (I actually feel a bit guilty, lol). Just over 40 hours in now.

Dora-in-Gray has been by far the most difficult boss for me so far though. She tore through my main party very quickly after crippling my spellcasters with that charm move of hers early on, but I managed to trudge through it with my secondary because she seemed particularly determined to try & charm Sylvando but (either I was very lucky or) he seemed to be highly resistant to the move (maybe intentional?).

@CanisWolfred @Dezzy Daggerfall was.....different. It was great, but jumping from DOS games to modern games required some drastic changes overall, and they handled it pretty well. Like Dezzy said, you'll always find the old loyalists who think it's no longer as good. I get where they're coming from with Daggerfall....it's not a less good version of the same thing but a redesign of the games to fit the post-DOS era of gaming, and some people just want their Zork in text. Then gain, Zork really really died horribly after leaving text....

But with TES, Morrowind really tried to be revolutionary. Too revolutionary for its own good. The world was great but also very empty.....we enjoyed it for what we liked to see it to be more than what was really there because we understood the ambition and the limitations. Oblivion really nailed it. It streamlined in good ways, kept the ambition, but this time filled with content, and more importantly pacing and alive-ness.

Skyrim is, IMO, a slight step back (better than Morrowind, but it loses the excellent pacing and density of Oblivion, reverting more to Morrowind's empty openness in a lot of ways.) TES:Online actually feels surprisingly Oblivion-ish despite being an MMO. I have to say, I might like TES:O more than Skyrim, but not as much as Oblivion. By like it, I mean, as a single player game (that happens to be online.)

Fallout though has been going from pretty bad to now downright catastrophic ever since they bought it. It's not about having a second team, they share resources between the two, with Todd himself being the shared figurehead. It definitely divides them in ways they shouldn't have.

@Ryu_Niiyama So, you're the fighting guru. I got my Brook X1 to PS4 adapter to use my Atrox on my PS4. This opened up Street Fighter V (Woot! Really awesome game....) and the pretty version of Tekken 7 (curse you Bamco for supporting Pro and not the 1X properly.....I should be playing that on X1X, but instead it looks like a blurry mess and plays with better visuals on the PS4....ugh! DoA6 is already paid for for X1. I tried out Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2....I couldn't get into it for some reason. I tried KoFXIV and it's actually pretty cool. You haven't mentioned that one much...what's your take on it?

Rejoice! Bungie has aquired full publishing rights to Destiny from Activision!

I know a few people here were enjoying Destiny 2, and I'm under the impression Bungie had been working hard to correct their early mistakes, so for you guys, the good news is that now Bungie won't be forced to screw it up again (because seriously, last I heard, Activision-Blizzard was planning to double down on monetizing Destiny 2's fanbase. The game was only gonna get worse if they stayed in charge). While I personally don't enjoy Destiny's general gameplay loop, I understand the appeal, and there is a certain niche in my library it could fill if I ever felt like there was a decent starting point that wasn't gonna cost me a fortune. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the series going forward.

But really, any series or talented studio getting out from under Activision-Blizzard's thumb is worth celebrating! Especially in this case, it's always been clear that the one making the worst mistakes and holding the franchise back was the publisher, not the developer.

Was kinda hoping they'd go back to making something like Halo. Maybe a new IP with a single player campaign.
Oh well. At least they escaped Activision.

Dreams beta is great so far... Poll on Reddit shows that about 5% of people who signed up got in. So much for "public beta" in 2018. First it was exclusive to the newsletter; then it was delayed till 2019, and now the beta is more exclusive than the afterparty of the Oscars. "We want to get as many people in the beta as possible" they said, of course they didn't disclose the actual odds.

Oh well, they're sending out another wave of 10 invites on Monday, so maybe I'll get lucky.

RE2 shows a lot of promise. Not entirely sold based on just the demo though. I'll wait and see how it reviews.

Just played the Resident Evil 2 Remake demo on PC. It's ehh... well it's certainly pretty good. I don't really play much Resident Evil (although I do have 4 on PC) so it was a bit of a struggle, but I was liking what I'm playing. It sorta feels a bit sluggish though, and the keyboard + mouse controls aren't exactly the best.

Might try it on PS4 later. But REmake 2 isn't really a priority for me. It is well-put though.

Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill

I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.

So, this game looks and plays AWESOME. I was so impressed with the demo (on PC, but I can't imagine it's too much different on PS4 other than a bit less visual detail and maybe a lower framerate on the base model). The in-game map is really useful. The limited inventory space is a bit jarring, but this is a survival horror game, which means knowing which supplies to prioritize is essential. This plays a lot like RE4, but the more action-y combat is balanced out by some incredibly aggressive enemies, so it's still feels scary and intense and less like I'm shooting fish in a barrel. It seems like Capcom has finally found out how to harmonize the action-gameplay of later entries with the atmosphere, puzzles, and sense of vulnerability in earlier entries. The incredible lighting and sound design go a long way toward establishing the really horrifying atmosphere of the game.

If the entire game is this good, it'll be an easy GOTY contender for me.

Oh, and the gore effects are incredible, both in the cutscenes and in terms of how your weapons damage the enemies. At one point, I shot at an enemy, and his arm fell off. A close range shotgun blast also blew off the top half of a zombie's head. It's gruesome, and I love it for that.

@EvilLucario I mean, it's a TPS. I'd only ever play this with a controller. I synced up my DS4 with the PC and it controlled beautifully, but you should have similarly good results from Xbone or Switch Pro controllers.
