You can officially count me out on that group of people. Sony has TVs/electronics while Microsoft has Windows. They'll survive no matter how bad the gaming scene becomes. And that makes me even more worried about what will happen to Nintendo if they loose the console war.

This thread isn't the sole reason I asked that. There have been a couple other instances where he/she has been directly against me. Maybe its just a coincidence but I was just wondering if there was some type of problem I was unaware of.
just out of curiosity does anyone know if Nintendo could survive if they lost only one of the console wars (as in loose the home console war but be strong in the handheld, or vise versa)?
As for the the actual question posed by this thread: No. Console gaming is only part of what those companies do.

Nintendo could easily survive dropping out of hardware entirely and focusing on software publishing, like Sega.
