@skywake Blizzard hasn't really developed any games for consoles apart from Diablo 3 and Overwatch. The last game before that was a port of StarCraft for the N64 in 2000. Considering that Overwatch has been quite the success, I wouldn't be surprised. My only issue is that the game's almost a year old by the time the Switch releases. Not sure if it's still worth porting over by that time.
@MarcelRguez Yeah, you're right about that. Maybe it does make sense after all. I do think that it won't have the same impact as a brand new release would've had.
@Nicolai I think he has used reasoning based on the 'advert' confirming Wii U version out in March and the 'leaks' stating that the Switch BotW may be delayed. It's sound reasoning as long as the advert is legit and the leaks are true lol.
@Nicolai Yep, @GrailUK is correct about my reasoning. I live near Manchester so might take a trip at the weekend to find/verify that poster (there's also a Switch advert to the left of it). As others have pointed out though, even if real it could merely be a placeholder.
@GrailUK, nice avatar by the way. You beat me to it.
...Wii U version released before Switch version...
What about the advertisement makes you say that?

I feel like, if that was the case, then they wouldn't mention the Switch version at all on the ad. I think the ad implies a simultaneous release.
My bets are on the ad being entirely fake, and was only made to encourage people to pay deposits for their pre-order. As for the March release date, that was probably taken from the Switch release, which was when BotW was expected to be releasing.
@MarcelRguez: Sounds like he kept dodging the question. Though it's promising that he is excited to support this device over every console since the NES, so that alone should indicate Skyrim on the Switch.
I would be happy with Skyrim Special Edition, but if Skyrim does come to Switch, I think it will be the original version (maybe slight upgrades but nothing close to Special Edition) or a spin-off... "Skyrim Adventures" or something terrible like that
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
@BiasedSonyFan
But the thing is there are some games where I don't really care if it's a port or not. Obviously we all want new Zelda, Mario and Metroid games every few years. But most of Nintendo's other series? Typically we buy them once on a new platform and that's it. And it usually doesn't matter how much has changed.
I'm talking about Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Splatoon and Super Mario Maker. These are games that don't need to be rebuilt from the ground up every few years. Frankly I wouldn't be at all upset if the Switch versions of those games were all just enhanced ports and remasters. Improve the visuals, put all the DLC in the box, throw in some new modes, items and so on. Done.
Personally I'd rather them get these games out of the way with as little development time as possible. Boost the Switch's library in this crucial first year and get away with ports because these games are basically the same every cycle anyways. Then once that's out of the way they can fully commit their resources to new content. Which given how close some of these games are to done is probably happening already.

@BiasedSonyFan
I didn't say I was opposed to the idea of them changing things up or starting from scratch. Doing that can be a good thing. And for a game like Pokemon where the story mode is something everyone plays through? They can't get away with just doing the same thing all the time anyways. So it's a bit different.
What I was saying was for the Mario Karts, Splatoons and Mario Makers of Nintendo's catalogue? They don't really need to be refreshed every cycle. The can and should just port over the existing releases with a bit of additional content. The only reason they couldn't do that before was because the hardware changed dramatically between releases. Mario Kart 64 had to be different from Super Mario Kart, Double Dash had to be different from 64. The Wii U was already a HD console, can be gained from a reset?
Basically, if Smash Bros on the Switch is "just" Smash Bros for Switch. The same game that we got on Wii U and 3DS but with all the DLC included. A few new Switch exclusive fighters like Inklings, Ice Climbers and maybe a third party character like the guy from Doom. Would anyone have an issues with that? Because I wouldn't. And frankly I'd much rather Nintendo put their resources towards something else rather than starting from scratch again.
yeah I'm done with the faux pas suffering of the smash bros development and sakurai explaining delays while bathing in the eternal fountain of youth, sipping on an artistic pain cocktail.
Make smash bros the defacto launch extra for every nintendo console. Just the new and improved version every time. It's the perfect franchise to do just that
It occured to me this morning that the Pikmin game rumoured for the Switch was most likely originally a finished Wii U title that has been moved to the new platform... and this is also likely to be the case for the Mario game. There were rumours a new Mario title has been in the works since 3D world, and we also got a story where Nintendo delayed the Switch release because 'Mario wasn't running on it properly'- because it had been ported from the Wii U?
So basically every Nintendo game for the system in the rumour for the launch window is possiby a Wii U game. You can either look at this and say: 'does this mean they actually don't have any new games for the machine?' or 'that the rumour only applies to the games that were originally Wii U games, and are likely to be known about by the majority of Ninty's employees?'
You could even wonder if the Rabbids game was the mystery game that Ubisoft had for the Wii U that they refused to release.
Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?
@MrGawain the unreleased Wii U game by Ubisoft was apparently some party game or something like that whereas this is an RPG.
As for whether the others are ports of Wii U planned games, that's not unreasonable as it's been rumoured for a while that was the case hence the lack of very few new games for the Wii U the past couple of years. I believe Miyamoto at the time of talking about the new Mario game, and maybe the same with the new Pikmin title, it was for an unspecified system which itself could lead one to believe he was referring to the Switch as he would have known about it at the time.
But there are I'm sure a number of unknown first party and Nintendo published games coming over the course of the first year which may well be entirely built for the Switch.

