Topic: What Games On The Switch Particularly Use The Online?

Posts 1 to 18 of 18

I know animal crossing does. Just got Splatoon 2 & Street Fighter on the switch & like both but have to unfortunately get the Nintendo online subscription thing again for both switch's. Feel like $40 could be spent on other things rather than Nintendo's online service tbh. Can only play the games half 🍑 right now until the beginning of January thinking I'll get eShop cards then... 🤦‍♀️ Does anyone know of other games that specifically use Nintendo online subscription thing? Wasn't thinking I would really need it have no choice but to bite the bullet I guess... 🤦‍♀️

@Barbiegurl777 Smash Bros Ultimate is a good example in my eyes along with Pokemon Unite, Splatoon 3, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Tetris 99 (though that last one is a given since it comes with the subscription). Don't forget also that you get NES and SNES games with the base tier and Mega Drive and N64 games with the Expansion Pack (alongside free DLC for ACNH, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2!).

Uhh ok. MK8 & Splatoon 3 are on my hit list to get later. Can anyone recommend a good pokemon game on the switch? Debating whether or not to get a Pokemon Nintendo switch game & which one. Thinking Pokemon Pikachu is it really supposed to be similar to the Gameboy version though basically a updated version? That's what I heard but just curious. I had Pokemon yellow / Pikachu for game boy years ago & enjoyed it. 🤷‍♀️

@Barbiegurl777 I personally believe Legends Arceus to be the pinnacle of the series on Switch so if you could only pick one, that would be my choice. However, if you're looking for a multiplayer experience, my advice would be to grab Pokemon Scarlet or Violet: the performance is yikes and there are some bits that aren't great but the bits that are good are some of the best in the entire series. Plus, it's open world! Plus plus it's the most recent entry!

You can try Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee for traditional looking Pokemon games.
Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee have something new that not available from Pokemon Yellow such as Alolan variant + 2 Pokemon from Pokemon GO + Mega Evolution.
Despite it has similarity with Pokemon Yellow, but you will not deny the beautiful 3D graphics from Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee compared with Yellow version in monochrome colors.

Also, if you want to try something new, you can consider Nexomon for Pokemon clones on both Switch and PS4 version.
Nexomon has HD 2D graphic style like traditional Pokemon games and I think you can like that game as long you open minded with new things.
I have ordered Nexomon + Nexomon Extinction PS4 USA from local online shopping website, just wait for 4 days to be delivered.

If you have interest with Yokai Watch, you can consider Yokai Watch 4++ and Yokai Watch Academy Y for your Switch.

Uhh.. Not trying to really compare just repeating what someone told me a while back. I haven't really played a whole ton of Pokemon games tbh:

Pokemon Yellow - Pretty sure mine was the game boy color version because the graphics were all in color on my GBA at the time of speaking. Thought it had beautiful graphics for it time era... 🤷‍♀️
Pokemon X - 3DS
Pokemon Omega Ruby - 3DS
Pokemon Detective Pikachu - 3DS

Your right about Nexomon being a clone just watched a few videos of it on YouTube. Would rather have the real thing tbh~ 🤷‍♀️ Gonna pass on the clone. As for Yokai Watch I tried watching it a few years ago on tv when I still watched Disney channel back then I don't anymore. On one hand it's cute on the other hand it's a little to extreme for my taste as for getting into the occult which I want no part of. Technically I probably shouldn't play Pokemon either but it reminds me of a simpler time as a kid... 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️✌️ More so a nostalgic thing for me... 🤦‍♀️

The clones sometimes have better features than the original.
If you pay attention carefully, Nexomon used standard MP using for abilities, unlike Pokemon that using PP for every abilities.
Imagine like this.
Pokemon was like Final Fantasy 3 style in using abilities. (Abilities tied to PP number)
Nexomon was like Final Fantasy 4 style in using abilities. (Abilities used like standard JRPG games)
Maybe you still have hard time to accept something different, but trust me as I keep pay attention to Yokai Watch, from I have no interest at all now I have more interest in Yokai Watch than Pokemon.
I quickly accepted Nexomon gameplay after watching some gameplay video.
In this case, whether the games are clones or not, doesn't really matter for me.
If the clones offered something interesting to me, I mean why not give it a try ?

Maybe I'll give Nexomon a shot later. Really want to play Pokemon Pikachu switch though. I can't relate to Final Fantasy at all though never played it. My older step sister who passed away was into final fantasy, Zelda etc when she was still alive. Me & her have exact opposites in taste when it comes to gaming. Know of Final Fantasy in name only though & pretty sure from memory it's a RPG but could be wrong... 🤔 I agree with you I've played alot of 3rd party games since the 90's. I'll watch a few more game play videos on Nexomon before deciding on getting it. 🤔🤷‍♀️✌️

It honestly depends on how you want to play these games, it's also a tad subjective. I'd argue that Mario Kart and Smash can be fully enjoyed offline just playing against CPU characters or with friends locally. Smash is either my third or fourth most played game on Switch and I barely play it offline. Mario Kart I do play a lot online but if I'm being honest I get about the same amount of fun just going through GPs

Splatoon though, that game you have to have online for. Sure there is a single player campaign but the multiplayer mode is really the core of the game. The original Splatoon I didn't really touch the campaign at all and it was still one of my most played games on Wii U. Overwatch would be another that'd fit firmly in this category

Online focused games (1st party):

  • Smash
  • Splatoon 2 & 3
  • Mario Kart
  • Mario Party Superstars
  • Nintendo Switch Sports

Online focused games (3rd party):

  • Monster Hunter Rise/Sunbreak (Note you can completely play this game without online but multiplayer is heavily encouraged for this series)
  • Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (Same point as above)
  • Overwatch 2
  • Fall Guys
  • Among Us
  • Crash Team Racing

But all of these recommendations solely depend on how much you plan to play online, especially with friends.

Good... good
Now play Dragon Quest

Ironcore

Smash, tetris 99, pacman25

Uhhh ok. I don't think I'll be doing smash again. Played the 3ds version wasn't super impressed with it. I have Splatoon 2, Animal Crossing, & Street Fighter. Getting Splatoon 3, MK8, & Nintendo Switch Sports later. The other games listed I have no interest in but thanks for listing them anyways. ✌️👍

@Barbiegurl777 If you get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, we can race each other if you'd like. I like playing online fairly often, and you'll get to play on the DLC courses when you're matched up with me, since I got the DLC from the eShop. Last I knew, we're on each others' Switch friend lists.

As soon as I get it. I'll let you know. I have several games on the hit list I'm debating on getting 1st lol. It also depends on if walmart has that game. I stopped going to gamestop all together.

Going to get at some point:

Lovers Pretend - switch
Doraemon Nobita's Space War - Switch
MK8 - Switch
Mario Bros Deluxe - Switch
Nintendo Sports - Switch
Pokemon Pikachu - Switch

@Barbiegurl777 Thank you! I got Splatoon 3 on Christmas yesterday, so if you get it, we can play each other in that game, too. Those last four games you mentioned should be easy to find, since they're made by Nintendo. MK8D is literally the best-selling game on the Switch, so I think you're bound to come across it no matter what store you come to.

Was going to do it this month but want to knock a few games out of the way first~ 🤣👍 February defently doing both though~ Then March maybe Pokemon Pikachu~ 🤣 I ironically plan things several months in advance~ 🤣
