I played a bit of the second game, but my psp died shortly after, and I don't have enough space on my Vita to consider downloading it. (It was an umd).

Finally got round to doing the Pitioss dungeon in FFXV.

My, that was awesome stuff. They need to bring that sorta thing into the main story more often.

For anyone who didn't do it or hasn't played it, it's basically a Zelda dungeon in FFXV. Something you don't find in any other Final Fantasy really. Really good one too.

I think Noctis' are actually built for "well that's a long way to run, better throw in some variation to the animations on the way"

Oh man. Why the hell did I just replay it?

They really are continuing full throttle in adding stuff. Some of that is a bit vague though. They said they're adding more explorable Insomnia. Is that during the whole game or just at the end?

And they say the boat will now be controllable across the ocean. But are they adding new areas to actually explore with it? Because there's not really anything in the sea except Angelgard island that you might go and explore.

My big hope is that the controllable boat means they're also gonna be adding the second continent in a later update and so that's a way of linking everything up.

Not sure why they're releasing another edition of the game in March though given that it sounds likes they're continuing development all the way through 2018.

I'm not sure, but I hope that whoever has the Season Pass won't be forced to pay again for this extra stuff, since the word is also a bit vague on that.

Nonetheless I'll still buy it since I'm really curious on what this game is all about and why does people have really polarizing view all around

Dezzy

Siliconera says it's an additional $20 for current owners.

Not sure what on earth that's paying for. Both the Insomnia stuff and the explorable ocean will have to add quite a lot of content to make it worth $20.

Or maybe that $20 is for a new season pass that will also include the other stuff they're releasing later in the year.
I think at this point I'm gonna sell my copy and just wait until absolutely everything has been released and then buy whatever the final version ends up being. I prefer having it all on 1 disc anyway.

I'm glad they brought back Cor 10 years later though. He got so shortchanged in the main game. I hope they bring Aranea into it too.

Seems like better option to take! Since I need to take a dip in the original game first before deciding if the dlc will be worth it, and the steam will be kind of "complete", I'll just grab Steam's.

How long did it take you to beat it with decent amount of exploration?

Guys.
I just confused between FF X-2 and FF XII.
Why did FF XII Europe version rated PEGI 16 while FF X-2 Europe version rated 12 ?
If because of The Sexiness, i thought FF X-2 had Sexy Le Blanc with her boobs. For XII, is that because of Viera clan sexiness, especially Fran's butt ?

@darkfenrir

Have you not played it at all then? Wow, I wish I'd skipped the mess it was on launch and waited til now. It's improved so so much.

The Steam version might not be complete. They made it sound previously like they're continuing development until the end of 2018 and definitely did promise a DLC episode for Ardyn (the villain). That's not mentioned here so I think there's definitely more coming.

As for the DLC, I would say that the Prompto DLC and Ignis DLC really aren't optional. They've tried to pretend they're optional because they ran out of time on development but pretty much everyone agrees that those 2 DLC are crucial for the main story and they make the main game so much better. They add a lot of crucial story points and they really help with the pacing in the second half of the game too.

As for the length of the game. My regular playthrough on launch only took about 30 hours. My playthrough I just finished this month with all of the current DLC probably took about 45 hours.

FFXII is a more mature game overall. In terms of its story and themes. Probably something to do with that.

@Dezzy Yeah, since no PS4 (yet, depending on my finances), haven't touched it or seen it much other than going to see the Kingsglaive movie last year.

And yeah, while I might want to wait for some of the future DLC (because damn, villain's DLC sounds really good), I just kinda... got curious, I guess. I mean I can wait, it's just harder to wait when it comes to your platform of choice...

(And with my hyper slow speed of internet, downloading this will take 1 week maybe, with that 100GB free space being asked)

Guess I'll see how it goes, if they'll clarify about season pass and stuff though, thanks for the answer nonetheless! (I feel 50bucks are worth it for the 45 hours anyway)

@darkfenrir

Definitely watch the Brotherhood anime on youtube before you play it as well. Both that and Kingsglaive are essential to get the most out of the story.

I honestly would just wait until they're finally done with it.

The updates they've already added have improved the game massively. If these upcoming updates continue to improve it throughout 2018, the final game will be incredibly good.

The first one they've pretty much promised is Ardyn DLC. After that they kinda hinted that they might do Luna DLC (main love interest) but they haven't made that one clear yet. Both of those would definitely add to the story quite a bit. Luna especially was heavily under-developed as a character and needed a lot more screentime.

@Dezzy Got it At least the anime is easy to search around...

Huh, well waiting until next year will at least allow me to finish the game coming this year anyway (and hopefully better sales by then as well). Thank you for the help owo/ I'll take a look in the anime tonight then.

I regret getting the game at launch because now it finally seems like the game it was meant to be, but I got burned out enough on open worlds that I have no desire to try to play through it again

@MisterPi

Yep. It's very dodgy. It's a bit of a Catch-22 as well though. If it hadn't sold as well at launch, they wouldn't have made all this extra stuff.

Yeah, I think I'll wait this out before I play more of it, then. I was already overwhelmed by the sheer about of content in the base game, let alone the updates. If there's still more new content outside of the Ryal edition, I don't think I'm ready to go back to it just yet. Shame, since I already thought it was a fascinating game. I'd love to delve more into it. However, I also love playing finished products, and that's clearly not what FFXV has been for quite some time now...

I think the main story does feel finished after Ignis and Prompto DLC were added.

There's still plenty they could add to improve it further but I do think it feels like a complete experience at this point. Which it definitely didn't at launch.

Something that would improve it massively is making the second continent explorable. Or even just small parts of it. It would improve the pacing hugely and would also better balance the difficulty. If you do absolutely everything on the first continent before you leave, you're insanely overpowered for the second half. So as it stands if you want to play the game in its optimum way (doing everything but never being overpowered), you need to keep warping back to the first continent from rest points. Which I hate doing because it completely breaks to sense of narrative cohesion between the gameplay and story.

CanisWolfred

@Dezzy Well, that's certainly not the product sitting on my shelf, since I didn't buy the DLC, and it sounds like it'll save me a lot more money if I just sell that and get the complete edition later, like I should've done with Street Fighter V (which I was going to do, but then I found SFV still sitting on my shelf last week, long after I thought I already sold it, so I opted out of pre-ordering the Arcade Edition, only to find out that I'm still left with a massive grind that I need to spend money for. I don't want to spend hours playing as characters I don't like, just so I can get Sakura and Blanka back...it's like my favorite characters are being held ransom <_<)

If you didn't buy the season pass, you should definitely just sell your current copy and buy either this version or whatever the final version ends up being.

But either way you should definitely replay it with the various DLC. Ignis and Prompto ones are great. The free update to Chapter 13 makes it sooo much better than it was at launch.
Then the Gladio and Comrades DLC are an OK bit of fun but not at all essential to the story.