@MrGawain if your muscles in your legs had as much strength for jumping potential as your brain has demonstrated with your amazing jumping to conclusions with that there comment I'd wager you'd be able to tell many tales of gold medals you've won at various long jump tournaments.
"So basically every Nintendo game in the rumour for the launch is potentially a Wii U game".
I mean like wow.
I am just fascinated by this stigma that remasters/ports have and why it brings out comments like this. I will jump with you on that "what if Mario Switch is a Wii U game tho!?" (even though it blatantly isn't) and ask you in response...
So what? Like literally so what? I'll jump to a conclusion and say it turns out to be a great game, if you can comprehend that then just please answer me why it matters that it may be a Wii U game? Even BoTW, a Wii U game definitely, what is the bad thing about it now also being a Switch game? We're supposed to be angry at that? Sad? Annoyed? Worried? I don't get why I'm supposed to be negative about this...
I congratulate you for your ability to get so upset over what was merely an observation that it's likely these games were originally for the Wii U. Nowhere did I say this made them lesser games. If anything I was just commenting that we've probably yet to hear of a game specifically designed for the Switch from the ground up- and that's something to look forward to.
Sometimes its fun to point out possibilities on forums without attempting to start some sort of slanging match. Calm down dearie.

Hmmm...I don't think we can possibly know this. Perhaps a good portion of launch window titles were considered for Wii U at conception, but I very much doubt they were developed for Wii U to near completion before moving to the Switch, especially considering that Nintendo have been teasing the NX for years. Nonetheless, I think we can all agree that Nintendo have diverted their Wii U development efforts to the NX for the past year or so.
Also, I'm sure Miyamoto said in an interview a couple of years ago that we shouldn't expect the next big Mario until the next console. They'd probably already started working on Mario for the Switch.
@MrGawain this is getting ridiculous now as a regular occurrence on this site. If you're going to accuse me of being "upset" or "slagging you off" I'd appreciate it if you could point out exactly where you assumed I was either of those things, because I can absolutely assure you that I'm not anywhere near emotionally attached enough to anything videogames to be what you accuse me of being.
You're jumping to conclusions. Quite obviously at that. If you're going to do so and get defensive when queried about why you're doing so I don't know what else to say.
For maybe the millionth time I'll say wait until January 12/13 at the very, very earliest before trying to preempt anything.
And less baseless and non-backed up accusations too would be nice I'm sick to death of them at this point.
I wonder,if the Wii U had been relatively successful would we still have seen the Switch as early as next March or even next year?I assume the concept of Switch was already planned before the Wii U's prospects were clear.Or maybe not, maybe we would have got something else altogether if Wii U had been a success.
@OorWullie I think the Switch was always going to be Nintendo's next system it's just the hardware wasn't quite there yet in terms of cost effectiveness and power so they ended up with the Wii U. However I also think the Switch was always going to be a 2017 release, but in the holidays not early in the year. It kinda makes sense too as the Wii U would be 5 years old (average console life cycle) and the 3DS would definitely need replacing by then.
