@Octane: Yeah i still think NX is two devices that share a library and OS.I think otherwise is madness.

@skywake: I did! It went "...something something X86...something something ARM..." Hee hee. I will be honest and say I have no idea what stuff like that means. I was coming from it from a sales perspective as opposed to a tech perspective! I did reread your post and...I guess I hadn't had my cup of coffee yet

The only way I can see a hybrid working is that you can play the portable console games on the home console. But that might hurt the portable console sales.

I think it would hurt the Home Console sales more.

That's not really a hybrid then, isn't it? That's just a handheld that plays games on a TV.

Although, at this point I'm not even sure what a ''hybrid console'' actually is anymore.

@Octane: Well they did something some similar with the DS by adding a micro GBA to the bottom of it.

@Frostyboy: Please elaborate. They didn't actually sqeeuze an entire GBA in the DS. DS had similar hardware, hence why it was able to run games for both the GBA and DS. I don't see how that compares to a handheld / home console hybrid system.

Omg every forum thinks it's a hybrid. Can't wait for this rumor to be put to rest. Nothing about such a system is even talked about but everyone just likes to say the word hybrid. Get yourself a Prius and calm down.
No it's 1/3 hybrid. No 2/3 hybrid. NO ITS 3/3 HYBRID! I saw it in that rumor picture. It's the truth.

@Octane: I meant having 2 different cart slots But your right having simalar hard is why that worked. It's the only way I see a hybrid working not that I believe it will. I don't see them scaling home console game down to the handheld.

I hope the NX has Miiverse. That is one of my favorite things about this generation, even if I rarely use it lol

The issue is the hardware. The reason the software won't scale down is because a home console spec won't "fit" in a portable.

@skywake: that's what I'm getting at. But it be possible to play handheld games on home console.

Is it really wise to be ultra secretive like they are now? I mean they did more or less the same thing with Wii U and we all know how that went. Can someone provide me a solid example where this strategy has been proven to work? In the game hardware of course. Phones don't count.

@WebHead: I don't know, but people kept saying that they should follow a similar strategy to Sony and MS, reveal and release in the same year; so there you go.

@WebHead: If you have an idea that would corner the video game market, do you tell everyone about it a year before you are going to release it?

To be fair, most technology companies does this nowadays. Why would consoles be a special snowflake?

@WebHead: I wish I knew. Hang on, I will ask my gut...nope...my gut says "I'm hungry." No help at all. Maybe instead of some sort of physical gimmick, Mr Iwata envisioned a device that would innovate in the way we connect between users and allows a greater scope for creativity that will encourage development from third parties and even maybe us the fans!

I am new so please bear with me and tell me please? What is the new NX? I guess I could go Google it but I was already here and thought I would ask a real person.
