That pretty much sums it up. Their video games are just a small section of these big companies they have so much other things that people buy/use that if their video game department flops it wont hurt them much. Its kinda like asking if Nickelodeon flopped Viacom will go out of business.

Let's say Sony was strictly a gaming company and suffered from the losses of PS3s in 2006-2007. Well, they could have potentially been the next Sega- dropping out of hardware. But, because MS and Sony aren't just gaming companies, 'losing' a console war wouldn't impact them much. Maybe Nintendo, since they are the only PURE gaming company who is still in the hardware business. And I hope it stays that way.
AAAAANDDD, I really don't think we should be worried about Sony or MS losing or anything. We like them for the games provided. Not because they are selling consoles upon consoles.. I mean, if they generously donated that money to me for my college tuition, then.. Yeah, I'd be kinda worried lol
