Vita looks great but PSP at its time was more than great despite its problems. I bought it at first week of launch. Still PSP was expensive, but it had the wow factor. I mean it was the first time that handheld games looked as good as the ones in current NG consoles (GC, PS2). PSP wasn't a failure, it struggled in the start but it was a success in the end worldwide (73 million sales a failure? Ha). Portable gaming market today is entirely different. Now we have ipads, other tables, iphone, ipod touch, android, win7 phones. Ok, ps vita games look good but thats not enough. People dont have as much money in general as 5 years ago. NDS launch failed for a reason. My prediction is that it will have a better start than 3ds but both consoles will underperform compared DS and PSP
Yes, but you have to realize that most gamers, even casual won't settle with just touch screen. And since with 3DS and PS Vita offering a Touch Screen too, and plus iPhone's biggest title's like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, and Burn the Rope coming to 3DS's and PS Vita's online app stores, it's save to say that the the Vita and 3DS may beat the iPhone.
Not a bit, the majority of Sony fanatics will buy a Vita regardless of when it comes out and without a care in the world to what the price is of the 3DS currently is. I don't think the 3DS price drop will have any effect on Vita's sales - maybe a few unknowing Moms buying it for their kids instead of the 3DS - but the majority of gamers aren't on the fence thinking, 'Am I going to buy a Vita or a 3DS?', it's either 'I'm buying a Vita', or 'I'm buying a 3DS', or 'I'm buying both systems'.
I'd even go so far as to say that the majority of gamers who will buy a Vita at launch don't even bat an eye at Nintendo products, and if they do, they've already purchased a 3DS. Sony's target audience is male gamers in the 20's-30's with a large amount of expendable income. The $80 difference in price isn't going to change their minds a bit!

Missing the holiday season is, by far and away, the biggest downside to the decision Sony made to launch in the US and EU in 2012. That could have been a nice kick in the pants to get the ball rolling.
They're taking a very risky step by missing the hoilday season, and that's a company's biggest time to sell. So by the time the Vita comes out, the 3DS will already have a 1-Year Library. :X
So? Didn't the Xbox 360 have a one-year head start on the PS3 this generation, but does it have the upper hand right now? Delaying the launch for a couple months won't destroy the Vita before it launches, even if that delay pushes it out of the holiday season.

Zelda Ocarina 3D, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Starfox 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Resident Evil Revelations, Bit Trip Saga, Cave Story 3D, Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Pokemon Rumble Blast, Sonic Generations, Dr. Lautrec, and Tetris say the 3DS will see drastic improvement by the time Vita hits. Plus any great VC titles or 3DS downloads that come out plus a bunch of less notable 3DS releases that many are still excited for. The 3DS will have a very solid library going by the time Vita is out worldwide.
