Switch is kinda-sorta getting an EDF game. There's always a catch.

https://www.siliconera.com/earth-defense-force-world-brothers...

It's EDF, but with voxels.

Although, honestly, I never thought the more realistically-styled games looked great, so I don't know that I'm necessarily disappointed with the change. Voxels might be preferable to PS2 graphics.

YS IX: Monstrum Nox coming to Switch! There it is ladies and gents. All the new YS games and all the new Trails of Cold Steel games.

A standing ovation for you, Falcom. And for you, NIS. clap šŸ‘

Also Shiren the Wanderer. I actually love that game.

And a new Fallen Legion. First was ok. Could be good.

And Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2.

There were a few games revealed today coming to Switch, most of which Nintendo Life have seemingly haven’t for whatever reason posted any articles on, especially Deadly Premonition 2 which Nintendo revealed the release date and trailer for earlier today on social media.

@JaxonH

Ys IX and Curse of the Moon 2 are pretty sweet announcements.

@FragRed I don't see the tweet for Deadly Premonition 2, (wait NM it was on the European Twitter). Ys IX is great news though. I'm sure they'll post articles soon, they just finished the one for Star Wars Racer launching.

@JaxonH !!!

Now I just hope this one doesn't have the severe performance dips that plagued Ys VIII.

Still, god bless NISA.

Ooh baby, locked in and preordered already!

YS IX: Monstrum Nox Limited Edition

And to round out the Falcom Collector Set:

Trails of Cold Steel III Limited Edition

Trails of Cold Steel IV Limited Edition

Remember when we were so giddy over YS VIII Lacrimosa of Dana coming to Switch? And were wondering if this meant we might possibly see YS IX down the line? And that now "we just need the Trails series to come to Switch"?

We just time traveled 2 years and voila. Here we are. Wishes have been granted.

Heh, I was confidant that Ys IX would Switch & come to the West ever since it was 1st announced .... But I was a bit surprised by ToCS III coming, without the previous 2 You got all the other Ys & Trails games available everywhere, now, then?

This is a kickstarter that frankly, I think is worth backing. Like Star Fox SNES but way cooler. Dude wants to bring to Switch after PC, just doesnt want to say 100% for sure in case. But he thinks it wont be a problem.

I hit em on Twitter and said, Switch fans love Switch, we love Starfox and we love gyro. Put all 3 together and you're gonna smash

@BruceCM
Well, not Xbox.

Steam is the only platform that has everything though.

Yeah & it has sales on just about everything quite often, @JaxonH .... The earlier Ys with 'bump attacks' are a bit awkward, now but the series has been surprisingly influential, considering how long it took them to regularly get released outside Asia I love my current XBox One, as much for the BC games that still don't seem to have come to PC but I'm pleased I won't need a Series X or PS5

Guess i really need to finally play my copy of Ys viii.. gotta be honest though, after xenoblade i may need an rpg break for a little while. I hear Ys and XC are pretty similar so I don't want to play those back to back. Nonetheless, if it's anything like Viii which i hear great things about, im all in on IX.

As for bloodstained, huge announcement for me at least. I love that series and im hoping it becomes a yearly or bi-yearly thing to have spin offs and main series games released.

Ralizah

@NintendoByNature Ys and Xenoblade are pretty much nothing alike, in almost any way.

But I understand needing a reprieve from the JRPGs.

@Ralizah really? I've heard a couple say it's similar on YouTube. Well, I guess I've been had than šŸ˜‹. Either way, it looks like I'll enjoy the series. And plan on firing the game up in the near future( maybe after paper mario)

Magician

@NintendoByNature

Yeah, as Ralizah mentioned, Ys and XC are not alike.

Both are great, but one is an action/rpg and the other a single-player offline mmo-like.

@Magician good to know. I got it on a sale earlier this year for 30. So even if i dont like It, i don't have much to lose. On a side note, I really need to stop taking advice from rgt85 haha. Dude always says it's alot like XC

NintendoByNature

BruceCM

Yeah, in that they're both jrpgs, @NintendoByNature.... I suspect whoever said they're really similar isn't a fan of those, generally?

Tried Duke Nukem 3D World Tour.

This game is muah! How on earth did it ever get mediocre reviews? Reading them now it’s just petty complaints about ā€œinappropriate jokesā€ and other inconsequential stuff.

The gyro is ON. POINT. And Gearbox totally respects the Switch gamer, too. By default, they turn off aim assist. By default, they turn on gyro. By default, they assume Switch gamers aren’t of the ilk that relies on the game aiming for them- they know that here in Switchland we aim with our own skill. I love that. I really do. They understand us, and that’s appreciated. Especially in a landscape where so many companies don’t.

The game itself is so good, too. I like it more than old school DOOM, even. First stage, already got a pistol, shotgun and now a rocket launcher. There’s secrets and hidden pathways which feels like light puzzle solving at times, the gameplay is fluid, they even have a motion gesture for your ā€œMighty Footā€ kick, if you want. Otherwise clicking R3 does it. It works great, just do a small sudden flick with the controller in any direction and it kicks, and it’s never accidentally kicked from the gyro aiming. Works perfectly.

The game is already smashing the eShop, and I say well deserved. At $5, it’s a no brainer. This is how you bring a classic over. This review is basically my thoughts exactly
