Denial is one hell of a strong word. Especially given that the people you're accusing of being in "denial" are simply stating that it might not be a home console. I've said from the start that the main reason I lean towards the NX maybe not being a home console is because of how tired the 3DS is. It's nothing more than that. I'm open to the idea of the Wii U being replaced but in terms of the hardware? The 3DS needs it more.

You do realise what I said that in response to yes? I simply said that the fact the 3DS sold well wasn't proof that it wasn't being replaced. Media and punters in general are kinda obsessed with this idea that business moves quickly to replace things that aren't doing well. They're also obsessed with the home console side of things because that's where all of the exciting stuff happens. But that's not how business works.
Business is concerned with making money, they put energy into the things that will make them more money. The portable market is Nintendo's cash cow so it only makes sense that they're not going to let the portable line fade as the 3DS continues to age. Nintendo doesn't care that much about what makes headlines, they don't care about "winning" the console wars. They care only about what makes them money. So given that fact why is it so crazy to think that, just maybe, the NX might be a new portable? The one part of the gaming industry they basically own. The one part of the gaming industry that Japan actually cares about!
I then made a point of pointing to Sony. I argued that Sony was doing well with the PS4 but failed hard with the Vita. Because of that they're going one step further than I think Nintendo would and are pulling out of the portable game entirely. We won't see a Vita 2 but you can pretty much guarantee that the PS5 will exist. I don't think that's an outlandish claim. And for that same reason you can be sure that Nintendo will continue to push hard in the portable space. The fact that the Wii U has never done well, if anything, will more probably result in caution from Nintendo.
.... and it was the response to that where I threw this accusation out. @LetsGoRetro said I was crazy for suggesting that Sony would replace the PS4. The PS4 is doing so well, they're never going to replace it. @LetsGoRetro choose to ignore what I was putting out there in black and white found a way to disagree with me by putting up a strawman. So I'm sorry if you thought I was "acting holier/smarter than thou". I'm not going to backtrack just because someone doesn't like my take on how capitalism works
And don't accuse me of being "offended". I'm not the least bit offended by someone being wrong on the internet. TBH I'd forgotten this thread had existed at all right up to the point where it was revived once again because @LetsGoRetro wanted to gloat about yet another rumour
@Paulthevgnerd Not really what's going on here... @Octane@shaneoh and @skywake are getting absolutely attacked for their viewpoint on this matter by @LetsGoRetro and @rallydefault and those two nincompoops won't accept that other peoples' opinions differ from their own...
Edit: In a roundabout way you are right, but you're being far too kind with your wording...honestly I've contemplated reporting some of @LetsGoRetro and @rallydefault 's insulting posts, but they're cleverly wording them to where I doubt any action would be taken against them...

1. @LetsGoRetro claimed the 3DS can't be replaced because the 3DS sold better than the Wii U.
2. I responded by saying companies tend to invest more heavily in the things that sell well. Because profits.
3. @LetsGoRetro revived the thread, took issue with that and said it didn't make sense what I was saying
4. I expressed frustration. When even this is being disputed clearly I'm not going to get anywhere
5. You accused me of being arrogant for throwing my hands in the air

@skywake: Like I said, man. I'm sorry. It's just the way I feel about your posts many times. I can't judge you as a person because I don't know you, so I'm sorry about that. But I'm glad you can take it. I think those of us who keep coming back for more punishment can "take it," or else we wouldn't still be here ha.

-I never said that you were "wrong" with what you were saying. In fact, I pretty much agree with what you are saying. I just felt like the other guy keeps getting ganged up on, but I suppose he does "ask for it" to a certain degree.

If you would look at most of my posts, it's me agreeing with what people are saying or trying to mediate an idea or some kind of back-and-forth going on. @Neko_Ichigofan: Your comments continue to be off base and seem rather isolated from what is actually going on here. Until you have something to offer that is actually accurate, I really have nothing else to say to you. I don't even remember you being in this thread, if I'm being completely honest. You may want to go back and re-read the last five or so pages before you begin acting as if you know quite well what people have been saying or who is "attacking" who.
@skywake: The issue is that I think that other guy (can't be bothered to look up the name, sorry) does have some points, and I felt that you and a couple others were just sort of drowning him out and vilifying him so that some of his good points were being lost. People should be free to express their opinions without being ridiculed. Now, yes, he was a bit...erm..."forward"... in some of his expressing, and that's on him.
Perhaps not you in particular, but that guy with the angry-looking man in his profile picture tends to just be snarky and belittling (dare I say trolling...I've rarely seen him actually add something constructive to an argument), and I'll admit that his posts are what pushed me to say something in the midst of it all.
And then I have this random dude coming in and saying I'm totally on one side and calling you "poor Skywake) lol ... this got weird quickly. But that's all I can say. I'll admit that many times my actions aren't logical, but yea...that's the best I can do for an explanation.

You say I'm not posting constructively, but my posts have spurred you to comment. But what can I say? The tone of my posts reflect the quality of the topic.
I think the biggest thing that will determine all of this, obviously, will be the hardware. Although the control methods were pretty different for Wii and Gamecube, Twilight Princess still released on both systems. So we'll just have to wait and see what the NX ends up being. And hopefully we'll start to get details from Nintendo within the next month or so.
In contrast, the number of form factors might increase. Currently, we can only provide two form factors because if we had three or four different architectures, we would face serious shortages of software on every platform. To cite a specific case, Apple is able to release smart devices with various form factors one after another because there is one way of programming adopted by all platforms. Apple has a common platform called iOS. Another example is Android. Though there are various models, Android does not face software shortages because there is one common way of programming on the Android platform that works with various models. The point is, Nintendo platforms should be like those two examples.
Well, personally I believe the game is gonna get Twilight Princessed (that's a new term).
