I swore this had a thread already but I can't seem to find it 🤔

Anyway, I just found out that Ys X got a demo last week in Japan even though the game has been out since September. It looks like it allows you to play up to chapter 3 in the game is much better than the Ys IX demo lol. Hopefully, this means we can get the demo as well. https://www.gematsu.com/2023/11/ys-x-nordics-demo-now-availab...

I hope we get an official release date soon for the West because the trailers look great!

Been a fan of the series since Ys Book I & II on Turbo CD.

I'm in for the limited edition, whenever NISA open preorders for it.

Until Ys X arrives, I'll have Yuzo Koshiro's "Feena" on repeat.

I wonder when they will start porting the older Ys games to modern consoles. There's Ys Origin, and that's it.

@BrazillianCara Oath of Felghana is supposed to be coming to switch soon! (It's actually already on switch in Japan) Idk if it'll be before or after Ys X though.

I can't wait for this one! I've been gradually playing through the Ys series in the story order recommended on Digital Emelas. Oath In Felghana is next on PC...hopefully within the next month or so. Then I plan to watch a playthrough of Ys V on YT and then replay Lacrimosa of Dana. VIII is what roped me into the series.

If I recall, the issue here is the same as why not all of the Trails games are on the Switch; publishing rights belong to XSeed.

Currently playing: Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations (Switch)

@Tyranexx I really wonder why XSeed doesn't seem to do much with older Falcom titles. It looks like they only go to PC and that's about it.

@Vortexeo My guess is they don't want to bother with all the work involved in porting the games over to the Switch at this point. To be fair, I do think the Oath In Felghana remake is also Switch-bound, but it won't be immediate. As far as modern games to, Memories of Celceta would also be a good candidate.

Suppose I'll have to begin keeping an eye on the NIS Store for preorders to open for the limited edition.

Sweet! This is now the second game I want day one this year! Not quite done with my modern Ys series playthrough - 4 games left - but I'll certainly pre-order this one.

Is the Ys series any good? Asking because I’m interested.

@Greatluigi I say it's the second-best Falcom property, behind The Legend of Heroes. I'd qualify Ys as one of the best series of action/adventure games in the biz. But it doesn't get the same recognition that Zelda does. If you're even mildly interested I recommend you start with VIII Lacrimosa of Dana.

I like the rpg progression system more in IX Monstrum Nox, but the Switch port is not great.

@Greatluigi I think every RPG fan should try a Ys game at some point. I'd consider it to be one of the grandfathers of action RPGs. Fun fact: The series actually predates Final Fantasy. Ys VIII in particular remains one of my favorite JRPGs ever and it has my favorite video game soundtrack. I think the modern games in the series are pretty accessible so you can start with any of those.

@Vortexeo huh the more you know.
@Magician oof that’s a shame especially since I only have a switch when it comes to gaming.
Thanks for the recommendations guys.
