You know what? I'm enjoying the last few pages of this thread before that Nintendo tweet. The one time a rumour was actually on the money. The first time we can confirm it as being legit. And people were harassing Emily Rodgers on twitter about it.

You have to wonder. How did SMD not work out the announcement was this week? And more to the point, what other rumours will be discredited completely by tomorrow? For the people who haven't really invested themselves in the half of the theories that will end up being wrong? It's going to be a fun few days.

No I agree that he's most probably full of crap. I'm just saying it's going to be fun seeing that crowd in particular have to eat their words. Because IMO they're the ones that are going to have the most egg on their face.

My theory since the start would be that the system is effectively a portable. When they started really shutting down Wii U releases? That made me think it was more of a home console. The Eurogamer article pointing out that a portable could feasibly work as a Nintendo-style under-powered home console? Whether they're right or wrong. That has me pretty much convinced that it's a portable with a fairly passive dock.

And IMO the fact Nintendo have on their site that it's a home system. Combined with what I think are fairly solid rumours that it has a screen and uses cartridges? IMO that only strengthens that theory. Especially when combined with the fact that it was Emily Rodgers and Eurogamer who were the ones who backed the rumour about the reveal date. Until we see that trailer and then we'll know for sure.

So something I've seen based on this news is that they're calling it a home console so it's now maybe not a hybrid system according to some people.

Need to point out somewhere, because this has been obvious for a long while. It makes no sense to advertise this as a handheld successor specifically. It is a console that you can MAKE portable in some way. They have to replace their console and 3DS is still selling games and huge in Japan and the next Pokemon games have more momentum than any other gaming franchise right now. Now, it will likely replace the 3DS in the long term if everything goes well. But if it does, handheld Nintendo is not what needs help, and if it doesn't, then they can simply release a more traditional handheld gaming system later to replace 3DS. The marketing should be about a CONSOLE that has the ability to be portable not a HANDHELD that is also a console.

Roger's was right. I'll consider her information much more seriously from now in. Hype.

And it seems I was right about it being primarily a wii u replacement. Phew.

As I said on the previous page. I'm looking forward to tomorrow so people can stop being so obsessed about semantics. When we know what it is nobody will be talking about whether it's more one thing or another. Or whether one word from some Nintendo exec suggests one rumour is more correct than another. It'll just be what it is.

I am really excited to see what the NX is. See which rumors are right or see if the NX is actually a Micro Console that will be a support/partner system to two new system

Nintendo sure is ballsy. I though they would give us a week in advance before reveal.

I still hope for a second form factor, but it is wishful thinking. Eurogamer is right IMHO. I don't think they have the full picture, some things usually get lost in translation when you are doing the whispering game.

@Therad Consider: they're likely announcing the reveal of a reveal. They probably want to strike while the iron is hot with a full concept, while still giving people a day's time to tune in.

I wouldn't have placed the announcement before Red Dead, though, unless it'll be on NX (western filth — doubt it).

Well congratulations everyone, we all made it to the day Nintendo announces this damn machine. A few more weeks and we would of lost a few good gamers to madness I'm sure.

These things don't need a week now. 10 minutes after the reveal it will be on Facebook,Twitter, and popular news channels and by tomorrow providing all goes well every man,woman and child will want one 😀

I don't mind how brief this reveal is. Even if we don't learn that much about how it works, simply seeing the device will be a breath of fresh air. I think we'll just see it, see BoTW running on it, and a few short words by Miyamoto.

Speaking of, who do y'all think will appear in this Direct? Mostly NoA reps, Miyamoto, or dare I say, Kimishima?

I just really hope Nintendo gives the date of the next info in that trailer. There's only so much you can do in 3 minutes and there's the possibility that the trailer drives people more insane than if they said nothing.
