@Kimyonaakuma "usually turn it on with a pro controller" = leaving switch in sleep mode. I bet your switch froze or glitched and it prevented the switch from going back to sleep properly. I've seen a pattern in here; People that leave their switch in sleep mode for days and weeks.... long periods of never shutting down seems to make inexplicable glitches more likely to happen. This can also spawn controller connectivity issues. But the problem is resolved if you reboot the console.
Persona 5 Tactica finally received a gameplay trailer instead of those character introduction trailers.
I'm really loving what I see here. This looks way better than Persona Q/Q2 or any of the other spinoffs they've done. It's a genre I actually really love, and it seems they've nailed a unique approach with the gameplay that makes it stand apart from other strategy games. Though I will admit, the 3 person teams reminds me of Mario Rabbids, which certainly isn't a bad thing.
I'm so used to key franchises releasing spinoffs that are in a genre I'm not particularly fond of, and typically being mediocre on top of that. But this is not only a spinoff in one of my favorite genres, it actually looks great!

Maybe, but I've left my Switch in sleep mode since the day it launched in 2017 (though I upgraded to v2 and then again to the OLED). I've only experienced a glitch 3 times in the last 6.5 years. And all 3 times it was the same thing- the Switch became unresponsive in the quick menu and I was forced to perform a hard shut down holding the power button. Last time that happened was several years ago.

Yeah, it may not be super common. Usually, the people I've seen that made threads had a few things in common: It was their kid's switch. They never shut down their switch. They didn't know how to how to do the hard reboot (hold power button down for 15-20 seconds -whatever it is). They regularly keep games open. I also suspect that you, as a computer literate adult, probably use your switch with better understanding than a kid. I think some freezing issues may be more likely with some games, or third party games or online third party games.
In july, my switch froze, wouldn't wake from sleep mode. I can't recall if that's ever happened to me before since switch launch. My 10 yr old niece was the last one using my switch. She put the switch in sleep mode when called for dinner, in the middle of playing Fall Guys (online game). Maybe that was a total fluke? But this thing never happens when I'm the only one using it. Or maybe kids are more likely to put the switch in sleep mode at times an adult wouldn't - like putting the switch to sleep during a load screen.
There were at least three threads created that I've seen, where a parent mentions controllers not working correctly, connectivity issues, like right joycon won't connect all of the sudden. They coudlnt' figure out what was wrong. And I've seen some other threads with other inexplicable issues. Then they did a hard reboot, or just rebooted the console (as suggested by someone or myself here), and the problem was resolved. Most of these cases were a kid's switch that rarely gets shut down, or regularly use sleep mode with a game running (possibly their favorite game that is kept open longer than most adults would keep a game open).
Based on what Im reading on this page, people dont have common sense. Of course you dont leave your device on sleep mode for a long time. And if you play exclusively in docked mode, CHARGE THE CONSOLE AND J CONS EVERY SIX MONTHS. Peeps, where da common sense?
Sea of stars is getting amazing reviews, as I suspected. I'll be playing on gp first, but will be buying it down the road at some point when it gets a physical. Every jrpg fan should have their eyes set on this one.
I guess NintendoLife did a preview for this device, but I must have missed it cause I just heard about it yesterday when my coworker sent me a text asking if I'd seen the Nitro Deck.
This thing is slick!
Immediately ordered the black, then realized I need a case so I also ordered the SNES edition with case, will give the extra to my brother for his birthday since that's coming up soon.
It has HALL Effect joysticks with swappable caps, gyro, rumble, 4 rear buttons exactly like SteamDeck and are also remappable like SteamDeck, it's compatible with both the regular Switch and the OLED model, it has pass-through charging, a built in kickstand for tabletop mode, and when your Switch is docked you can actually plug it in to your Switch Dock with a USB cable and use it as a controller if you want.
All those ppl saying they prefer the ergonomics of the SteamDeck but not Switch... here ya go. This essentially turns Switch into a SteamDeck, except not nearly as wide or as heavy.
Preorders live now. Ships next month in September.
Nintendo anounce a 15 minutes Nintendo Direct at 10 am in august 31th, focused on Super Mario Bros Wonder and speculating/predicting what Nintendo could show on the Super Mario Bros Wonder focused Direct.
So Batman Arkham Trilogy is now available for eshop preorder. The eshop page says cloud saves are present for Arkham Asylum and Arkham City but not Arkham Knight where it says:
"Not supported
This software does not use save data."
Arkham Asylum is showing up as 6.8GB by the way. Does make it seem like physical including both 7th gen games would've meant needing a 32GB cart (Arkham City would surely be over 9.2GB).
To me why wouldn’t you just shut the console off when not using it especially if you aren’t going to use it for a little while? Isn’t it generally a bad idea to leave something perpetually on? To me it’s just common sense to turn something off when it’s not in use for extended periods. Now I’ve put my switch into sleep while on WiFi downloading updates but when I’m finished and not playing it at home I turn it off.
I genuinely had no clue. And besides the occasional noisy fan and a faulty pro controller I've had no issues - and that's since late 2017.
I might have switched it off when I was moving house but that's it.
It just seems like a huge oversight. Because I didn't buy a Switch for the handheld mode, and most of my games are digital. I'm not physically touching the console itself so it's never come up.
...I do have a moment every decade or so that makes me look like a huge idiot. When I was 12 I discovered cars had pedals, when I was 22 I learned that your Switch can be switched off!
What will I learn at 32? Hopefully more common sense
Just saw the news about Sony increasing the prices on PS Plus... wtf are they thinking?! A $20/year price increase for the most BASIC tier to access online multiplayer and cloud saves. $80 a year. That's absolutely ridiculous.
