Capcom just tweeted that Monster Hunter Rise has now surpassed 5 million copies, which already, in 1 week, makes it the best selling portable entry of all time, and within 800k of surpassing all of Monster Hunter World Iceborne’s sales on 3 platforms.

Words can’t express how good this makes me feel knowing so many new players are finally realizing the brilliance of this franchise.

It’s sold out on Amazon with shipping delays citing 1-3 weeks, but they have discounted it to $49.99 if anyone is patient enough to wait.

I'm stoked for the Monster Hunter fans, and it's awesome for the Switch that it's doing so well!

But I'm ready to move onto the insane excitement for MARIO GOLF! Eh? Who's with me???

Anybody? .... anybody?

@rallydefault Apart from those Mario (non-American) football games I'm not keen on the Mario sports games but the new Golf looks alright, the idea of racing to the balls it a decent idea. I've still got no interest in buying it though.

I'm looking forward to New Pokemon Snap this month and then Shin Megami Tensei 3 in May, Disgaea 6 in June and Skyward Sword in July.

I'm really just coasting until SMT V comes out.

Although Nocturne HD will be a VERY nice distraction.

Ah, true, I forgot about Pokemon Snap; not my type of game (didn't really like the N64 one), but should be cool for lots of people.

I think the Mario Golf game is looking alright. I'll get it, probably.

@Grumblevolcano
That is true... hrm.... we should start a wager on the forums: Will we hear from Nintendo officially about the Switch Pro before Mario Golf launches? lol

@DarthNocturnal Both Famicom Detective Clubs are in May, as well as Miitopia. MH Stories 2 is probably July (though maybe August) as well, we'll probably get confirmation circa E3.

@link3710 MH Stories 2 was already announced for July 9th in the most recent MH presentation before MH Rise launched.

@Grumblevolcano Well okay, there you go then lol. Thanks for the update!

Think that only backs up that the release schedule up to July is probably full at this point.

Pokémon Snap.... I'm kinda fuming quietly inside because it's still on rails. Love the idea of the photography mode, competitions etc, but if everyone is riding through the same scenes there's gonna be a lot of similar looking photos. It would be much more interesting an experience if you were stealthing through an open world trying to get great photos like a real wildlife photographer.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Hmm, so Xenoblade has distracted me from MH twice now (XC2 DLC followed by NG+ run distracted me from MHGU in 2018 and Pyra/Mythra in Smash distracted me from MH Rise, the latter case has made me think about replaying XC2 a third time, Torna a 2nd time and do a NG+ run of XCDE) so XCX Definitive Edition launching close to MH Rise Ultimate perhaps?

Isn't the on-rails gameplay kind of Snap's whole shtick, though? I'm not a fan, as I mentioned, but I know the N64 game was that way. If they would make it into just another open world game except you have a camera... I don't know, what's the point? Why not just make everything an open world game? What would make it too terribly different from Legends with a really nice camera mode?

@rallydefault Yeah I kinda want it on rails but with lots of routes, I want it to feel arcadey.

You could do an open world pokemon snap, a bit like dead rising I suppose.

@gcunit
What you’re looking for is Monster Hunter Snap.

It’s actually built right into Monster Hunter Rise! Take your own pics with the in game camera and catalog all the various species of endemic life, small monsters and large monsters the world of Rise has to offer as the game automatically tags the creature in the photo for your notebook. Like real photographers in the savanna watching lions, you can also risk lining up that perfect shot as a Tigrex charges at you full tilt!

Add various post-processing effects and even have your pet owl hold the camera for you to take a selfie! Hang your pictures in your room, or share them online! Explore 5 sprawling, open map environments as you track down and search out your targets. Let the day/night cycle work to your advantage to snap shots under the starlight, or just as the sun breaks the horizon at the crack of dawn!

Monster Hunter Snap, now available!

(All these snaps were taken by yours truly, using the in-game camera feature)

@JaxonH Beautiful images, they really capture the depth of the world. Do you have a favourite Photo Mode from any game you've played? Same with @BruceCM.

Not really, @TheJGG .... I never remember to use photo mode in games! Most of the time, I hardly even get around to taking any simple screenshots But I like seeing them, so it's great the option is in most games
