Talking about XV, what happened to the pocket edition or whatever it was called?

It kind of never happened.

Hm. I wonder how will that be compared to the big game.

It's apparently the exact same story with simplified gameplay.

I have a question for you final Fantasy aficionados. I bought FF7 and love it. The catch is... I bought it on the App Store for my iPad. Is it worth buying on Switch (if it ever comes to it) or just keep playing iOS. (I’m pretty far in and probably won’t want to restart for a loong time.

I doubt a port of original FFVII will ever be released on the switch so I guess you're ok just playing it on your iPad.

Even the remake seems unlikely.

@Voldemort807 The original will never come to the Switch, at least not in any official capacity. I'd honestly be very surprised if the remake made it to the Switch. If you're far enough in I'd say just finish it off on there and then play the remake if you're able to when it releases.

Yeah. But well to be fair they're usually fully featured rpg games.

I may get it on windows, to play on my tablet and laptop. Haven't played any main Final Fantasy post-9, so this is quite interesting.

But if it's a similar length as the main game, that's pretty big for a mobile game. If you include all the DLC and end-game stuff, there's probably about 60 hours. 60 hours of a fairly high production story-based game.
There probably aren't many mobile games that fit that description.

How much storage do tablets have? There's probably quite a lot of dialogue overall for the main game. That's gonna take up a lotta space.

Since it's episodic, you could always delete the previous episode before starting the next.

I can only hope it will be just a few gigabytes. But they seem to be more interested in keeping the characters talk every ten seconds with voice acting than in keeping the file size nice and cozy.

Still, the lower quality graphics should go a long way in making the game considerably smaller.

I can only guess but I'd think it's entirely possible that it'll be under 12GB.

A single episode will 100% be lower than that. So just do what I said and do 1 episode at a time. Assuming they're smart enough to let the savefiles store independently of the game.

They don't really need to cut it out entirely, the game clearly has subtitles/speech bubbles already, so they'd just need to limit voice acting to just important scenes and keep everything else as text.

However, the few gameplay videos I could find feature full voice acting for everything and anything.

It's clear from the gameplay previews that the open world has been reduced quite a bit. It's nowhere near as large as the original. Still open-ish areas though.
I can't imagine them having the entire world seamless though. For one thing, it's just not worth it with a top-down viewpoint. You can't see more than 10 metres away from you anyway. Completely ruins the enjoyment of an open world where you can see things in the distance so then go and explore them.

Rewatched the trailer of the Final Fantasy VII remake. I'm not gonna lie, it looks exactly like the remake I envisioned before I really got into Final Fantasy. Whether that's a good or bad thing, we'll see. I'll also posit that Trump reminds me of my Ideal president I envisioned during that same time period, so the track record's not looking good so far.

Watched through World of Final Fantasy and I must say that I hope that SE will do more stuff with this world- it looks great and I love the idea of Mirages

I can't believe I never finished World of FF, it was oozing with charm. The English dubs were a bit grating at times, though, but in a funny way. I need to make the time for it one day

Haha, I enjoyed the english dubs, admittedly (and actually liking Tama's 'the-'... feels charming somehow)

And yeah, WoFF is pure charming game even though a lot of the callback is missed out on me, but I love it still xD
