as we know todays gaming world is dominated by nintendo, sony and microsoft.
back during the 80s and 90s, it was between nintendo, sega and to a much lesser extent, SNK with their incredibly expensive, neo geo. i'm a nintendo fan girl first and foremost- love mario, zelda, kirby etc and metroid is my favourite franchise. but at the same time, SEGA back then were great. they had sonic, streets of rage, shinobi, alex kidd and so many great characters, games.
i had respect for SEGA; i wasn't one of those anti-sega fanatics with enormous animosity and hatred towards them. and i still have respect for SEGA. the whole nintendo vs SEGA, mario vs sonic rivalry was pretty ugly at times however times have moved on and since then, we have seen SEGA make games for nintendo systems, inc. the mario & sonic series. as for their franchises of today, they are a bit more hardcore in contrast to streets of rage, shinobi. games inc. bayonetta, anarchy reigns, vanquish, house of the dead.
do you miss SEGA as a hardware company and the nintendo vs sega rivalry that occurred throughout the 1990s? what do you make of SEGA making games for nintendo's 3DS, wii for example? do you think sega should be more supportive towards nintendo and its fans by releasing better games for the wii U, 3DS that are available on the PS3, X-Box 360?
I used to love SEGA but now they can't seem to make good games consistently unless Platinum Games is behind it. They can make a good game like Sonic Colors but then crap out two Marvel movie tie-ins that are abysmal. They also let their best franchises rot in obscurity now. I would rather have a new Panzer Dragoon above anything else they could make.
They made too many dumb mistakes as a hardware company after the Genesis (32X, marketing for the Saturn and Dreamcast, making the Saturn a pain to develop for, and totally blowing the Saturn launch) so I don't really miss their consoles. Many games from past SEGA consoles are now becoming available for the PS3/360 for download so that's a plus (though I wish more Saturn games were coming).
I think sega could have same back early this Gen if they wanted too. But that ship has since passed. Hopefully Generations is a shift that the company needed and they start making better games and bringing back old series.
Billy Hatcher, Nights, and a new shining game for 3DS And Vita Virtua Fighter and a new House of the Dead for Wii U and the other next gen systems.
WAT!
Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.
i think some of the games they released for the wii were great, but also a lot of them were terrible. i hope that with the wii U and 3DS, SEGA are more supportive of nintendo and releasing, porting some of their franchises over.
i wish they would stop with say the movie-tie in games such as thor, iron man 2, hulk because they weren't amazing. i think they should leave that up to other developers instead. that's not their thing. rather it's sonic, crazy taxi, jet grind radio to name.
kevohki - that was SEGA's downfall- they kept releasing a new console one after the other after the megadrive/genesis. the saturn would've been a success- had SEGA remained faithful to it and got developers to make games for it, and the same applies to the dreamcast. they're a great games developer, but as a hardware company, they don't seem to be able to keep with one thing and stick with it throughout. a pity really.
@shingu_70 i think many would welcome billy hatcher, nights, shining force, and as for virtua fighter, house of the dead, with the new controller, SEGA can utilise new methods of the gameplay that suit the controller. i do hope for a VF game for the wii U.
the aliens game for the DS got rave reviews, esp on nintendo life here, whereas sonic generations, crush 3D, shinobi and rhythm thief for the 3DS have potential to become excellent 3DS titles.
I still have my old genesis with a mess of games. with a copy of Sonic2 and Sonic Spinball

Yakuza says hello.

You don't know that. You're guessing.
I honestly have never heard of Yakuza before. Never seen a commercial or video ad for the series. No word of mouth. I'm guessing it's one of those sells poorly outside of Japan series because it gets overshadowed by other games. After watching a trailer on YouTube, it looks like Shenmue with a better combat system and fused with Grand Theft Auto. If it's good, SEGA should advertise it better instead of putting out twelve versions of a Mario vs Sonic at the No One Cares Games ad.
For some reason, I totally predicted that LordJumpMad would be in here saying that old slogan. I am satisfied.
You can always count on me to find away to bash on Nintendo~
