Seriously though, You should probably try to get a NL team together. Doing your Urgent with random teams is the most frustrating fail you will ever experience.
Plus, be prepared for evryone that walks into your city to say, "Sleepbomb?"
@Epic Since you're a gunner a good tip would be, don't try breaking horns, and don't wyvern fire him until you are very good at fighting ala. Trust me, the battle is extra intense when you try those 2 things, and getting tackled/fireball spammed is not fun.
EDIT: Ok I take it back it is fun getting tackled/fireball spammed since it adds challenge and moments that makes you go "ZOMG!!" as you try desperately to heal yourself as you have 1 hp left, only to die from your cool drink wearing off. xD Still though, don't try it.

But the Head is always big boss weakness. Dont worry I will never use Wyvern Fire ON him.
haha! played offline a bit last night and repeled ceadus. Way easier than i thought it would be. Its all hype. By the end of next week i hope to have at least one online alatreon under my belt too, if anyone would like to help.

I may be too late, but I suggest you sink your teeth into offline mode a bit more to get the hang of the game then go online. I'd say when you're halfway into the 2 Star quests, then you can go online and have a blast since by that time, you may get the hang of the game.
As for Bowgun tips, I have absolutely none since I don't use it- at all. I may create a character at some point that utilizes the bowgun. Check the Monster Hunter Wiki for tips- as it has EVERYTHING on EVERY weapon, armor and so on.

Well most Christmas sales go on beyond Christmas (based on how so many people get money for Christmas ) So they do that and sometimes even lower the deals. So start saving and maybe there will be 4 people with a PSP or atleast it is possible. BTW, I found a price of about $100 at certain Gamestops. Didn't have much time to check but you can sell some games if they aren't good or have grown old. So you better hurry!

Sigh... This game got pretty boring and pointless after fighting jho for the 50th time. I want to make it's armor, but for what? I've already fought every monster, and just making the fight easier isn't really worth it... Wish they would've included another difficulty level, and maybe some more monsters for higher ranks...

To be honest I'm also a little fed up with how Capcom treated MH3. If anything it's just a testing ground for the new MH gameplay and monsters, then they put all of it into the portable version which somehow is the definitive MH experience. The endgame of MH3 is mindlessly repetitive and boring (like a bad MMORPG) unless you have a good group of friends to play with - and then really you're just delaying the inevitable realisation that the game has so much lost potential.
Not putting down our times together though. They were some of the most fun I've had in an online game ever.
Here's hoping they bring MH Frontier or a very improved MH3G to the west.
Also, watching people zooming from HR 0 to HR 51 in two or three weeks really got me for some reason. The game is pretty poorly-paced if that's the amount of time it takes to finish it. I'm sure it took me a lot longer than that to reach 51. Probably because at the time, me and JayArr were some of the higher ranking people on the servers so we couldn't get help from people who were higher than us! It was true pioneering days back then. Good times. But that was just temporary and the game is a breeze because of BARROTH URGENT HELP PLZZZZZ. I'd say we were lucky to play the game when it was still new and everyone except the ex-JP players were below HR 30 lol. Ranks actually meant something back then.
I don't want to turn all you newbies off from MH3 though. It's an amazing experience while it lasts (and it lasts a long time) and is totally worth it.

We get the idea already, you are bored, you think the game is too repetitive, I've been reading your complaints pretty much since I was HR 10. Monster Hunter Tri isn't going to chage no matter how much you rant. If you really want more monsters go buy a psp. Otherwise please shut up already.
Seriously? I didn't start complaining until I was well over HR 100. From memory, the first time I seriously complained about MH3 in this thread was page 164 and that was the rant I quoted up there. Page 139 (2 months ago) has the first post where I express my suspicions and lament how people started disappearing. And I think I was being pretty reasonable both times. Playing with Jay, THE MAN, Tech, you, Subtle and everyone else was rewarding in itself for aaaages. Right until people started playing less.
When you were HR 10, I think the only thing I complained about was leechers and urgent plz, but everyone complains about leechers and urgent plz.
I remember you always made a big deal about that 10 person city stuff too, maybe that's what I remember. Don't forget you also expressed plenty of dislikes in game not just on the forums. Either way I' m just really tired of people complaining. >.< Sorry for kinda losing my cool for a bit.
