@Buizel Well we cant expect much in terms of low price. Im still laughing and confused over people who want a portable ps4 with 1080p screen and 8 hours of battery. For less than £200.
199 is great but i could hit 300.

If the Switch is coming in around £200 then there is no way it's going to be a portable PS4 or XB1. I think what we will get is a solid gaming device that will appeal to the masses.
@BLP_Software We don't need to go into hyperbole territory but I get your point and am in agreement. For what rough idea we have of this system, and supposing that rough idea is more or less reality come Friday, I can't understand why £50/$50 (the latter in particular) is the barometer for the Switch being impulse buy success territory if it's £200/$200 and too expensive if it's £250/$250. There's the physiological barrier of seeing £199/$199 on a price tag I'll agree with that much but in the long term considering the cost of the hardware I just don't see it as reasonable for it to be $200. Gamers are notoriously out of touch with the mass market as the success/failures not foreseen by us(?) in the last several years has proven so I feel preemptive guessing will go nowhere.
@Shinion I think people are still having a hard time getting this isnt a traditional home console and not in the waggling gimmick sense. Its a new form factor which adds new functionality outside of gaming as its one core premise and hence its name.
But, alas; a home console is a PS4 style brick and not a lot more.

@BLP_Software Yes again that is something that is brought up but seems to be totally one sided whenever it is. The 3DS apparently 'proved' (and the Vita to a much smaller extent) that $250 is too expensive for a handheld, and $250 is also apparently too expensive for the Switch as a console because both the PS4 & Xbox One can be had for similar prices or at worst $50 more.
Whilst both of those are factors that need to be addressed it is obviously ignoring that the Switch is both a handheld and a home console and uniquely so- and crucially that's how it will be marketed to the less well-read- and whenever that angle is brought up that's when the Vita tends to be used as a counterpoint, because you know the Vita and the Switch are basically the same thing and with have basically the same support and ultimately success and whatnot. Not.
But yes as for Switch being the first of its kind we really don't know what price people are willing to pay for it, one would hope Nintendo did their market research and just as a guesstimate I don't think that $250 is unreasonable if Nintendo's market research pointed them to that price. And again how Nintendo markets it will be crucial, because of course cynics love to point out how it is a weak console and an unwieldy/large handheld, so Nintendo have to make sure that isn't the leading school of thought about the system.
Then there's of course the launch lineup, the support from 3rd parties and the online/account systems but then we're just going in circles on those topics for the millionth time so as we're only a few days away from further clarity I don't think speculation needs to go that deep over the next few days.
@Shinion For this kind of tech I wholeheartedly agree $250 is perfectly fine. No, it wont be a PS4. Because that isnt a reasonable thing to bring to market. But $250 for this thing? Yeah id buy it.
As for everything else...we have to wait and see. And you cant compare it to the Vita by saying console games on the go arent wanted (thats the argument i hear a lot) as that system had so many hurdles.

All things considered, I think $250 is excellent value for money:
It's a handheld that's more powerful than all consoles of last gen.
(I assume) it includes a dock, so you're also getting a reasonably powerful home experience.
The joycons supplied mean that the system has built-in local multiplayer. No need to buy separate controllers straight away (unless you're serious about your Smash/Mario Kart).
It's giving you access to Nintendo's full gaming output, rather than approximately half of their games (as previously), for the next few years.
Now, I do wonder how much the pro controller will be, and if it's packaged with the console. For many that will be an additional, day-one cost, and may shift the perceived value-for-money if you can only buy it at, say, a full price of $50. Storage is an issue, but as long as the initial storage space is sufficient, and they go with micro SD (which I think has been all-but confirmed, no?) rather than some proprietary nonsense like the Vita, this shouldn't be too bad.
I think 250$ is a decent price for the Switch if its specs are going to be more or less like the PS4 and the Xbox One.
It won't be in the same ballpark as the competition. Think about it, it is a machine that is half the size of the ps4 Slim, is portable and roughly the same price. Unless Nintendo is giving one hell of a rebate, it won't be anywhere near ps4 in power.
Hi, I'm not sure if it was discussed yet. But I thought I hear what people on this site compared to Gamefaqs have to say about trying to pre-order a Switch the day it's made available (most likely Friday at midnight since the direct is said to be an hour long, just my guess) I really hope it won't sell out fast but then again I am just making myself paranoid for no reason.
If the $250 rumor is true, that will be amazing! Seems a VERY reasonable price for a piece of tech like this.
But I'm the type of person who will get the upgraded package if Nintendo makes one available. But for the "normal" option? I think that price is as good as we could logically expect.
I'm not too worried about the price. 250 is fine. It mostly depends on what the competition does this year and how Nintendo handles the marketing and the games. If it's something that people want, they're willing to pay for it. If Nintendo gets everything right in terms of support, marketing and games, it could sell better at 299 than it would at 199 when there's virtually no marketing or launch games.

@Sonicfan11589 There's no definitive way of knowing at this point, but pessimism would be the best strategy if you're dead set on preordering and are worried about its availability, because Nintendo do have a history- debatable how malicious and manipulative it is- of not meeting supply when they have an in-demand product to sell. And as was just discussed a few pages back in all likelihood demand could reasonably exceed the 2 million shipment Nintendo will do before the end of March. Considering that's only 2 months away and we're still not able to officially preorder anywhere, chances are preorders will open at the end of this week and as I say your best bet is to fear that supply won't match the demand so you're gonna want Amazon/Best Buy/Gamestop on a separate tab at the end of the presentation, especially if the presentation goes well and the price is as rumoured.
Tbh, I'm not all gungho about a $250 price point if what Kimishima said holds true and it's not going to sell at a loss. From what we know so far, the Switch is already an impressive piece of technology but for what people hope it'll do, that seems way too low of a price. If Nintendo managed to create a portable just outside of the XBone ballpark in power with XXXGB of storage for just $50 more than what a vanilla Shield costs than that'll be a greater technically feat than any of the current gen consoles.

I'd love for Nintendo to reveal an upgrade program for Smash and Mario Kart if they are in fact 'Ultimate' editions of the Wii U versions. I'm contemplating buying a 256GB SSD to put my entire Wii U library on, for safe keeping but will wait to see what happens Friday morning
