Does Nintendo still sell Switch Docks only? I have been to several stores but haven't seen just the dock. Also I have the OLED model do I have to buy an OLED dock? Is there a difference?

I wonder when we'll get our next NSO drop. I know we just had the big Rare/Mother 3 bombshell at the recent Partner Showcase but it's been a fair bit since any service other than GBA has gotten some love outside of those drops. Game Boy in particular is a very interesting case as it both hasn't had ANYTHING since October of last year and still has a game from it's initial announcement that still hasn't been added yet....in Japan anyway (being The Frog For Whom The Bell Tolls) so there has to be SOMETHING for that side of NSO soon enough, right???
If we are to get some more GB titles, I'm kind of hoping for either Wario Land 1/2 (why they put the 3rd in the launch lineup when we haven't had any of the other games yet is beyond me), DK94 (not gonna happen due to the Mario VS Donkey Kong remake but a man can dream XD) and/or Mole Mania (surprised that one hasn't come over sooner given Miyamoto's involvement with it).

Unfortunately I'm not surprised. Handheld gaming is rarely given the same love as console gaming, sometimes to a bizarre degree. Like Game Boy sold better than every console between the NES and Wii, but those console games are still treated by most as a bigger deal.
I was gonna say Wario Land is forgotten while (insert SNES platformer) is beloved, but I'd mostly be describing some of the most deservedly beloved games of all time which would in fact make Wario Land, a mostly great series, look lesser by comparison. Bad comparison.
But I dunno how anyone is still enthused by the 80 billionth reminder of the same handful of first party NES games, only half of which are worth going back to. Gameboy and especially GBA at least feel a lot less milked dry than that.
@Fizza I think March will clear up the remaining February 2023 Direct NSO announcements. 1 week having F-Zero Maximum Velocity and a different week having a NES/SNES/GB wave featuring the Japan exclusive. Maybe also have Mario Land 1 and SMB Deluxe as part of the NES/SNES/GB wave as unlike the past 2 years, there isn't currently something Mario for NSO close to Mario Day (2022 had MK8 Deluxe DLC wave 1 on March 18th and 2023 had MK8 Deluxe DLC wave 4 on March 9th).
@Grumblevolcano About F-Zero: Maximum Velocity... I just remembered something about the game. While you're racing, the course map on the bottom left corner of the screen is always flickering... I wonder if Nintendo will change that for the NSO version? I'm bringing this up because flickering objects might not be too good for the Switch's handheld screen. I've had another game cause temporary burn-in on my V1 Switch's screen a couple years ago because of that.

Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️

There are very slight differences between the two docks:
Aesthetics, the new dock has more rounded corners and is white
Better ventilation on the OLED dock
Gigabit Ethernet built in
Internally the DP -> HDMI adapter was upgraded from HDMI 1.4 to, IIRC, HDMI 2.0
......but functionally they're entirely cross-compatible. You can put an OLED in a regular dock and a regular Switch in an OLED dock. The Gigabit Ethernet is nice but you could achieve the same on the original Switch with a USB dongle. And while the HDMI spec improvement in theory allows for higher resolution modes and newer features and it did indeed require a firmware update from Nintendo to support? It doesn't allow any additional resolution modes on the Switch, OLED or not

Continuing on with my adventures in seeing how good Twilight Princess/Wind Waker could look in a remake. NVidia just released a beta version of their new App which includes "RTX HDR", basically AI accelerated "Auto-HDR". So I figured I'd spin up CEMU again and see how these titles could look if there was a post-HD port that was also enhanced for Switch 2 with HDR
Wind Waker HD is, again, fine as it is. Toggling the HDR basically does nothing, certainly doesn't make it better. I'm sure if there was a proper HDR version of the game you might get something out of it but as it stands you don't get anything much. Maybe if I went into other sections of the game there might be more. The opening of the game is just all super bright and vibrant so there's not really any space HDR to shine. But from what I played? It's not super impressive. To be clear, it's still great I really want to see land on Switch but..... it could be on Switch literally as it was on Wii U and be perfectly fine
Twilight Princess on the other hand? There's definitely space there for a proper remaster. Not because it's a tad clunky and a bit dated visually, even though it most definitely is, but because when you toggle RTX HDR? Huge difference. Now is the AI powered HDR here perfect? No. Certainly not. There are some elements it latches onto and decides to boost the brightness of that it probably shouldn't have. But you get enough of a glimpse into what it could be like if it was done properly in HDR that I just really want to see that happen now
Also, again, Twilight Princess looks VERY dated. Even the HD version. The textures are super low res, the models are super low res. You move between areas and there are clear loading zones which feel super dated by today's standard. There's more here that needs to be done than rendering at a higher resolution and toggling some AI filter..... but having seen a glimpse of what HDR could do for this game? Sign me up!
@skywake Well that's good to know that they are cross compatible. That's the one thing I was worried about. Yeah I like the all white look of the OLED dock and the placement of cords over the original one, but at this point I just want/need a dock for the front room tv.

Yo this Expeditions, "A Mudrunner Game" is insanely therapeutic. No lie. I was not expecting to get so engrossed in driving through mud at 2 mph deflating my tires for traction, getting stuck, spending 3 min rocking back and forth trying to get out...
It sounds horrible I'm sure. But when you're playing it's just... zen like. And it's such a gorgeous game! For real! The graphics in this game are impressive for Switch. And that helps because immersion in the world is part of the therapy
Can hardly believe I'm saying this but... I really dig this game. I wasn't as into the other ones. But this one here is different. It's something else. It's more than just simulation obstacle of road and environment. This one is like an open world adventure, with exploration and science partners on the excursion with you.
Is there a demo for this? If so I highly recommend you guys try it out. It's wild but... this game seriously rocks
@JaxonH Have you played a previous mudrunner game? I got bored with Mudrunner American Wilds rather quickly. It was a very well made game, but wasn't for me. Although, maybe I just want racing, and not calculated offroad crawling (for a lack of better description).
Yuzu have settled out of court for $2.4M. I suppose the patreon (and I read someone mention they actually had a TotK fix behind the paywall!) didn't help. Sounds like they were dead to rights.
