Will MvC3 come to the Wii? Maybe, but somewhat unlikely. Capcom vs Tatsunoko seems to have done alright, but probably not well enough to guarantee Capcom will take the effort tweaking it and making it fit on the Wii.

They tried adapting that engine once and it was a complete disaster, see: Rising, Dead. It wasn't good, you can't spin it as good, it was trash on the Wii because the Wii can't handle the engine, and Capcom isn't adapting a new engine just to down convert these games.
I'm pretty sure Dead Rising was ported to Wii using the RE4 engine, but yeah it was pretty clear that a game specializing in having hordes and hordes of zombies on screen at a time was a poor choice for the console. But a 2D fighter, which only has a handful of models in a confined space on screen at any given time, shouldn't pose too much of an issue. It won't be able to do the same shader effects, no, but the core game should survive the hardware degradation just fine I'd think.
The MT Framework engine so far hasn't been used on Wii AFAIK, so nobody here can really say one way or the other. It's supposed to be up and running on Wii hardware, but that's all we've heard so far.

There's no particular reason MvC3 shouldn't do well on the Wii. Even if TvC didn't break any sales records (though it did better than they expected) that might just as well have been due to xenophobic westerners who didn't want to buy something with unfamiliar characters (and a name they probably couldn't pronounce), rather than the fact that the game was for the Wii.

Yes, but Capcom has to look at the bottom line. They can't risk the money on an assumption, especially depending on how much it would cost to port it. I'm not saying it wouldn't do well on the Wii but you can't say it's a sure thing, either.

True enough. And to be honest, even if they did release it for the Wii, I would probably just buy the PS3 version anyway.

Honestly, I could care less about Mv.C3. I have been playing fighters since they first came out and the gameplay of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom has been the greatest thing since white bread. if you care for Marvel characters, then yeah, I see why you might be jealous. But I am wondering how the gameplay of Mv.C3 is going to be. The original is not that great-bad buttom-mashing/uneven characters. How are they going to improve on this? I mean, I could really care less for shoddy MvC2 gameplay covered in HD graphics. Blech! To me, gameplay doesn't get any better than Tv.C. The only thing I want is another fighter with similiar gameplay that leans a little more toward (not too much) Street Fighter play and includes more Street Fighter characters. Keep the graphics (maybe a little less jaggies), keep it simple; add some more gameplay options - tag/non-tag, I hope we get another from Capcom before the next gen.
well, i cannot believe NL didn't cover this, but MvsC 3 IS official. http://www.moetron.com/2010/04/17/marvel-vs-capcom-3-unveiled... so far, it says that it will be only on PS3 and 360, but keep your fingers crossed for it to hit Wii too. There will be more information to come by E3
Whilst we're all excited here, until the game is confirmed by Capcom as heading to a Nintendo console, we won't cover it. We all have our fingers crossed, though
I love the series, but couldn't care less unless it comes to the Wii. (Please, please, please)
"They say video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock n' roll."
Panda, I stand corrected. DR was originally created with the other engine but did end up getting down sized to the RE 4 engine...
MNemeth...I'm being ignorant? Marvel characters will sell better on the Wii than the other systems? Well ladies and gentlemen, lets go look at the rough numbers for the multi platform Ultimate Alliance series... 360 and PS3 versions sold a combined 3 million...the Wii, which has a FAR larger install base? 200,000...I would go to the first one, but I fear the numbers are skewed since the first one was given away with the 360 in a holiday bundle BUT point being...Marvel characters, in fact, do not sell better on the Wii than the other systems. Game, Set, Match.
Finally, TvC was not the litmus test for MvC3. Again, releasing MvC2 as a download and seeing what the response was is the litmus test...don't be so blind that you can't see that. Wii gets TvC, the other two systems get MvC3, in the end, Nintendo got a game neither of the other two systems have and vice versa so be happy with what you have?
Me!? Well, I"m happy that capcom released MH3 for the Wii and I'm enjoying it a lot, but I'm also enjoying there games for the 360 as well! Thank you Capcom for making this well rounded gamer happy.
J Bitties, what do you mean by "be happy with what you have"? it sounds really retarded no offense. I might play MvC3 on the PS3, but I think it's very well suited for the Wii. Saying "wii has a larger install base" is also ridiculous, since it also has a lot of more games to choose from. game set match? Spiderman web of shadows sold 200,000 for the Wii but only 190,000 for the PS3. what do you say about that? and this is the kicker - most/all these copies of Ultimate Alliance sold on the 360.. so here's the solution: release it BOTH for the 360 and the Wii... the PS3 is useless then according to you, understood.
Anyway, fighters have huge potential for Nintendo crowds and it's just wrong market-wise, and a disservice to the fans who bought TvC and were promised more, not to make this fighter (especially with characters that kids love) for the Wii. Fighters can sell great. it's not just TvC. Brawl obviously, and for the NGC Melee is the BEST selling game of the console, and Soulcalibur II sold over a million copies on the NGC. This is that ridicilous - it's like Soulcalibuer would have skipped the NGC and lost a million of sales. So here Capcom is losing millions of sales by not releasing Street Fighter 4, Super, and MvC2... and MvC3... on the wii. it's that simple. They obviously don't have the time/personnel/foresight or they're more likely working on an alternate version for this game or on other fighters for the Wii - then Wii owners will be "happy with what they have".

