Topic: Resident Evil 3 remake or days gone?

I've heard both games are not exactly the most popular. RE 3 remake got slammed right at release for whatever reason. I heard things like it's too short or it felt rushed. However I'm still curious considering I'm a pretty big RE fan. All the negativity has me worried I'll be rather dissapointed. On the other hand days gone looks interesting but again it seems like not alot of people were thrilled with it. I do like me some open world games and a zombie themed one sounds cool honestly. Eventually i may get both but If i had to choose only one for now which should i get?

@Zeldafan79 The Resident Evil 3 criticism about how short it is comes from people who rush it and finish it without admiring the details in the game.

I have yet to play it but I have seen walkthroughs (longplays) around 10 hours long which is fine for RE3. Also the cut content from the original is no issue. At least for me. You can still go and play the original.

You just reminded me of Days Gone! I am waiting for a discount at my retailers or a second hand copy. I think the game looks AMAZING!

Both games are vastly different. One is open world the other is action oriented and linear. In the end "BOTH" is the best option.

PS: Do not listen to the critics. 90% of them never finish the games they review and just regurgitate what others and streamers said about it. "First" class journalists is better name than a game critic.

Howlongtobeat.com has it at 6 hours average playtime. That is pretty damn short for a full price game!

For the sake of comparison, RE4 is 16 hours long.

@Dezzy It is about the same like the original. But it definitely has more extras than the original so it is ok. You pay for the new style. The RE2 engine, the new acting (voice as well).

Also it will be discounted soon. At least that happened with RE2 here.

And RE2 was the best game of 2019. Well RE3 will not be this year but it still looks amazing.

It IS a really short game, although it is around the same length as the original RE3.

Both RE2 and RE3 (remakes) can be easily beaten in under two hours with the right set ups, although I'll admit that at least RE2 has two slightly different campaigns, where RE3 has a very linear single campaign, and in my experience it feels shorter than a single RE2 campaign.

Yeah I'd happily buy it when it's like $25 rather than $60. I just don't think it's worth full price. Xenoblade Chronicles is coming out later this month. It has up to 200 hours of playtime for the same price.

Okay i think I'm convinced on RE 3! I just got a little worried when nearly every review i watched on youtube was saying what a letdown it was compared to the RE 2 remake. Honestly i always figured it wouldn't ultimately be as well recieved as that first one. Even the original RE 3 probably wasn't as popular as RE 2 so i guess history repeats itself. Plus the length thing shouldn't be an issue. RE games have never been that long to begin with. Funny how back in the 90's you'd pay 50 dollars or more on a game you could beat in a day like super mario world. These days it's like people don't wanna pay more than 50 dollars unless some game is a 70+ hour epic.

I'll still put days gone on my to get list but I'll be grabbing RE 3 remake as soon as i can!

Yes compared to the previous one it is disappointing, but on its own it's a good, entertaining game. You can learn and get better at it, earn rewards, and optimize your playthrough to speed run it. It's that kind of game.

And yes, apparently the original RE3 was also seen as a disappointment compared to the original RE2.

As I mentioned, the length of the game is not that different from a single campaign of 2. And in the remake of 2, the 4 campaigns are nearly identical.

Well i got RE 3 remake and already I'm thinking i like it! Sure don't see why everyone was making it out to be some rushed turd. I hear there's cut content from the original and talk of people beating it in 4 hours. What are people just rushing through? I doubt my final playtime will be that damn short. I usually take my time in games and try to get my money's worth. Funny how people weren't so keen on the original RE 3 and now here we go again! Of course RE 2 was a tough act to follow. Anyway loving what I've played so far!
