I know enough to catch my gyarados and seaking? what do you need to know?
does it autocast after each battle? or do you cast yourself?
can you open a menu without breaking a chain?
nope it doesn't autocast, you cast yourself each time. as far as i'm concerned, the chain breaks when you reel too early/too late, no bite, OR if you move from your spot
its best to go near a spot with rocks and have a pokemon with suction cups ability in your 1st slot (fainted is okay) to ensure a bite every time
oh i'm sure you can open the menu!
oh and the difference between chain fishing is you'll encounter different pokemon and the chain won't break, so you won't be able to narrow down your shiny unfortunately

and I know it has to be back to back battles that you can run from
yeah you don't need to battle in chain fishing, just keep running away until you see a shiny