Carnage is not going to be there. Phoenix Wright obviously not going to be there. And Mickey Mouse is not Marvel... might be on the Wii version Disney Vs Capcom though.

mnementh, you are a blind fanboy. UA sold 2 to 1 on the PS3 to the Wii...again, the Wii with the larger install base. And the argument that that means there's more games is probably the most ridiculous statement in this whole debate. So somewhere, beyond all of that thick skull matter, deep down in the caverns of your mind, it is your understanding that the Wii has next to no third party million seller triple A games BECAUSE there's more games on the system? So how do you explain the million sellers on the PS2!? Can't wait for that nugget of genious.
Plus, your argument about fighters selling is nulled by the fact that you named two first party fighters and part of the argument is ONLY first party sells on the Wii. As for Soul Caliber, it sold well, but had the best of the three special edition characters who happened to be...a Nintendo first party Triple A character. Plus, if you've some how crunched all the numbers, looked at all the gaming forecasts and done all the research, then you need to apply for Capcom because obviously you are WAY more qualified then the people they hired.
Here is what Capcom knows. TvC sold well on the Wii but they're using a system that is incomplete or incapable of down grading itself to the Wii and it will null any profits that the PS3 and 360 versions make.
They also know, and have seen the numbers that when any one company backs a game they truely believe in (Mass Effect, Bioshock, Bayonetta, etc.) that they will put the time and energy into it because they know, with almost certainty, that it will return 500,000 to 1 million in sales...they ALSO know when companies put the same time and energy into a game for the Wii that their mark of success is between 250,000 and 500,000 that's a 250,000 difference between the high and loss!
Wait...ok, all of a sudden your arguments make so much sense...I have to ask mnemeth...are you Michael Pachter?
In the end, I really don't care. I just don't think it's right to feed the minds of those who'll hang onto every last breath hoping it's coming. What you're doing is telling someone that if they believe 2 + 2 is 5 then they should believe it because some day, in some mystical land, it'll be true. I, for one, will get it for the 360 or PS3, though because I'd rather play it how the creators intended, and that's not a Wii version.
J Bitties, I don't know if you're a fanboy, but you're boring, oh so boring. You come every few days to respond to this thread with another boring post. I'll try to read your drivel, really, I'll give it a try... but this will be the last time. I won't read any more of your nonsense replies.
1) i didn't say any of what you're implying here. You say the Wii has a larger install base so it should sell more, yet the Wii has more titles, so obviously Wii owners have a larger selection of games to choose from. That's a fact. There are more facts. For example, the Wii is pirated like crazy, and the PS3 isn't. Facts. But facts don't interest you.
2) First party fighters are just as relevant. You have no evidence to suggest that Soul Calibur II sold because it had a Nintendo character.
3) The engine used runs on the Wii. another fact recently announced by Capcom. Also, it is completely irrelevant.
4) your claim that titles on the Wii only sell 250,000 and not 500,000 to 1 million sales is complete nonsense. There are many games that sold this much. Even the 2 year port of Reflex has passed the million. Even "failures" like MadWorld sold more than 500K. Companies know that when they make a good version, the game sells. Star Wars The Force Unleashed (the most successful and well made version of the game), Resident Evil 4 (again), Okami (again), even on rail shooter like Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles... games sold millions on the Wii. Again, facts. Don't concern you. Furthermore, you make the ridiculous assumption that games need to sell just as much on the Wii to be a success, and that it's always the same "time and energy". LOL.
5) Michael Pachter dislikes the Wii. Again, no sense.
6) If you don't care, it will save you to write another post, that this time I won't even bother to read..
7) No, what i'm saying is that it's very likely that either this fighter or other ones will come to the Wii based on the fact that Capcom said so, and that they're happy with the sales. They explicitly said that the (awesome) controller will not be used only for TvC but for other future fighters for the Wii. I'll also be playing this MvC3 on the PS3, but if it comes on the Wii, with hopefully extra characters (like Soul Calibur II) I'll play it there as well... as "intended" (ridiculous as well).

And Capcom still don't Care. When it cames down to it, Money Talks, Meaning that 360/PS3 will sell more MvC3 that Wii Can. I know its not Fair, but what can we do It Capcom Word over ours.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
mnemeth, games need to sell to make money and money needs to be made to justify games creations. That is the ONLY point that needs to be made. So yes, if companies see what they can do in regards to making a profit on the other two systems, you do need to sell just as much. In the end, it is money, money, money, and Capcom has hired enough people who are more educated than you or eye to crunch those numbers to figure out where the money is made and where it is lost.
FYI, speaking of facts, Madworld is at the EXACT high end of what I said a third party Wii game does. Same goes for Res Evil Umbrella Chronicles, The Conduit, No More Heroes, etc...and this doesn't even count until now, the horrid sales of Deadly Creatures, No More Heroes 2, and currently Red Steel 2. No game is considered a success on the other systems after only selling 140,000 in five weeks..
In the end, again, it's about money. If it makes enough on the other two systems to justify the development costs, I'm sure it'll come out but I wouldn't hold my breath to see that coming.
Fanboy? Far from it. I tend to believe people who call the Wii a childs toy just as useless to the gaming community as those that call the PS360 systems that onlly have FPS...love them all...but...
As for mnemeth, I'm done with you as well. There's only so much verbal vomit I can take before it becomes an exercise in beating my head against the wall, and you sir are the wall.
I see that you responded, but I'm not going to bother and read your... again. I mean, you don't know how many games even sell on the Wii (many 3rd party games sold over a million), you don't know how much it takes to make a Wii game compared to others, you don't know much about the subject, so no interest here. Bottom line it's Capcom who said that they're planning to make many more fighters for the Wii, if TvC is successful, which apparently it was. That's all there's to it, not your anserine mumblings.
Examples of some 3rd party games selling well over 1 million copies on the Wii:
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles Sonic Unleashed Sonic and the Secret Rings Red Steel The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return Call Of Duty 3 Call of Duty World at War Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex Boom Blox Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
"[The game] certainly beat the initial expectations. It didn't set any land speed records, but it was a success. And that's really saying something considering that we're talking about a game that was not only never coming out, but has a title that most people can't even pronoun"
"But, if people are going to invest in this game, like we want them to, they’re going to go out and buy arcade sticks. It would be a disservice to fans to just put out this one game that they buy sticks for and then they have nothing more to play. Since this one is for the Wii, maybe the sequel will also be on the Wii."
See what I did here? Facts. "Game Set Match hehe".

^haha knew you just couldn't help yourself. Now I know that you're 'THAT' guy. BTW, he said SEQUEL! READ! SEQUEL! To TvC, he didn't say MvC3...got that from your own post and that's FACT! See what I did there, donk?
Wow, that's your response? really? so you were pwned and that's your response? Yeah, could be a Vs. sequel.

Just got the latest Game Informer with info on this game! It shows actual screens and confirms four new characters: veterans Captain America and Felicia and newcomers DEADPOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Dante. Two confirmed stages are on top of J. Jonah Jameson's skyscraper and a Mega Man Legends one, complete with Servbots.
And now for attacks: Chris Redfield: guns, rocket launchers and an electric baton Hulk: Same as MvC2 Dante: pistols, his guitar-thingy, and Devil Trigger Cap. America: See Hulk Felicia: See Hulk Wolverine: See Hulk Morrigan: Same as TvC Deadpool: teleporting, guns, swords, and his own life bar as a super (he is known to break the 4th wall in his comics) Iron Man: See Hulk Ryu: See Hulk
One nice little effect in this game is that when some one is hit, a comic-like explosion of color appears. The graphics appear to be cel-shaded to further confirm that it's being styled after a Marvel comic book.
